As soon as it was released in 2013, the phantom masterpiece “ROGER WATERS with ERIC CLAPTON-THE GUNNER’S DREAM”, which was sold out instantly, will finally come back as a limited edition this weekend. Two years after the reaction, in 2015, a re-press board was released, but it was also sold out in no time. Since then, it has been an incredible situation that for several years has been this famous board / sound source but cannot be easily obtained. Finally, the long-awaited 3rd press is available. The best Roger solo title of the last 10 years is approaching the end of the 2010s, and now the new artwork is completely refurbished and re-appears from the Sigma label! !

Speaking of the 1984 “Hitchhiking Pros and Cons” tour that Roger Waters performed for the first time as a solo, it was not only the full participation of the album, but also with Eric Clapton who joined the tour, and the former King Crimson was Mel It became a big topic at the time because Collins participated. A number of audience recordings (* AUD) appeared from the tour to entertain fans and enthusiasts. Among them, the US performance in Chicago on July 26 was one day in 2013. It suddenly appeared on the net as a stereo sound board (*, SBD) sound source that was not even known to exist, and it has made enthusiastic fans all over the world noisy. This was released by Wolfgang’s Vault, and it is definitely a real stereo SBD sound source that would have leaked from some officials and staff, and other hitchhiking sound sources occupied only by AUD recordings It boasted an overwhelming quality that marked the line. This Sigma also suddenly converted it into a press CD and realized the world’s first release with a limited numbering sticker in May of the same year (※ Sigma 93 / “ ROGER WATERS with ERIC CLAPTON-THE GUNNER’S DREAM ”), It was sold out instantly, and since then it has been sandwiched between 2015 re-pressed boards and has continued to that point until now.

This board certainly uses the masterpiece published by Wolfgang’s Vault at the time as described above, but “ THE GUNNER’S DREAM ” released by Sigma at that time was not a drop of the Wolfgang’s Vault version. . This Wolfgang’s Vault version of the SBD original sound was basically recorded with a sound that was slightly closer to the midrange, although it had excellent sound quality, and some adjustment was necessary. Therefore, at that time, the engineers of this Sigma label gave their own professional-grade mastering to successfully improve the extrusion of vocals and the separation of each instrument, resulting in a tom and snare sound that lacked clarity. A well-balanced, miracle sound image was realized by reviving sharp sharpness. In other words, that masterpiece “THE GUNNER’S DREAM” was a brush-up best sound quality board with a great advantage of Sigma label’s original professional-class mastering, which was further refined from the Wolfgang’s Vault sound source that was released online at that time By the way, although the recorded contents are the same, the quality of sound quality was proud of “finish” much higher in Sigma version. Nonetheless, since I wanted to re-release as a remastered version if I put it out again, I actually tried remastering several times, but I got an unnecessary equalization feeling anyway, I found a room for improvement at all There wasn’t. How was the original board “THE GUNNER’S DREAM” done well, and at that stage, it was the last thing to be reminded of whether it was “finished” with a very perfect sound image. And this time again, it was a reissue with the same title and recorded content as the original, but with a newly designed new jacket and Sigma number 131. However, there is absolutely confidence in the sound quality, and we guarantee unparalleled high quality!

After all, it’s amazing from the opening “Taiyo Hymn”, and if you listen to the first 20 seconds, you must be stunned by its superb sound quality. Roger’s singing voice appears at an extremely close distance in the introduction section where a phrase and female chorus part that is not included in the original song are set, and the saxophone played by Mel Collins is free from blurring and clouding of the image. “It’s out. Clapton’s guitar entering from the middle is filled with surprises that the graceful melody sings one after another from a close distance, and you will be struck by the sound that permeates the six organs. “Money” has a very good blend of Roger’s vivid singing voice and female chorus. The saxophone also gives this song a new breath with a taste reminiscent of the ISLAND era Crimson, and I think that it will be thrilled by the glossiness and extension of the tone. “If” is a famous scene where Clapton’s guitar pierces the chest. The emotional performance by the acoustic guitar that you can listen to in this song is amazing one note at a time, and in the latter half of the guitar solo (* Although only a moderate degree was picked up in other songs) of the audience The microphone is picking up a lot of cheers. This is a must-see scene even if you are not a fan. “Welcome To The Machine” is a song that has the sound effects of SE coming from the left and right, and the stereo SBD character is particularly evident. In the sound image where you can feel a high degree of transparency between sounds, I would like you to enjoy the pleasure of a highly creative performance that sharply provokes the imagination of the listener. “Have A Cigar” has an attractive arrangement that expands the possibilities of the original song, and the song of the hot Roger that comes out from a close range enhances the music, and that is where the sax takes the lead in the middle A bass that moves violently and a guitar that cuts will awaken a brand new thrilling experience. “Wish You Were Here” is a very interesting thing, with a phrase that reminds us of the introduction of Floyd’s song “Paranoid Eyes” in the piano intro (* and in the song) at the beginning. It has become. There is also a Clapton solo that uses a Roland guitar synthesizer in the middle, and the flow of that melody will resonate with your personality. In “In The Flesh”, Roger transformed into the hero of the world crying out “… Silence !!” before the song began, “This is the sound of THE WALL that I conduct!” A tremendous ensemble bursts with a responsive sound. He also pays attention to his bass, and is characterized by tremolo picking scenes that he did not do in the Floyd era. “Nobody Home” is a unique sound world of Roger, and the Clapton guitar flows with a superb tone, which will give you a special impression of being released from something trapped in the sound. On the other hand, in “Hey You” you can see that Mel takes a long lead with a saxophone like a pair with this Clapton guitar scene, but each of the three consecutive THE WALL songs, the main member of the band The fun of the composition that makes each large showcase is unique to this luxurious lineup. In “The Gunner’s Dream”, a wonderful scene in which the witty phrases peculiar to Clapton soar in a short distance one after another appears. When that sensual melody is delivered to the ear with perfect stereo SBD without cloudiness, you will surely see the vision of THE FINAL CUT tour that you never realized.

