　1999年に行われた「NO SECURITY」ツアーから新たな音源の登場です。前の二年で「BRIDGES TO BABYLON」ツアーを一旦終わらせたストーンズが99年に行ったツアーはそれまでと違ったコンセプトで行われただけでなく、アリーナ・オンリーでアメリカを回ったことから話題を呼びました。そのツアーを収録したアイテムも当時多数リリースされたものですが、意外にも2月中旬の公演は現在に至るまでアイテムがごっそりと抜け落ちた状態となっています。あのサウンドボード録音でおなじみアナハイム二日目の後がこのツアーのミッシング・リンクとなっていたのです。
　そんな時期から今回は2月19日のミルウォーキー公演を収録。そのオーディエンス録音は最近になって登場したものですが、そのクリアネスや鮮度の良さは抜群。「NO SECURITY」ツアーと言えばアリーナ限定だったことからオーディエンス録音はホール・エコーに包まれたものが多かったのですが、今回の音源もやはりホール・エコーに包まれた状態です。よって音像に関してはそれほどオンな状態とは言えないでしょう。しかし豊かで広がりのある臨場感は抜群、ストーンズ近年におけるライブ史の中でも特異な位置にあるツアーから初登場のライブを見事に再現してくれる優良音源の登場となりました。
　このツアーにおいて「Memory Motel」はレギュラーな扱いで演奏されていたのがスペシャルなコンセプトを打ち出したツアーらしいところですが、その演奏のジェントルな雰囲気は他のツアーの演奏とは一味違う味わいがあります。盛り上がる歓声の中から浮かび上がるイントロ、そこから歌い始めるミックにはうっとりさせられてしまうことでしょう。それ以上にこのツアーにおける目玉のレパートリーとなった「Some Girls」は他の日と同様に破壊力を感じさせるほどの演奏ですが、「Paint It Black」のタイトな演奏ぶりも他のツアーとははっきりと違った味わいがあり、ここ最近のヨーロッパツアーを聴きなれた方にもきっと新鮮な演奏だと感じられるのではないでしょうか。最近だとばかり思っていたこのツアーですらもはや15年前の出来事です。
　Bステージに移ると残念ながら音質がこもってしまうのですが、97年からのツアーでBステージを使いこなしてきたストーンズだけに、これまた本ツアーならではの選曲「Route 66」から始める演奏はどれも素晴らしい出来を示しています。中でも「Just My Imagination」は今年のツアーで何度かリクエスト曲として候補に挙げられてきたものの、結局は演奏されずじまい。そんな溜飲も今回初登場の99年バージョンを聴けば少しは下がるかと思います。そして何しろ音源がリリースされない時期からの発掘です、世界中のストーンズ・ファンが注目する新音源は当然プレスCDでの限定リリースが当たり前。「NO SECURITY」ツアーから久々の新音源をじっくりとお楽しみください！
