If you are not a Stones fan but a fan who loves rock, once you’ve heard of it, an eternal masterpiece “GET YER YA – YA’S OUT”. “GET YER ~” is the first Stone’s live album when thinking that it was summarizing into one album until using Strikes’ first live album “GOT LIVE IF YOU WANT IT” cheering on studio recording. ところがその制作は思わぬアイテムの登場によって急がなくてはいけなくなってしまう。そんな急展開の原因となったがあのストーンズ初ブート「LIVE’R THAN YOU’LL EVER BE」。後にTMOQを名乗るテーパーが生み出したこの歴史的名盤は、当時のオーディエンス録音としてはこれ以上望めないほどオンな音像で11月9日オークランド公演を収録。何よりも11月に行われたショーの模様が1969年の内にリリースされてしまうという早業は、ミキシング作業やジャケット制作などに時間を要するオフィシャルでは到底不可能だったもの。それどころか「GET YER～」がリリースされたのはツアーから一年近くが経過した1970年9月だった。。
結果として大センセーションを巻き起こした「LIVE’R THAN～」に対抗すべくして、ストーンズの肝いりでリリースされたのが「GET YER YA-YA’S OUT!」。LP一枚という時間の制約上、ショー完全収録からは程遠い内容（それは「LIVE’R THAN～」も同様）だったものの、さすがにマルチトラック使用のオフィシャル・ライブアルバムならではの完成度によって名作の一つに数えられています。
とはいっても「完成度」は実際のショーを忠実に再現するという意味ではなく、一枚のライブアルバムとしての意味を含みます。既に「GOT LIVE IF YOU WANT IT」で実践済みだったミックのボーカルの差し替えは随所で行われている。おまけに「Carol」や「Honky Tonk Women」などには、各楽器のアンプ前に立てられた録音マイクがステージのモニターから返って来た音を拾うなどして当日のミックの歌声が生き残ってしまい、録り直されたボーカルと重なったダブルトラック状態と化してしまいました。

それ以上に顕著なのがステージ本番とまったく違うミックの歌い方。本アルバムでは大半の曲でミックがボーカルを差し替えており、それが後にストーンズのライブアルバム制作における慣例にまで化してしまう。それにアルバムがリリースされた頃には「LIVE’R THAN YOU’LL EVER BE」がファンの間に行き渡っていただけでなく、ライブアルバムのベースになった公演をオーディエンス録音で収録した「STONED-M.S.G.」のようなアイテムまでもが出回っており、ある程度のマニアであれば「GET YER YA-YA’S OUT!」におけるやけに力の入ったミックの歌いっぷりの違和感を気付いていたはず。
それはもう、オープニングの「Jumpin’ Jack Flash」からしてありありと。実際のステージではルーズなロック調で歌っていたミックが、ここではR&Bシンガーのような力強い調子で歌っている。それに輪をかけるのがキースの熱唱ハーモニー。ステージでは「Honky Tonk Women」でバックコーラスを務めていただけなのに、ここではオープニングどころかフィナーレの「Street Fighting Man」においてもミックと仲良く熱唱。先に挙げたLPを聞き込んでいたマニアであれば、実際にはそこまでアツく歌ったりハモったりしてないだろうが！とツッコミを入れずにはいられない。とはいえ、今となってはこの差し替えも一つの「味」となったのは確かなのですが。
さらにLP一枚に当時のセットリスト全曲を入れることは到底不可能、それでいて当時のショーは二枚組ほどの長さでもない。となればいくつかの曲が落とされる。それは仕方ないとしても、さらにいくつかの曲で短縮編集まで行われています。この手法もまた後のストーンズ・ライブアルバムでエスカレート。
そうした念入りな作業が行われただけのことはあり、オフィシャルなライブアルバムの仕上がりとしては超一級品。確かにドキュメント性は半減していたものの、それでもなお69年ツアーの熱狂を伝えてくれた名作でしょう。

だからこそマニアは「この音質でショーの完全版聞けたら…」と見果てぬ夢を持っていたものです。そんな溜飲をオーディエンス録音で下げてくれたのが先のオークランドにサンディエゴといった極上音源群でした。ところが「GET YER YA-YA’S OUT!」のリリースから40周年もの歳月が経過した2009年、同アルバムがバージョンアップを果たしたことで夢が現実に近付きました。「GET YER～」本体には未収録だったトラックが同アルバムと遜色のない完璧なクオリティでのリリースが実現。
突如として迎えた恵まれた状況を前に、それらの音源を駆使して実際のライブのセットリストで聞いてみたい…。おまけに近代のテクノロジーならそうした組み換えは容易。マニアなら試された方もおられるでしょうし、実際にまとめ直されたアイテムも存在しました。そこを今回のリリースはさらに踏み込み、ただ実際のセットリストに並べ替えるだけでなく「GET YER～」で見られた一部の短縮編集を補填し、楽曲の完全収録を実現したネクスト・レベルな仕上がり。
マニアの方であればご存知でしょうが、「GET YER～」はラフ・ミックスを収録したアセテートが存在しています。今回はそれを補填要員とすることでカット個所をアジャスト。それは二か所に及んだのですが、最初は良く知られている「Sympathy for the Devil」の後半。約50秒強の補填を行うことで全編サウンドボード録音による完全収録を実現。むしろ今回のアジャストにおいて世界中のマニアを驚かせるのは「Midnight Rambler」の演奏が始まる直前の部分でしょう。ミックが曲名を告げて沸かせる直前の部分ですが、30秒超に及びアセテート盤の方が長く収録されています。更に作業を進める過程で、オフィシャル盤に収録されている部分で、チャーリーのドラム・ロールとミックの掛け声の間に0:15秒という微妙なカット(本盤のタイム0:42の部分)が有る事が判明しました。アセテート盤ではカット無く収録されている事から、その部分を含めてシームレスに繋ぎました。
こうして実際のセットリストであの名作ライブアルバムが聞かれるようになったのはもちろん、アセテートからの補填によって最長収録までも実現。これは文字通りのコンプリートというだけでなく、本家「GET YER YA-YA’S OUT!」では再現し切れなかった1969年アメリカ・ツアーのドキュメントとしても極上の内容。もちろん音質はパーフェクトですし、こうしてコンプリートな状態で味わえる「GET YER～」は本当にかっちょいい～！
