“POWER WINDOWS TOUR” is the only ultimate sound board sound source ever said. Appeared on permanent preservation press 2CD.

[Ultimate sound board master of stakeholder outflow] の The ultimate master was recorded in “April 16, 1986 Philadelphia Performance”. This is a super-excellent stereo sound board recording. It has always been a classic sound board called “POWER WINDOWS TOUR!”, But this work is completely different from the existing group. It is digitized directly from the master leaked from those involved at the time, and it is exactly the supreme board of “no more” quality.

This is the 1985/1986 RUSH. As usual (?) Circuit in North America, the main battlefield, with no eyes on other countries. I toured the United States & Canada thoroughly at my own pace, taking about 10 days off after a tour for about 2-3 weeks. “A SHOW OF HANDS” was adopted from the East Rutherford performance of “North America # 5”, but the Philadelphia performance of this work was the third concert of “North America # 6” about two weeks later .

However, the related master who first appeared in 2008 as “POWER RUN: PHILADELPHIA 1986” has no such deterioration. There are no dubbing marks or tape twists, and hiss is also a level of whether he / she listens with headphones and listens microscopically to notice. From a professional magazine at the time, “Natural sound quality and relatively little hissing clearly tells the youth of the source.” “In any case, it is a sound that greatly upgrades the already released board, a complete decision board. [The highest peak update board that further refines the ultimate master] Of course, mania all over the world is noisy for that shock quality. “POWER RUN: PHILADELPHIA 1986” was sold out and discontinued in an instant. This work is a refinement of such a legendary master with the latest mastering. It is a live album that realized “no more” than it should be. Of course, there is no source or child after processing a precious natural sound. Instead, they examined the slight noise and omissions that might have occurred during recording, and improved the completeness as a music work. There are many things, but the three points that are easy to understand are the opening “The Spirit of Radio”. Again, there was no problem with the normal dimensions, but upon closer examination, the recording volume changed slightly. This is due to the knobs of the field engineers, so I can’t say it’s a drawback, but it’s not true to the original performance. In this work, the emphasis is on gold latitude as a music work, and it is unified.
The second is a cut in the middle of “Red Sector A”. This was the same for the previous group, but it was not recorded for about 20 seconds at the timing of the change because Omoto was a 90-minute cassette. Therefore, this work is supplemented from the finest sound board “HAWAIIAN UNDER PRESSURE 1984 (Cygnus 016/017)”. Although not exactly the same performance, we have made it possible to enjoy it seamlessly. And the third is the instantaneous noise of the last drum solo in only one place. Although this is also the truth of Omoto Master, we pursued the beauty as a live album by reducing it as much as possible. I just listed three points that are easy to understand, but I think this alone will help you understand the concept of this work.

As mentioned earlier, part of “A SHOW OF HANDS” was recorded on “POWER WINDOWS TOUR”, but seven repertoires that could not be heard there were also performed, and “Middletown Dreams” was sealed for more than 10 years. Can be enjoyed with the potential of the 80’s.

[Another highest peak “POWER WINDOWS” demo] Such a sound board alone is a cultural heritage class, but it’s hard to feel sorry that it ends in the middle of the show because of the terribleness. Therefore, we added an even more delicious bonus sound board to this work. It is a demo of the studio “POWER WINDOWS”. At present, there is a version with unstable tape speed and cuts on the net, but this work is a different best master. Some of the songs that have already been released have been changed in song order according to the finished version, but this work is as recorded on the demo master.
And the contents are amazing. It’s a relatively advanced demo, so you can enjoy it as music, but it’s too rough to compare with the finished version. There are no decorative sounds such as keyboards and effects at all, and on the contrary, the basic tentative composition of the song is clarified. The finished version emphasizes the guitar rather than the powerful bass, and the riffs are dynamic. Also, the arrangement itself is completely different for “Manhattan Project” and “Middletown Dreams”.

