1988年に10年ぶりの来日ツアーを行った際のライヴ音源。この「Crazy Night」ツアーは、当時、NHKでも放映(4月22日・日本武道館ライヴ)されたのでロック・ファンには広く知られているライヴのひとつであるが、この音源は、その前日となる4月21日・日本武道館ライヴをオーディエンス録音で完全収録したものである。77年、78年の来日公演とは、あらゆる点で変貌したキッス。メイクとコスチュームを止めて、身も心も軽々しくなって生き生きしている様子が音源を通しても伝わってくる。エリック・カー(ドラム)のツイン・バスドラを駆使した「Rock And Roll All Nite」やブルース・キューリック(リードギター)のキーボードを大々的にフューチャーした「Reason To Live」など、サウンド面においても大きな変化をはっきりと聴くことができる。メイク期には秒単位でコントロールされた完成度の高いライヴ・パフォーマンスをウリにしていたキッスであったが、例えば、「Fits Like A Glove」の前にポール・スタンレイがレッドツェッペリンの「Heartbreaker」をアドリブでプレイするなどのゆとりや遊び心が入り、キッス自身がライヴを楽しんでいることで、それがファンにも伝わり、一体感のある盛り上りをみせている。
