The 1990 Urban Jungle Tour was rescheduled due to Keith’s finger injury on July 10th, which was an off day, and the second half of Wembley Stadium was originally scheduled for July 13th and 14th. Was postponed, and as a result, the treatment was changed to the last two performances of the tour. This made Chiaki Raku in the live performance of the Revival Rolling Stones, which took almost a year from the Steel Wheels tour in Philadelphia (see “PHILADELPHIA 1989 FIRST NIGHT”) on August 31st of the previous year.
Thanks to these two performances, the film for the later movie “AT THE MAX” was also shot, but only four songs were adopted from the performance on August 25, the last day of the tour. It wasn’t enough to get a glimpse of the endless beauty of the Stones revival.
The title of “A LAST BOW” was supposed to reduce the drinking of this enthusiast. As the name suggests, it is a very luxurious package with tour data, a little liner notes, a guitar pick and even a small Jack Daniel’s in a wooden box suitable for the item that recorded the last day of the tour. Even when it was released, it was a rare item that was rarely distributed, yet expensive, and was on the market.
However, the CD itself containing the final day of Wembley Stadium, which is important, was recorded by the audience, and the sound was a little closer to one side with a distant sound image, and the end was a poor sound source with some distortion. That is. The sound quality was unbalanced due to the extremely luxurious binding and the high price.

Even so, for the last day of Wembley Stadium, only “A LAST BOW” was available for a long time, and even if it was obtained, it would be stressful to listen to it as music. It is strange that a group like Stones had only that much sound source for the relatively modern performance of 1990. However, in May of this year, a new audience recording of the final day of Wembley Stadium appeared on the net, which surprises enthusiasts all over the world.
This is the new sound source, but in short, it is an audience recording with higher sound quality than “A LAST BOW”. It is a flaw in the ball that the sound image fluctuates periodically throughout, and the instability of the sound image is remarkable in the first two songs, but it is stable at once from “Harlem Shuffle”. After that, the sound quality improved and the details of the performance became surprisingly clear from “Midnight Rambler”. A level that can no longer be compared with the distant sound image of “A LAST BOW”.
To be clear, the sound source of “A LAST BOW” was of the quality that would be released on a CD-R now, but this time the sound source is fully qualified for release on a limited press CD. At the time of its release, we equalized and improved the muddy bass that is often found in audience recordings at stadiums.

Also, in “A LAST BOW”, the sound was so far away that it was difficult to know whether the performance was good or bad, but when I listened to this sound source, I was able to hear the energetic performance that seems to be the last day of the tour. Will remind you of. Above all, from “Miss You”, the band’s tight performance and Mick’s enthusiastic singing are clear enough to understand at a glance, and Keith’s “Before They Make Me Run” is so tight that it makes me laugh. It seems that the performance (or rather, I ran) was the last day of the tour.
As the show progressed further, there was no next performance, so the full-blown song that didn’t know Mick’s hold (doesn’t cover his throat) was a masterpiece. The finale “Satisfaction” or “Sympathy For The Devil” is a prime example, and it’s funny that Keith’s intro begins a bit in jeopardy in the following “Street Fighting Man”. In addition, the song, which was a representative repertoire of the urban jungle, and when listened to by audience recording in this way, the arrangement that makes use of the rhythm of the original studio version sounds quite fresh.
And behind Mick’s introduction of each member including support, it is interesting that each musician (especially Matt Clifford) is on the keyboard and it seems to be the last day! When it came to the scene where Bill Wyman was introduced, each person was even more excited and excited, but it was also this day that it was strangely the last stage in his Stones. The tour final, which is such a historic day, will finally be released to the satisfaction of enthusiasts with this new sound source.
Of course, as with “WEMBLEY STADIUM 1990 1ST NIGHT”, the exhilarating chorus unique to Wembley Stadium in “Ruby Tuesday” and the last two songs of the live is alive (it feels good to hear)!

