来日が決定したローリング・ストーンズ、前回の来日は2006年のことです。この時の音源は全公演のイヤモニ傍受音源に加え、さいたまスーパーアリーナがテレビ放送されるという、サウンドボード系の音源が非常に恵まれたツアーとなっています。しかし傍受系の音源にはベースが入っていないなどのバランスに難があったことから違和感がどうしても拭えず、マニアの間では「通常の」オーディエンス録音が好まれたものです。ところが札幌公演だけは東京と比べセットリストの魅力が乏しく、プレスのタイトルはリリースされず、CDRに留まっていました。
本盤は、来日時にネットにアップされたオーディエンス音源の中でも、群を抜いたくクオリティであり、今改めて聴いてみても実に素晴らしい録音状態なのだから驚きです。まず何と言ってもオンな音像とリアルな質感は本当に素晴らしく、そのずば抜けたクリアネスはまったく色褪せていません。当時リリースされていたCD-Rタイトルと比べてもその差は歴然としています。しかもこの日はオープニングの「Jumping Jack Flash」でミックのボーカル・マイクの調子が悪く、歌が途切れてしまうというトラブルが起きていたのですが、それも先の傍受音源に引けを取らないリアルさでしっかり捉えられています。これだけでも今回の録音がいかに高音質か解っていただけることでしょう。そんな忘れ去られていた札幌公演の優良オーディエンス・マスターを初めてプレスCD化しました。前述のとおり、先のストーンズのジャパンツアーは5公演行われましたが、放送された埼玉公演は別として、この札幌公演だけがイヤモニ傍受音源盤以外の「純然たるオーディエンス録音」でのプレス盤のリリースがありませんでした。よって本タイトルは、2006年札幌公演の「純然たるオーディエンス録音」としては初のプレスCD化となります。これだけでもストーンズ・ファンにとっては嬉しいリリースと言えるのではないでしょうか。