Disc 2 is the second half of the show, including the full hitchhiking song reproduction. This is also a stereo SBD sound from “4:30 AM”, and the closeness of Roger’s real voice and the vivid tone of SE appear from the beginning. From “4:33 AM” where a full-fledged ensemble develops, the excellent sound output of each instrument stands out, and the characteristic Clapton guitar will be able to follow the movement perfectly. It is also noteworthy that the motorcycle’s running sound and warning sound are clearly displayed on the back screen. The saxophone that enters in the middle of “4:39 AM” is building a fascinating sound while entwining with the glossy female chorus, and this is going to be inherited by the guitar, piano and Roger singing at “4:41 AM” However, since each tone is clear, the sound image has a three-dimensional effect, and you can feel the breadth of expression with a more reliable response. Also, in this song, the melody of a hot guitar coming out from the middle blossoms with a clear sound, and I think that you can enjoy the magical excitement that the song is dramatically colored by Clapton. “4:50 AM” is a mid-course where the imagination is dramatic, and Roger ’s singing is prominent, and the melody singing (* 3 minutes 43 seconds to 4 minutes 46 seconds) is unbelievable. High musical excitement is recorded. Similarly, in “4:56 AM”, the three sounds of Roger’s singing, female chorus, and saxophone are spelled together by the sound of heaven, but the tranquil sound image here is also rich. It is very attractive as if you feel the charm between the lines spacious. In “5:01 AM”, the guitar solo entering the middle stage conveys the movements of Clapton and Renwick with great closeness of sound, and the sound blossoms one after another in the flow toward the final stage, and each instrument gathers gradually and becomes big The appearance of becoming an ensemble comes out with amazing stereo sound. Clapton’s guitar that sings a hot melody with hooks in the final verses “5:06 AM” and “5:11 AM” adds Roger’s singing from beginning to end, giving a high quality listening response
You will tremble as the music awakens from your dreams while leaving it in place. Encore’s “Brain Damage” and “Eclipse” are sounds that are close to the original song, and seductive sounds that perfectly capture SE. You can enjoy the expression as a Roger singing version with a variety of changes and the state that Clapton gives a new breath and color to the song with a reverberation and approach different from that of Gilmore at the important point with a special sound quality. . Because of the high basic potential of stereo SBD, the blended sound of each instrument is at its highest value until the last note where the sound disappears, so the lingering sound and excitement after listening are exceptional. It can be said that it is a solid response and fulfillment itself after listening to the official live board that was not left at that time.

What’s interesting about Clapton’s tour at this time is that he is dedicated to the skills and talent he can play as a lead guitarist without playing any of his songs. And of course, he plays Floyd songs in the first half of the show. Regardless of the scale of Gilmore’s phrase, it attracts the multi-faceted musicality of the song, and the guitar that you make is very interesting and responsive to any scene. It is only. However, on the other hand, Roger’s sensibility as an arranger re-created in such a composition cannot be overlooked. If you listen carefully to each syllable structure that renews the original song, you can see traces of carefully reworking the idea of Roger’s creation at that time, and there is certainly an axis in Clapton. But I’m sure you’ll feel like you’ve been trying to arrange from a total perspective that’s not just Clapton … and this work is so excellent that you want to write such a hard thing at all It is because it is a proud stereo SBD, but it is natural that even if you listen to it comfortably with just a really good high-quality sound board

「Wish You Were Here」は冒頭で入ってくるピアノのイントロ(※及び曲中にも)に、僅かながらフロイドの曲「Paranoid Eyes」の導入部を彷彿させるフレーズが付けられており、大変興味深いものとなっています。

With the release of the newly released version of the main edition CD “THE GUNNER’S DREAM”, we have prepared a video title with the same high documentary quality as the previous edition! The last performance date of the hitchhiking tour with Eric Clapton participating, 1984 7 This is a video shot of a professional shot of Quebec in Canada on March 31. The existence of this video, which was filmed as some kind of record / information material, was known to have flowed out with a fresh time counter, and it has been conveyed to the present as a valuable video that gives a glimpse of the stage at that time. The recording time is about 33 minutes, but it seems that there is no other pro shot of this tour itself, so the documentary is also high, and it was recorded as a documentary with a track following the first half of the show and the second half in the digest The contents are also spectacular. Also, since it was taken with commercial equipment, the sound is naturally line-recorded, which is a nice feature that the sound quality is very good.

