Among the multitrack recording rough mixes of the 1981 tour that was excavated in large numbers nearly 10 years ago, the series performance at Rosemont Horizon in Illinois became popular along with the East Rutherford series performance. “CHICAGO 1981”, which recorded the first day of January 23, was a masterpiece that was sold out shortly after its release.
Not only recording with the highest sound quality unique to multitrack recording, but also the fact that there was no performance or cut of each song that occurred in most of the series of sound sources that appeared at that time, and it was a popular secret that it captured the whole live of the day firmly. .. Almost 10 years after that, this masterpiece will be re-released this week at the same time as “EAST RUTHERFORD 1981 1ST NIGHT”.
First of all, the title was “CHICAGO 1981” in the previous release, but this time it has been changed to “ROSEMONT 1981 1ST NIGHT”. This means that, like “TEMPE 1981”, the name was changed to a place name that matches the actual location. Since the venue Rosemont Horizon at that time was near Chicago, it had tended to be difficult to find in the same area until now, but in reality it is in Rosemont instead of Chicago, although it is in the same state of Illinois. This is also a title that reflects the same situation as “TEMPE 1981”, which was not actually Phoenix.

When the multitrack recording rough mix of the day was released at that time, it had the drawback that the localization of Keith and Ronnie was overturned at the beginning of the live, but it was adjusted firmly when it was released in 2012. It was also a popular secret that the sound source with the highest sound quality can now be heard with peace of mind.
Besides, the sound source of this day had a charm unique to rough mix that was different from East Rutherford, and that was also the vivid presence of Keith and Ronnie’s two guitars. Therefore, the correction of localization was a prerequisite for the release of the limited press CD. Of course, when it came to the interlude of “Neighbours,” I could hardly hear the saxophone solo played by Ernie Watts, which was a rough mix in another sense.
After all, the charm that you can enjoy with the balance and vividness as if the two guitars that require the live sound of Stones are sticking out is great. On the other hand, there was no problem with the sound source other than that, and this time it was in a state where no new overhaul (also in charge of Graf Zeppelin) was required more than “EAST RUTHERFORD 1981 ~”.

And speaking of November of the 1981 tour, it was a time when Mick changed to a singing style that saves his throat as the tour continues with the momentum of singing until then, but still “EAST” “RUTHERFORD 1981-” has a remnant of Mick’s naughty songs, and it was also a record of the time when there was a sense of mess in the performance.
However, from around the Cedar Falls performance that was held three days before Rosemont Horizon, the feeling of messiness disappeared, and it is said that he began to listen to the performance that was faster and more complete than before. Even on the first day of Rosemont, a wonderful performance that can be called such a sharpened day is unfolding.
The sense of speed is clear from beginning to end, and thanks to the vividness of the guitar by this rough mix, you can see how the two performers are getting hotter and hotter. Therefore, the engine of “Let Me Go” etc. is fully opened. It can be said that this speedy performance is a typical scene where the 81 tour has reached the next level.
Thanks to that, the scene where Mick forgot the lyrics at the beginning of “Tumbling Dice” and started singing with a mixture of words does not seem to be negative, but rather it seems to be a smiley scene with a lot of momentum. Anyway, the completeness of the whole performance is very high, and it is a masterpiece that Keith pulls the band with the strongest sense of speed in “Jumping Jack Flash” before Angkor. East Rutherford, who played wildly, and Rosemont, who was sharpened while being the representative sound source of the same November. Such a contrasting masterpiece and famous sound source will be revived for the first time in a while!

(Remaster memo)
★ Phase correction only. Others have no problem originally.
★ Originally it seems to be a rough mix, and Mick’s vocals are to the right until the beginning of “Let’s Spend”. However, since the performances other than vocals are not biased, this is not a phase problem, it is originally such a rough mix It seems to be a mix.
