Even in 1978, which is a treasure house of recordings, the best stereo sound board album, which will be the first major masterpiece, appears. In this work is “Toronto Performance June 27, 1978”. This show was also FM broadcasting, and its air check has brought about a lot of early development. This work is one sheet that has studied the highest peak of such a large standard sound board.
I think that it is heard at once with a title by some title only, but the sound flowing out of this work is the best ever. Although there was also a history of blurred blurred sound that was historically mounded, this work is quite different from such an air checking board. Wake up from the reel master before broadcasting, the noise and shake peculiar to the air check is totally, the extremely stable official sounds loudly. Moreover, its edge is also extreme in vividness. It is extremely brilliant every single instrument, one tone, and the last shine of the seventies progression is poured directly into the brain’s miso. Speaking of “U.K. in 1978”, it is a treasure trove of abnormally high quality recording, but it is an outstanding stereo sound board among them.

This is an outline from “release of the four of mourning” to 2nd album production. There is an obscure spot in the materials at that time, so it is not sure, but I think that you can understand the approximate outline. The Toronto performance of this work is a concert which is the third performance of “North America # 1”.
This “North America # 1” was one turning point. Actually, this 1978 tour has its set list changed on the way. Until “UK” to “North America # 1” at the beginning the first set is the initial set, most of the later will be the late stage set. The big difference is from the middle stage of the show to the second half. Although the performance song itself seems not to be much different from the latter part of the tour, the order of the songs is different, and the mood of the album “The Fourth of Mourning” remains remarkable. Specifically, after “Thirty Years”. In the latter term set, it was basically the snow crumbling and “Presto Vivace And Reprise” → “In The Dead Of Night” from the ending of “Thirty Years”, but in this work it is “In the Dead Of Night “” By The Light Of Day “” Presto Vivace And Reprise “flow.

It seems that these new songs were written during the tour rehearsal to compensate for the lack of repertoire, but it is a rough version that has not been polished yet.

The main point of this work is to be able to taste such early unique listening with the finest stereo sound board. I think that it is familiar to people of maniacs, but from this tour, excellent sound board such as the officialized Boston performance, Chicago performance, Philadelphia performance, Cleveland performance etc. are left. However, none of them is a late set. Only Toronto performance of this work is the sound board which conveys the initial set.
It is a big decision board which has drawn the large standard sound board with the ultimate master reel and quality. That is one piece that is not exaggeration to say that it is the live album which is closest to the masterpiece “The Fourths of the Mourning Country”, “The Fourths of the Love Performance Edition’s Mourning Kingdom”. Press CD to leave its ultimate glow forever. Please, add it to your collection.


この「北米#1」こそ、ひとつのターニング・ポイントでした。実は、この1978年ツアーは、途中でセットリストが変わっている。「UK」から「北米#1」冒頭の数公演までが初期セットであり、その後の大部分は後期セットになるのです。その大きな違いは、ショウの中盤から後半にかけて。演奏曲自体はツアー後期と大差ないようにも見えますが、曲順が異なり、アルバム『憂国の四士』のムードが色濃く残っている。具体的に言いますと「Thirty Years」の後。後期セットでは「Thirty Years」のエンディングから「Presto Vivace And Reprise」→「In The Dead Of Night」と雪崩れ込むのが基本だったのですが、本作ではアルバムA面通りに「In The Dead Of Night」「By The Light Of Day」「Presto Vivace And Reprise」の流れで演奏されるのです。
曲順だけではない。当時未発表の新曲「The Sahara Of Snow」「Carrying No Cross」「The Only Thing She Needs」が早くも披露されているのですが、その仕上がりがいかにも初期らしい。BRUFORDで正式に録音される「The Sahara Of Snow」はわりと完成しているものの、「Carrying No Cross」「The Only Thing She Needs」は『DANGER MONEY』とは違ってギターパートもあり、後者にはスタジオ録音にはないスローな中間パートもインサートされている。こうした新曲群は、レパートリー不足を補うためにツアーリハーサル中に書き上げたそうですが、まだまだ磨かれていないラフ・バージョンなのです。

Elegant stereo sound board album “EL MOCAMBO 1978: REEL MASTER” which reprinted the initial set just after the live activity started from the reel master. It is a masterpiece that their tracks are conveyed to Vivid, so we prepared a collection of masterpieces professional shots that will give you a glimpse of their history in that bonus.
This work contains images of seven songs and 10 takes, but this can be broadly categorized into three. Let’s introduce each in detail.

First of all, there are three music clips and four kinds of music clips. Each reprinted from the best master at the present. “In The Dead Of Night” has 2 kinds recorded, but the original broadcasted on “Sound Super City” is “# 2”. Although this is very valuable, only a slightly severe master remains. It is “# 1” that overseas maniacs who are depressed by their current situation produced. While using original video, I tried skillfully using various kinds of still images to upgrade the version.
The following two songs “Nothing To Lose” “Rendezvous 6: 02” are complete official qualities of the interview pattern. You can witness the appearance of “the strongest progressive trio after EL & P” with a ferociously beautiful steel wall picture quality.

