Steve Hackett’s latest performance in Japan, where the reproduction of the masterpieces “Knight of the Moon” and “Seconds Out” is very popular. Following the first report the other day, further finest original recordings have arrived. Two works will be released at the same time!
It was the performance of “July 10, 2022: Club Citta Kawasaki” that was imbued with this work. It is the best audience recording that vacuum packed the whole story. With the continuous release of last week / this week, you can completely complete this performance in Japan, but which work belongs to which show? Just in case, let’s organize it again here.

・ July 8 “KAWASAKI 2022 1ST NIGHT”
・ July 9 “KAWASAKI 2022 2ND NIGHT”
・ July 10: Club Citta Kawasaki ← ★ This work ★

Above, all 3 performances. This time, there are only three consecutive performances at Club Citta Kawasaki, and this work is also the final version of the trilogy.
This work recorded at such a show is a superb item. Like “KAWASAKI 2022 2ND NIGHT (Amity 685)” released at the same time this week, it is an original recording only for this work by “Western Japan’s strongest taper”. The sound of this work is at the highest level comparable to “KAWASAKI 2022 2ND NIGHT” only for the same venue, the same equipment, and the same recorder. It is a famous recording that goes on the ground with a “sound board” with a thick core approaching with zero sense of distance. However, are they so similar that they are indistinguishable? Not really. Even though “KAWASAKI 2022 2ND NIGHT” has a lot of thick feeling, the clearness of the outline was outstanding, but this work is excellent in the dynamism of the sound.
Especially striking is the thickness of the deep bass. Normally, when the hall sound is thick in the audience recording, it tends to change to a sense of distance and a sense of squishyness in the core, but this work is completely different. The extra-thick core is the same as “KAWASAKI 2022 2ND NIGHT”, but the deep bass of the bass and bass drum vibrates the walls and floor of the venue, and the vibe wraps up in detail (this deep bass is really wonderful, but on the other hand, it is really wonderful. For such rich bass, you may choose a slightly playback environment). Therefore, while being very powerful, the midrange of the guitar and vocals that penetrates the center of the dough is clear, and the treble of the synth shines with abundant growth. For those who love the profound feeling of symphonic rock and the power of beats, this work can be a masterpiece.
The powerful dynamic sound is drawn with the keywords “Knight of the Moon” and “Seconds Out” that we have introduced so far. In fact, the set is exactly the same in 3 days. Let’s change the taste a little and reorganize it by comparing it with the official live album “GENESIS REVISITED LIVE: SECONDS OUT & MORE” scheduled to be released in September.

● Part 1: Second out (ABC side)
・ Squonk / The Carpet Crawlers / Robbery, Assault & Battery / Afterglow / The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway / The Musical Box / Supper’s Ready
● Part 2: Selling England by the Moon (all)
・ Dancing With the Moonlit Knight (★) / I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe) / Firth of Fifth / More Fool Me (★) / The Battle of Epping Forest (★) / After the Ordeal (★) / The Cinema Show / Aisle of Plenty
● Encore: Second out (D side)
・ Dance on a Volcano / Los Endos (incl. Slogans)
* Note: “★” marks are songs that cannot be heard on the official live album “GENESIS REVISITED LIVE: SECONDS OUT & MORE”.

… And it looks like this. The official live album based on the overseas set simply reproduced “Seconds Out” completely, but the performance in Japan was different. “Knight of the Moon” section (Part 2) is set up in the middle. By removing the “Knight of the Moon” number in the first part, it became a tighter and sharper flow, and as a whole, “Knight of the Moon” was taken in entirely and the sense of progress was greatly increased “Expanded Seconds Out” However, it has been remade into a structure that seems to be possible. To be honest, the official version that will be released this time is a “complete reproduction live album of the live album”, which is hard to grasp the significance, but this work can be enjoyed freshly as a “build-up album of the masterpiece live album”.
“Seconds Out”, which was the culmination of GENESIS during the Hackett era, and “Knight of the Moon Shadow”, the masterpiece. It is a blockbuster 3-disc set that combines the two. The final version of the trilogy that allows you to complete the special set set up for the Japan performance. Please enjoy the whole three works.

★ The best audience recording of the “July 10, 2022: Club Citta Kawasaki” performance. This is the final version of the trilogy that includes all three performances in 2022, and is a work by Mr. “West Japan’s strongest taper” like the previous work “KAWASAKI 2022 2ND NIGHT”. It is a sound that specializes in the thickness of deep bass than “2ND NIGHT”, and is extremely dynamic. You can fully experience the expanded world of “Seconds Out” by incorporating the entire “Knight of the Moon”.

Squonk/The Carpet Crawlers/Robbery, Assault & Battery/Afterglow/The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway/The Musical Box/Supper’s Ready
Dancing With the Moonlit Knight(★)/I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)/Firth of Fifth/More Fool Me(★)/The Battle of Epping Forest(★)/After the Ordeal(★)/The Cinema Show/Aisle of Plenty
Dance on a Volcano/Los Endos (incl. Slogans)
※注:「★」印は公式ライヴアルバム『GENESIS REVISITED LIVE: SECONDS OUT & MORE』では聴けない曲。
