SOFT MACHINE ‘s last visit to Japan in July this year “Farewell JAPAN Tour”. The live album that recorded the site with the best sound appears.
This work was recorded as “July 31, 2018”. The final schedule for Tokyo and the Osaka 1st schedule is planned for the 2nd of Tokyo and 2 shows in the day and the night, each day. It was held in total of 3 performances. First of all, let’s explain the composition of this work from the schedule.

· July 28: Tokyo (day section)
· July 28: Tokyo (night section)
· July 29: Tokyo (day section)
· July 29: Tokyo (night section)
· July 31: Osaka (day section) 【this work Disc 1】
· July 31: Osaka (Night part) 【This work Disc 2-3】

Over all six performances. This work is a superb audience recording which completely recorded 2 stages which were done on the last day of the last tour of Japan arrival. I do not think there is a difference in time between the day and night stages, but the scale differs depending on the length of the introduction and solo, and the afternoon section is about 78 minutes. On the contrary, the night section has exceeded 80 minutes, and it became a CD three-piece set. Both stages are recording complete from the opening to the encore, and it is a monument live album packing the whole “SOFT MACHINE last day”.
Such a work is monumental as well as length as well as quality. It is a master that appeared on the net, super superb sound that makes extremely polar in the audience recording. In our shop we introduce the latest live homepage of November as “LEWES 2018 (Amity 498)”, but we will not give a step to that super masterpiece. The site is said to be a small club scale accommodating about 300 people, whether it is tightly adhered and the details are superfine. I feel the proof of the audience recording to the snare ringing, but it is difficult to find the evidence of the customer list in addition to that. Besides, it is not just a zero distance & clear. Ringing using the famous machine “Schoeps Mk.4” admired by the world’s top talent is so graceful as to feel terror, and there is no shaking or distortion that is lost in the direction of the microphone. Moreover, the beauty of the sense of stability goes through 2 stages. Although I have not communicated where I recorded in the venue, I can experience “last day” with a full sense of unity.
Although the sound is unified, the contents of the show are completely different. Twenty songs (+ solo) were played on the second stage, but there was also the same day at the same venue, but the set changed dramatically. Both performances were performed only on two songs “Hidden Details” and “Hazard Profile”. Moreover, its multicolored character is overwhelming and repertory which he could not listen also at “LEWES 2018” is heaping. Particularly in the daytime, it began with “SIX” “Chloe and the Pirates”, “Song of Aeolus” “Facelift” “Out of Season” “Grape Hound” Every scene in the long history will flash back to the “One Glove” of the final work “HIDDEN DETAILS”. The night section is close to “LEWES 2018” but still reminds me of the breadth of 50 years, SOFT MACHINE LEGACY’s “Voyage Beyond Seven” “The Steamer” “Pump Room” This lots of versatile repertoire is also because it is a volume that does not fit in one performance. And this is the reason why it is penetrated by the unity of the same venue, the same recording person, and the same aircraft.

The debut work “THE SOFT MACHINE” gathered the attention of the good house in December 1968. After half a century passed, SOFT MACHINE which carved a heterogeneous history even in the rock world is about to fall asleep. For them, this work is “the last day in Japan”. It is a live set that completely recorded with the most ideal audience sound that can think of the second stage. For us Japanese, there are no more special three sets. Please, please face it with your feelings of all senses.

昼の部は特に多く、『SIX』の「Chloe and the Pirates」に始まり、「Song of Aeolus」「Facelift」「Out of Season」「Grape Hound」が連発。