The next section is two multi-camera / pro shots when you appeared on BBC’s special program “THE OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST”. This video is also valuable, but a maniac is what is known as “a voice is now one”. In this work, after recording the best master of the original broadcast, we also recorded a version edited by overseas mania additionally.
This re-edit version is also interesting at all. The basic concept is “Replace with the sound of live album” NIGHT AFTER NIGHT “. You can enjoy valuable videos with a remarkably upgraded sound. However, although it is said that the timing is close, it is another performance. After all, some deviation can not be avoided by all means. In this video, while synchronizing with the method possible, the part which does not fit is complemented with a still picture. And not only the photos of the members but also the jackets / art of the successive boot legs are inserted in the still picture. This is also nostalgic again, “Oh, you listened to this, is not it?” How long have you been loving U.K., why did you make this picture? The last section is BRUFORD of the bonus picture. This is also a multicamera pro shot when I appeared on BBC’s famous program “ROCK GOES TO COLLEGE”. Although this image is made into an official DVD, this work has selected only two songs originating from U.K. from the digital broadcast version in recent years. Even though it is a broadcast version, its quality is super-high quality video that is not less than the official DVD.
And “Sahara Of Snow” and “Forever Until Sunday” drawn with that quality are “one wing of the original UK” itself. The original four were divided into two groups: Wetton / Jobson ‘s “Rock group” and Blueford / Hallsworth’ s “Jazz group”, but that “Jazz group” played a song written during the rehearsal of the 1st tour There. It is exactly the performance / picture paired with “OGWT 1979” above.

While embodying the ideals of UK Progress in the late 1970s, U. K. broke down in the air in a short history. This work which tracks the flow including the main press press CD and BURUFORD with the extreme stereo sound board which the extreme early stage caught on a pro shot. まず登場するのは、ミュージック・クリップ3曲・4種。それぞれ、現状でベストなマスターから復刻致しました。「In The Dead Of Night」は2種が収録されておりますが、“サウンドスーパーシティ”で放送されたオリジナルは「#2」の方。これは非常に貴重なものの、やや厳しめのマスターしか残っていません。その現状に憂う海外マニアが制作したのが「#1」。オリジナル映像も使いつつ、各種の静止画などを巧みに駆使してバージョンアップを図ったものです。
それに続く2曲「Nothing To Lose」「Rendezvous 6:02」は、問答模様の完全オフィシャル・クオリティ。猛烈に美しい鉄壁画質で“EL&P以降の最強プログレトリオ”の姿が目撃できます。

次のセクションは、BBCの名物番組“THE OLD GREY WHISTLE TEST”に出演した際のマルチカメラ・プロショット2曲です。この映像も貴重なものなのですが、マニアには“音声が今ひとつ”として知られているもの。本作では、オリジナル放送のベストマスターも収録した上で、さらに海外マニアが編集し直したバージョンも併せて収録いたしました。
この再編集バージョンがまた、何とも面白い。基本コンセプトは「ライヴアルバム『NIGHT AFTER NIGHT』の音声に差し替え」。格段にグレードアップしたサウンドで貴重映像が楽しめるのです。しかし、いかに時期が近いとは言っても別パフォーマンス。やはり若干のズレはどうしても避けられない。この映像では可能な限りの手法でシンクロさせつつ、どうしても合わないパートは静止画で補完しているのです。そして、その静止画にはメンバーの写真だけでなく、歴代ブートレッグのジャケット・アートも差し込まれている。これがまた何とも懐かしく、「あぁ、これ聴いてたよねぇ」となる。どれだけ長くU.K.を愛してきたか、なぜこの映像を作ったのか。そんなマニアの想いが無言で伝わってくる映像なのです。

「Sahara Of Snow」「Forever Until Sunday」
最後のセクションは、ボーナス映像のBRUFORD。これもBBCの名物番組“ROCK GOES TO COLLEGE”に出演した際のマルチカメラ・プロショットです。この映像はオフィシャルDVD化されておりますが、本作は近年のデジタル放送バージョンからU.K.由来の2曲だけをセレクトしました。放送版とは言っても、そのクオリティは公式DVDにも劣らぬ凄まじい超ハイクオリティ映像です。
そして、そのクオリティで描かれる「Sahara Of Snow」「Forever Until Sunday」は、“オリジナルU.K.の片翼”そのもの。オリジナルの4人は、ウェットン/ジョブソンの“ロック組”とブルーフォード/ホールズワースの“ジャズ組”に二分したわけですが、その“ジャズ組”が1stツアーのリハーサル時に書かれた曲を演奏している。まさに上記の“OGWT 1979”と対を成すパフォーマンス/映像なのです。
