このことに関しては、当店が89年ツアーの音源をリリースするたびに触れてきた問題ではありますが、過去のシェア・スタジアムや最近のフォックスボロにアトランタといった、当店からの89年ツアー・アイテムと比べてワンランク落ちる音質であることは事実でしょう。そんな中で安心の音源コレクター「Krw_co」が最新トランスファーにてネット上に公開してくれたバージョンを元にしています。

そして終始テーパーの周りが騒がしく、演奏の音像にはやや距離感があるのですが、それこそがこの音源の大きな魅力なのです。何しろこの日は壮絶な盛り上がり。アメリカのコンサート録音にありがちな、ただ騒がしいだけの臨場感とはちょっと違う。1981年以来となるストーンズのアメリカ・ツアーを待ちわびていたオーディエンスの熱狂は、耳障りというよりも、むしろ聴いていて興奮を呼び起こすほど。それに加え、オープニングBGMである「Continental Drift」が流れる前の会場アナウンスが捉えられていることがまた興奮を誘います。そもそも当店がリリースした名作オークランド94年ボックスにおいても同地での別格な盛り上がりが捉えられていたものですが、この日はそれをも上回ってしまう。

そんなSteel Wheelsから米国でシングルカットされた3枚が今回のアイテムです。消えゆくレコードを象徴するものなのかこれらのUSシングル盤にはピクチャスリーがリリース時には既に付属していませんでした。またトラック1と3はシングルバージョン、2と4はアルバム未収録のセッション風ブルースナンバー(6はアルバム収録曲ですが同じくセッション風ブルースナンバー)なのはみなさんにはお馴染みでしょう。