1990年のアーバン・ジャングル・ツアーはオフ日だった7月10日にキースが指を怪我したことでスケジュールが変更、当初は7月の13と14日に行われる予定だったウェンブリー・スタジアム後半戦が延期、結果としてツアーのラスト二回公演へと扱いが変わりました。これによって前年の8月31日のフィラデルフィア（「PHILADELPHIA 1989 FIRST NIGHT」でどうぞ）のスティール・ホイールズ・ツアーからほぼ一年を費やした復活ローリング・ストーンズのライブ活動における千秋楽となったのです。
おかげでこれら二公演では後の映画「AT THE MAX」用の撮影も行われたものの、ツアー最終日である8月25日の公演からの採用テイクはたったの4曲。ストーンズ復活の一年の有終の美を垣間見るには物足りないものでした。
このマニアの留飲を下げてくれるはず…だったのが「A LAST BOW」というタイトル。その名の通りツアー最終日を収録したアイテムに相応しく木箱にはツアーデータやちょっとしたライナーノーツ、さらにギターピックに小型ジャック・ダニエルまで付いているという大変に豪華なパッケージ。リリースされた当時ですら流通した数は少なく、なおかつ高価で市場に出回ったというレアアイテムだったのです。
ところが肝心のウェンブリー・スタジアム最終日を収めたCD自体はスタンド席から録音されたと思しきオーディエンス録音で遠い音像で音が片側に寄り気味、とどめは若干の歪みまで生じたお粗末な音源が収録されていたという。非常に豪華な装丁や高価さからは到底釣り合わない音質に肩透かしを食らったものでした。

それでもウェンブリー・スタジアム最終日に関しては長いこと「A LAST BOW」しかアイテムが存在せず、仮に手に入れられたとしても音楽として聞きこむにはストレスを免れないという状況がずっと続いていました。ストーンズのようなグループで1990年という比較的に近代の公演の音源がその程度のものしか存在しなかったというのも不思議。しかし今年の5月になってネット上にウェンブリー・スタジアム最終日の新たなオーディエンス録音が登場して世界中のマニアを驚かせています。
今回の新音源ですが、端的に言って「A LAST BOW」よりも高音質なオーディエンス録音。全体を通して周期的に音像がふらつくのは玉に瑕ですし、さらに最初の二曲では音像の不安定さが顕著ですが「Harlem Shuffle」からは一気に安定。その後も尻上がりに音質が良くなって「Midnight Rambler」からは演奏のディティールも驚くほどくっきりと。もはや「A LAST BOW」の遠い音像とは比較にならないレベル。
はっきり言って「A LAST BOW」の音源は現在ならCD-Rで出されるようなクオリティでしたが、今回の音源は限定プレスCDでのリリースの資格十分。そのリリースに際してはスタジアムでのオーディエンス録音にありがちな低音の濁った状態をイコライズして改善させました。

それに「A LAST BOW」では音が遠くて演奏の良しあしをうかがい知るにも厳しいものがありましたが、今回の音源を聞くと改めてツアー最終日らしい気合の入った演奏を聞かせてくれていたことを再認識させてくれます。中でも「Miss You」からは一聴して解るくらいバンドのタイトな演奏とミックの覇気に溢れた熱唱が冴えわたっていますし、キースが歌う「Before They Make Me Run」に至っては笑ってしまうくらいタイトな演奏（というか走った）もツアー最終日らしいではありませんか。
さらにショーが進むと次の公演がないということもあり、ミックの押さえを知らない（喉をかばわない）全開の歌いっぷりが圧巻。フィナーレの「Satisfaction」、あるいは「Sympathy For The Devil」などはその最たる例ですし、続く「Street Fighting Man」はキースのイントロがちょっと危うく始まるのも微笑ましい。それにアーバン・ジャングルを代表するレパートリーであった同曲、こうしてオーディエンス録音で聞くとオリジナルのスタジオバージョンのリズムを活かしたアレンジがなかなか新鮮に響きます。
そしてサポートを含んだ各メンバーをミックが紹介する後ろで各ミュージシャン（特にマット・クリフォード）がキーボードではやし立てるのがまた最終日らしくて面白い！そこではビル・ワイマンが紹介される場面になると各人がさらにはしゃぎながら盛り上がっているのですが、奇しくも彼のストーンズにおけるラスト・ステージとなってしまったのがこの日でもある。そんな歴史的な日でもあるツアー・ファイナルが今回の新音源によってようやくマニアも納得のリリースが実現します。
もちろん「WEMBLEY STADIUM 1990 1ST NIGHT」の時と同様「Ruby Tuesday」やライブのラスト2曲でのウェンブリー・スタジアムならではの爽快な合唱は健在（これが聴いてて気持ちいいんです）！