This work, which preserved both of them with the highest peak update quality, is the ultimate soundboard album of the “POWER WINDOWS” era. “POWER WINDOWS TOUR”唯一と言われる究極サウンドボード音源の史上最高峰マスターがブラッシュアップ。永久保存プレス2CDで登場です。

その究極マスターが記録されたのは「1986年4月16日フィラデルフィア公演」。その超極上ステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。従来から「POWER WINDOWS TOURと言ったらこれ!」という定番中の大定番サウンドボードなのですが、本作は既発群とはまったく次元か異なる。当時の関係者から流出したマスターからダイレクトにデジタル化されており、まさに「これ以上はない」クオリティの至高盤なのです。
本作最大のポイントは、その凄まじすぎるクオリティにあるわけですが、まずはショウのポジション。このツアーは公式盤『A SHOW OF HANDS』の一部としても残されておりますので、その関係を当時のスケジュールから俯瞰してみましょう。

《10月14日『POWER WINDOWS』発売》

これが1985年/1986年のRUSH。例の如く(?)他の国々には目もくれずに主戦場の北米をサーキット。おおよそ2-3週間ツアーしては10日間ほどオフを取るマイペースで全米&カナダを徹底的に巡りました。『A SHOW OF HANDS』には「北米#5」のイーストラザフォード公演から採用されましたが、本作のフィラデルフィア公演はその約2週間後となる「北米#6」3公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
先述の通り、そんなショウは定番サウンドボードとして知られてきたわけですが、本作はその最高峰を更新するもの。何しろ、関係者がミックス卓から直接録音した究極ジェネのカセットをマスターにしているのです。既発群に比べて冒頭部分が15秒ほど長く録音されていますが、それは大元マスターの証に過ぎない。真の衝撃は、全編を貫くサウンドそのもの。何よりも圧倒的なのはナチュラルな鮮度。既発群でベストと言われてきたものでもテープにダメージやヒスノイズがあり、それを軽減し、コンプで補整。そのイコライジングのセンスで優劣を競っているようなものでした。そのためダメージが耳に付く残念マスターか、耳が疲れる非常に人工的な音のどちらかしかありませんでした。しかし2008年に『POWER RUN: PHILADELPHIA 1986』として初登場した関係者マスターは、そうした劣化がまるで見当たらない。ダビング痕もテープ・ヨレもまったく見られず、ヒスもヘッドフォンで耳を澄ませて顕微鏡的に聴いて気づくかどうかのレベル。当時の専門誌からも「ナチュラルな音質と、その割に少ないヒスノイズがソースの若さを如実に物語っている」「ともかく既発盤を大幅にアップグレードする音であり、完全な決定盤。全RUSHファン必携音源」「久々の完璧なブートレッグだ」と言葉を尽くした激賛が寄せられました。

もちろん、それだけの衝撃クオリティに世界中のマニアが騒然。『POWER RUN: PHILADELPHIA 1986』は瞬く間に完売・廃盤となりました。本作は、そんな伝説の関係者マスターを最新マスタリングで磨き込んだもの。本来「これ以上はない」はずの「これ以上」を実現したライヴアルバムなのです。もちろん、せっかくのナチュラル・サウンドを加工してしまっては元も子もない。そうではなく、録音時に発生したと思われるわずかなノイズや欠けを検証し、より音楽作品としての完成度を高めたのです。いろいろとあるのですが、分かりやすいポイントを3カ所ほど挙げますと、まずはオープニングの「The Spirit of Radio」。ここも通常の次元では問題なかったものの、よくよく検証してみると録音ボリュームがわずかに変化していました。これは現場エンジニアのツマミ具合によるものなので欠点と言い切れないのですが、本来の演奏に忠実とも言えない。本作では、音楽作品としての金緯度を重視し、統一化しているのです。
2つめは「Red Sector A」中盤のカット。これは既発群でも同じだったのですが、大元が90分カセットだったためにチェンジのタイミングで20秒ほど録音されなかった。そこで、本作は極上サウンドボード『HAWAIIAN UNDER PRESSURE 1984(Cygnus 016/017)』から補填。厳密には同じ演奏ではないものの、シームレスに楽しめるように致しました。そして、3つめは最後のドラムソロに1カ所だけ入っていたザッという瞬間ノイズ。これも大元マスターの真実ではあるものの、可能な限り軽減してライヴアルバムとしての美しさを追求したのです。あくまで分かりやすいポイントとして3つ挙げただけですが、これだけでも本作のコンセプトをご理解いただけるのではないでしょうか。
そんな最高峰更新クオリティで描かれるショウこそが素晴らしい。元々録音されていない終盤「Red Lenses」「Tom Sawyer」「2112」「Grand Designs」「In The Mood」が未収録なのは致し方ないところですが、それでも“POWER WINDOWS TOUR”ならではのレパートリーがたっぷり。ここでその内容を整理してみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。終盤がないのは残念ではあるものの、この時期らしい80年代ナンバーはたっぷり。先述のように『A SHOW OF HANDS』の一部は“POWER WINDOWS TOUR”で録音されたわけですが、そこでも聴けないレパートリーが7曲も披露され、その後10年以上も封印された「Middletown Dreams」のような曲も80年代のポテンシャルで楽しめるのです。

