This is the heyday schedule for “LOVE AT FIRST STING”. The period and the number of venues were enormous, and it was a great heyday. Under such circumstances, the Japanese festival “SUPER ROCK ’84” of the century was realized in August 1984, but the Allentown performance of this work was about two months before that. It was the 58th performance of “North America # 1b”.
This work recorded at such a show is a new excavation recording that is currently a hot topic. The master announced by the prestigious “Krw_co”, the most wonderful thing is the core. そんな本作に吹き込まれているのは「1984年６月16日アレンタウン公演」。その極太オーディエンス録音です。「ボン・ジョヴィ＋蠍団」と言えば、まず思い浮かぶのは“SUPER ROCK ’84”。本作はその近辺のショウであり、同じように２組の他、RATTやTWISTED SISTERも出演するフェス形式のイベントでした（有名フェス“GREAT ALLENTOWN FAIR”と会場は同じですが別イベントです）。ここではヘッドライナーのSCORPIONSのスケジュールを基に、当時の様子を紐解いてみましょう。

これが『LOVE AT FIRST STING』にまつわる全盛のスケジュール。期間にしても場数にしても膨大で、まさに一大全盛期でした。そんな中で世紀の日本フェス“SUPER ROCK ’84”は1984年８月に実現したわけですが、本作のアレンタウン公演はその約２ヶ月前。「北米#1b」の58公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
そんなショウで記録された本作は、今話題沸騰中の新発掘録音。かの名門“Krw_co”が発表したマスターでして、何より素晴らしいのは芯。とにかく極太で力強く、ダイレクト感たっぷり。エッジに丸みもありますし、音色的にサウンドボードと間違えるタイプでもないのですが、かと言っていかにもオーディエンス的なスカスカ感は皆無。演奏も歌声も真っ直ぐ耳元まで飛び込んでくる猛烈タイト・サウンドなのです。その要因はテーパーの機材と技術にあるのでしょうが、それと同時に環境の力も大きかった模様。と言いますのも、本作の現場となった“アレンタウン・フェアグラウンド”は、東京ドーム10個分という広大な野外スペース。そこに設営されたステージにも壁がなく、極めて開放的な会場なのです。それだけに音を曇らせる反響が最初から存在せず、ＰＡの吐き出す出音をダイレクトに拾っているのです。
そんな直球サウンドで描かれるのは、灼熱の日本公演が甦る熱演。当店では両雄の公式映像『SUPER ROCK ’84 IN JAPAN』も復刻しておりますので、比較しながら整理してみましょう。

それ以上に胸アツなのが、むせ返るような若気。SCORPIONSは一大全盛のツアーも100公演ほどこなしたパフォーマンスはすでに王者の風格をたたえ、まさに「WORLD WIDE LIVEの現場体験」。そして、BON JOVI。そのフレッシュな生演奏はひたすらひたむきで、ありったけの情熱をぶちまける。「世界のBON JOVI」に慣れきった耳には客ノセの計算もない瑞々しい歌声と初めましてのMCがあまりにも眩しいのです。
