このアルバムは1968年という時代を反映してか、ステレオとモノラル二種類のミックスでリリースされています。しかし現在オフィシャルCDで手に入れられるのはステレオだけで、モノ・ミックスはCD化されたことがありません。しかも60年代のオリジナル・モノLPはマニアの間で高い人気を誇り、ましてや本アルバムのような名盤となれば価格も高騰。そこに目を付けて、モノLPから収録したデジパックのCDアイテムがリリースされたことがありました。しかしマトリクスなども気にせずに手に入れられたモノ盤から適当にCD化したのでしょう、静かな曲には堂々とスクラッチ・ノイズが入ってしまうといった状態がいただけません。

そこで今回は「BEGGARS BANQUET」のモノLPをコンディションが極上かつ初回盤であるマトリックス4A/2Aのデイスクから細心の注意を払って収録。60年代オリジナル・モノならではの鮮度と迫力あるサウンドを気軽にCDで楽しめるアイテムとなりました。本アルバムがストーンズ黄金期の到来を告げたことに疑いの余地はありませんが、以降のアルバムと比べて非常に荒々しくてざらついた録音状態、それでいて非常にベーシックな演奏アレンジの曲が多いアルバムでもあります。例えば「Jigsaw Puzzle」などは聴き慣れたステレオよりも俄然迫力があり、モノの後でステレオを聴くとスカスカした演奏に聴こえる曲が少なくありません。
