2曲目から5曲目までが上記「BACK TO THE HAGUE」LPと同じ音源からの収録で、 「READY STEADY STONES」(VGP)にてテープ・ソースより過去にCD化済みですが、 聞いていただければ分かる通り格段にクリアでシンバル音などもかなりオンに聞こえるようになりました。 ちなみにこの4曲、ボーカルがほとんどオフで聞き取れないので有名ですが、 録音者や周りの人達の会話から取材のためのポータブル機材での収録のように感じられます。 ちなみに「BEAUTIFUL DELILAH」は流出しているのはほんの一瞬ですが映像も存在しています。

6曲目から14曲目までが本CDのメインとも言える’65年9月13日のハンブルグ、 アーンストメリックハレでのライン収録音源。PA卓直での収録のようでミックのボーカルが終始大きく演奏は低めで、 例えると’65年ポールウィナーズのライブ音源のバランスに近いかも知れません。 RED TONGUE RECORDSより3CD＋5LPという物凄いボリュームの先発盤がありますが、 本盤は新音源をメインにしてよりコンパクトに構成。オープニングの「EVERYBODY～」の頭切れ等RED TONGUE盤と収録タイムは一緒ですが、 別経路のテープ・ソースより収録しており派手なEQ加工が施された既発と比べてよりナチュラルで原本のサウンドを尊重したマスタリングとなっています。 ミックはショー前にワインでもしこたま飲んだのかすごぶる上機嫌で、 やたらタメを効かした唱法が目立ちます。「THE LAST TIME」前にチャーリーのMCがしっかり聞けるのもファンには嬉しいところ。

15曲目から22曲目までが’88年にTSPが変名でLPリリースした「THE RIOT SHOW/BERIN 1965」で聞けた9月15日のベルリン公演。 こちらも後に「READY STEADY STONES」(VGP)にてテープ・ソースよりCD化済みです。 今回はそれとは別ジェネレーションのテープより再度リマスター作業を行い、オリジナルのやたらギター音が耳に刺さる感じから若干やわらかい感触の音質に調整しています。 この部分は観客が家庭用ポータブル・レコーダーを持ち込んで収録した元々質の悪いものがソースですので正直初心者には厳しい音と言えるでしょう。

ラストのトラック23は’64年6月のアメリカ初上陸時のTV出演であるディーン・マーチンがホストのハリウッド・パレスでのリハーサル・テイク。 曲の途中でキースのエピフォン・カジノの弦がブリッジから落ちてしまい、「コンコンコン」と異音を発してメンバーが笑い出して、途中で止めてしまうという珍しいボツテイク。

ジャケットのドイツ・レコード・クラブ・イッシューの「IN ACTION」の図柄は既に’66年ホノルル公演を収録した同名CDでおなじみですが、 ステージの撮影日時は全て’65年ドイツ・ツアー初日のミュンスター公演からのものですので、今回のリリースの本作の方がより内容にフィットしていると思いますが如何でしょうか。
