“TOUR OF THE HEMISPHERES 1978-1979”, which can be said to be the far north of progressive rock. A stereo sound board album that captures the pattern realistically is now available as an upgrade.
“December 2, 1978 Detroit performance” is included in this work. Speaking of the sound board of this tour, there is an official-class masterpiece “HEMISPHERES IN FRANKFURT (Cygnus 019/020)” that does not require any questions, but this work is a gem that can not be ignored even for those who have that super masterpiece. Before the content you are interested in, let’s first confirm the position of the show from the whole tour that has mastered progressive rock.

Above, all 139 performances. I’ve done so many shows in about 8 months, so I can feel the momentum of the band’s heyday just by the schedule. “HEMISPHERES IN FRANKFURT” was the final “Europe” leg, but the Detroit performance of this work was the third concert of “North America # 2a” going back to the early days.
Sound board recordings were unearthed from this show in recent years and attracted a great deal of attention. The quality is a directly connected sound board that is fully open. Line recording also has various personalities, but the super direct feeling of this work is a little amazing. I’m not sure how it happened, but the sound is clearly recorded directly from the soundboard desk. While the loud cheers swirl in the distance, the singing voice and performance rushed into the ears naked. The bread on the left and right is also strong, and RUSH seems to come up to the brain with squishy and bare feet. Of course, the ensemble of three people is super powerful and super clear, which is impossible any more. You say that RUSH is in your brain, it’s a feeling of close contact and immersiveness that makes the skin of the guitar strings and drums tremble in your head.
Although it was such a strong sound board, the excavation master had a big drawback. It’s a pitch. Therefore, overseas enthusiasts corrected the pitch accurately and released a new upgraded version. This work is a CD version of the mania production master.
The world of “TOUR OF THE HEMISPHERES”, which is also extremely intense, is drawn with an even more intense sound with an accurate pitch. The sci-fi masterpiece principle that pursued the top in the trilogy “2112” “A FAREWELL TO KINGS” “HEMISPHERES” is fully open, including the major song “2112” “Xanadu” “Cygnus X-1” “Cygnus X-1, Masterpieces over 10 minutes, such as “Book II” and “La Villa Strangiato”, are a rush of rage. What’s more, such a group of masterpieces will be released from the frame of each side of the LP, and the world will be assembled in any song order.
Moreover, as mentioned above, the first half of the tour is wonderful. While the engine warmed up sufficiently in “North America # 1”, the physical strength recovered after 9 days off. From there, the tour resumes for the third performance … All the settings are already in place, and the best possible performances are screwed into your ears with the sound board directly connected to the de. Another thing, the taste of the first half of the tour is a set. Actually, there are some songs that are no longer played on this tour. There are three, “Something for Nothing”, “Cygnus X-1”, and “Circumstances”, but this work is a maximum set in which all of them are played because it is the first half of the tour. In particular, “Circumstances” is a repertoire that I couldn’t even hear on the daimyo “HEMISPHERES IN FRANKFURT”. It’s a live album where you can fully enjoy it with a sound that is directly connected to the table.

Honestly, the wildness of the sound board directly connected to the table is less than half a step from the completely official class “HEMISPHERES IN FRANKFURT”. It has not yet taken the throne at the top of the tour, but that is why this work has a tremendous power of vivid ensemble. It is a masterpiece that you can come on top of and enjoy even “Circumstances”. A scorching and intense sound board that should be touched by those who were impressed by “HEMISPHERES IN FRANKFURT”. Please be overwhelmed!

 

プログレ・ハードの極北とも言える“TOUR OF THE HEMISPHERES 1978-1979”。その模様をリアルに捉えたステレオサウンドボード・アルバムがアップグレードで登場です。
そんな本作に収められているのは「1978年12月2日デトロイト公演」。このツアーのサウンドボードと言えば、問答無用のオフィシャル級最高傑作盤『HEMISPHERES IN FRANKFURT(Cygnus 019/020)』がありますが、本作はあの超傑作をお持ちの方にも無視できない逸品。気になる内容の前に、まずはプログレ・ハードを極めたツアー全容からショウのポジションを確認しておきましょう。

以上、全139公演。約8ヶ月の間にこれだけのショウをこなしていたのですから、日程だけでも全盛を極めんとするバンドの勢いが感じられます。『HEMISPHERES IN FRANKFURT』は最終盤の「欧州」レッグだったわけですが、本作のデトロイト公演は、グッと初期に遡った「北米#2a」3公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
このショウからは近年になってサウンドボード録音が発掘され、大いに注目を集めました。そのクオリティは生々しさ全開のド直結サウンドボード。ライン録音にも様々な個性があるものですが、本作の超ダイレクト感はちょっと凄い。経緯はよく分かりませんが、音の感じは明らかにサウンドボード卓からの直接録音。大歓声が遠くに渦巻きつつ、歌声と演奏が丸裸で耳に突撃。左右のパンも強烈で、RUSHがズカズカと土足で脳髄に上がり込んでくるよう。もちろん、3人のアンサンブルもこれ以上はあり得ない超ド迫力&超鮮明。脳みその中にRUSHがいると言いますか、頭の中でギター弦やドラムの皮が震えてるような密着・没入感なのです。
それだけの強烈サウンドボードなのですが、発掘マスターには大きな欠点があった。それはピッチ。そこで海外マニアがピッチを正確に補正し、新たにアップグレード・バージョンを公開。本作は、そのマニア制作マスターをCD化したものなのです。
正確なピッチでさらに激烈になったサウンドで描かれるのは、これまた強烈極まる“TOUR OF THE HEMISPHERES”の世界。三部作『2112』『A FAREWELL TO KINGS』『HEMISPHERES』で頂点を究めたSF大作主義が全開で、大代表曲「2112」をはじめ「Xanadu」「Cygnus X-1」「Cygnus X-1, Book II」「La Villa Strangiato」などなど、10分超えの大作が怒濤のラッシュ。しかも、そうした大作群がLP片面ずつの枠からも開放され、自在な曲順で世界を組み上げていくのです。
しかも、上記したようにツアー前半なのが素晴らしい。「北米#1」でエンジンも充分に暖まりつつ、9日間のオフを挟んだことで体力も回復。そこからツアー再開3公演目……もう、すべてのお膳立てが揃っており、なるべくしてなった名演がド直結サウンドボードで耳にねじ込まれるのです。もう1つ、ツアー前半の旨みはセット。実は、このツアーは途中で演奏されなくなった曲があります。「Something for Nothing」「Cygnus X-1」「Circumstances」の3つなのですが、本作はツアー前半なためにそのすべてが演奏されているマキシマム・セットなのです。特に「Circumstances」は、大名盤『HEMISPHERES IN FRANKFURT』でさえ聴けなかったレパートリー。それを卓直結サウンドでたっぷりと味わえるライヴアルバムなのです。

正直なところ、卓直結サウンドボードのワイルドさは、完全オフィシャル級な『HEMISPHERES IN FRANKFURT』に半歩ほど及ばない。ツアー頂点の王座を奪うまでには至っていませんが、だからこそ鮮烈アンサンブルのド迫力は本作の方が凄まじくもある。その上に来て「Circumstances」まで楽しめる大傑作です。『HEMISPHERES IN FRANKFURT』に感動された方にこそぜひ触れていただきたい灼熱の激烈サウンドボード。どうぞ、圧倒されちゃってください!