【もう1つの最高峰『POWER WINDOWS』デモ】
そんな本編サウンドボードだけでも文化遺産級ですが、凄まじいからこそショウの途中で終わってしまう残念感は如何ともし難い。そこで、本作にはさらに美味しいいボーナス・サウンドボードも追加収録しました。それはスタジオ作『POWER WINDOWS』デモ。現在、ネット上にテープスピードが不安定でカットもあるバージョンも流布されていますが、本作はそれとは異なるベスト・マスター。既発の中には完成版に沿った曲順に変更されたものもありますが、本作はデモ・マスターに録音されていた通りです。
そして、その中身も驚異深い。わりと製作が進んだ段階のデモなので音楽として楽しめるのですが、完成版とは比較にならないほどラフでもある。キーボードやエフェクトなどの装飾音が全然入っておらず、それどころか曲のベーシックな仮組みが詳らかにされている。完成版では力強かったベースよりもギターの方が強調されており、リフがダイナミック。また、「Manhattan Project」「Middletown Dreams」等ではアレンジそのものもまったく違います。

ツアーでただ1本とされるサウンドボードの究極形である関係者流出マスターに、スタジオ・デモ。その双方を最高峰更新クオリティで永久保存した本作は、まさに『POWER WINDOWS』時代の究極のサウンドボード・アルバムです。それこそ公式作品の隣に置いて頂きたい超極上の1本。どうぞ、心ゆくまで存分にお楽しみください。

The main press 2CD is a super-decision board that permanently preserves the tour’s only sound board and studio demo with the highest quality ever. This is the ultimate soundboard album for the age of “POWER WINDOWS”. If you mention something that is missing in such a super famous board, it will be “sight”. So, we have prepared a masterpiece video that will allow you to witness the tour site and taste the end of the show that was not recorded on the main press 2CD.
The film was shot at “April 4, 1986 at Uniondale”. A concert on the last day of “North America # 5″ as described in the tour schedule of the main story, 12 days before the Philadelphia performance. The audience shot. Of course, the point of this work is not only the length. After all, a wide view is wonderful. It was taken from Alex Rifson’s 2nd floor seat, with no arm or head in the front row. What’s even more exciting is that it uses a lot of zoom, so you can see the highlights of each member in a close-up. Alex and Synth, who walk lightly on the stage, make use of synths and see Geddy Lee, who was called “the busiest frontman in the world”, and the Neil part who misses the looks unique to the 80’s. Of course, the screen may be blacked out because it is a hidden camera with a large camera of the time, but it is precious to be able to see almost the entire live and the entire scene without projectiles.
The sound is also wonderful. Of course, it is a different level than the main press 2CD of the direct connection sound board, but the sound played on the stage arrives straight and the core of the music is firm and thick as well as the spacious view. On top of that, you can enjoy plenty of realism and on-site feeling that had been missing in the main soundboard album.
And this “sense of experience” is also important RUSH looks at the best seat with a wide field of view and straight music. There are various ways to enjoy live recordings, but there are two main types: “simulated concerts” and “watching live performances”.
