From the 1986 “5150” tour of VAN HALEN, which was reborn with Sammy Hagar, the performance of “Rosemont Horizon” in Chicago, Illinois on April 22 was high using the original cassette master provided by overseas taper. It is a vinyl record with a sound quality audience source! This sound source was recorded by Chicago’s famous taper, like Dave Lee Roth’s “EAT’EM AND SMILE IN CHICAGO”. With a highly realistic recording, you can enjoy comparing the live performances of the same year and the same venue!
VAN HALEN shared a sword with Dave Lee Roth in July 1985 after the tour accompanying the historic masterpiece “1984”, and was at the biggest crossroads in the band’s history. At that time, Sammy Hagar, a former MONTROSE solo singer, participated in the session at the request of the band. Sammy was initially reluctant to join the band, but when he actually had a session with VAN HALEN, he immediately hit it off. I decide to join the band.
The band that renewed their posture with Sammy announced “5150” in March 1986. Although it is different from “1984” in the Dave era, it presented the music that is nothing but VAN HALEN in the best form, proclaiming a new era of the band. This work “KICK IN’ASS IN DETROIT” is a complete recording of the live performance at “Joe Louis Arena” in Detroit on May 10, 1986, which can be said to be one of the Yamaba even in the first half of the “5150” tour. doing. This time, we used the excellent Audience Shot Master obtained from overseas directly. In order to record without degrading its quality, it is decided to release it as a set of 2 discs!
The live will start with “You Really Got Me” as well as “5150 CHICAGO” (the ticket image of the day will be inserted at the beginning before the performance). The quality of the video and sound quality is more than enough for an audience shot 27 years ago. From the second floor on the right side of the stage, you can see the whole view of the stage and the dynamic player. In the following “There’s Only One Way To Rock”, Sammy picks up the guitar and competes with Eddie and Michael. If you’re a VAN HALEN fan, you’ll be knocked out in the first two songs!
After this, you can enjoy a wonderful performance that pushes the technical Eddie’s play to the front. In “Summer Nights” and “Get Up”, you can zoom in on Eddie’s appearance and watch his play with tapping. Don’t miss “Why Can’t This Be Love” and “5150” from Alex’s drum solo. “Panama”, which flows from Michael’s bass solo, is the highlight of the first half. Sammy’s powerful and punchy vocals inject energy into the song that is different from the Dave era.
“Sammy’s Rap” and “Love Walks In” are sudden highlights on Disc 2 in the latter half of the live. In particular, the new song “Love Walks In”, which was not performed at the Chicago performance of “5150 CHICAGO”, is a nice point.