First of all, “Money” has been fully recorded from the first half of the show. Clapton and Roger, of course, because it is a video from quite close distance, Mel Collins and the female chorus team on the other side of Roger are also reflected perfectly, what kind of formation on the stage where both actors were gathered It’s a video that tells you how the gorgeous members were doing a gorgeous production. In the scene where the spot hits the saxophone that comes after the end of the lyrics, Mel moved to an unexpected place, the upper stage behind the stage, and the show lead up to Tim Renwick as the first lead of the guitar solo that entered after that You can also confirm that you are in charge. The show composition where Clapton sings the guitar after the 2nd lead up high is just as interesting as the keyboard solo from there. As with Gilmore, the approach from Strato is similar to how to cut and insert sound and how to connect melodies on this day, even if you are listening to Floyd’s live sound sources since 72 It ’s just that the eyes and ears are glued to the difference in expression.

Since the last half of the show, “4:30 AM”, which begins with a 20-minute break, the performance will be based on the screen image provided behind the stage, so it will be replaced with another camera. The second half of the recording started at the end of the 20-minute break time before the start of “4:30 AM”, and it was also interesting to be able to observe the state of the venue on the day with the customer power still on for a while. However. Also, in each performance scene in the second half, it is also a point that you can visually understand the part that was not understood by sound alone like the main CD, and there are many true effects of sound effects that suddenly appear when listening to the disc 2 of the main CD It contains. For example, in “4:33 AM”, something like a running sound of a car enters, but this is the sound of a large motorcycle running away instead of a car, and the warning sound that appears after that is emitted in any situation video It has become a valuable video material that compensates the performance from the video side. Of course, it is also worth mentioning that you are following Clapton’s guitar firmly, for example, in the long guitar solo scene in the middle of “ 4:41 AM ” the camera is chasing the movement and it is very impressive, it is recorded uncut In “4:47 AM”, you can also see the intro part playing a solo using a short slide guitar.

Another interesting thing is the change in the animation pattern by Gerald Scarf, who is also familiar with “THE WALL”. In “THE WALL”, the black humor peculiar to caricatures was too ugly, but here a adorable dog character like Snoopy leads the music. This is clearly understood by “ 4:47 AM ” and “ 4:50 AM ”, which is not a realistic picture but a fairy tale comical picture because it is a dream and self-answer that the hero suffering from neurosis sees It may be. The dog is also a symbol of myself and society that cannot live without someone or something. I think that these visual metaphors are the only point of view that can be noticed when viewed in actual live video, and this will allow us to further improve our understanding of the album “Hitchhiking Pros and Cons”. By the way, the video set installed behind the stage is horizontally long like a movie screen, but three 4: 3 screens like the size of a TV screen are displayed side by side horizontally. Can be seen. Since each screen is synchronized and a seamless horizontal image is displayed, this is probably a three-screen composite projection using a half mirror, but such a large one is also in 1984 It was a rare kite. From this stage set, you can see that it was trying to give the audience even more surprises with the technical innovation that goes beyond the circular screen that Floyd was doing, and it is also this video that many such various visual discoveries can be made It has become a feature of. Please take this opportunity to improve your understanding of the album and the main story CD !!

Roger Waters With Eric Clapton / Lonesome Road New Jersey 1984 2nd Night / 2DVDR/ Non label

Live at Brendan Byrne Arena, East Rutherford, New Jersey, USA 21st July 1984

Staged in Brendan Baan Arena on July 21st, the second day of the New Jersey performance that was held for three consecutive days from 1984 “Pros And Cons Of Hitch-Hiking World Tour” accompanied by Eric Clapton Includes a must-see video for the fans that is completely recorded with a fixed camera video that captures the entire view. In 2008, it recorded a surprising audience shot video that suddenly appeared from the fan-sponsored label “HARVESTED”. The audio is different from the existing “Like Gunmetal Magnets”, which is also super high-quality sound. Because of the distant image, the members’ facial expressions are completely unknown, but you can check the performance (action) of each member firmly, starting with Clapton from the standing position. Animations and photos reflected on the familiar circular screen from the 70s Floyd show, and even the “ Pros And Cons Of Hitch-Hiking ” in the second half of the show, a big screen like a huge movie that fills the back of the stage that is quite large All of the projected images are captured firmly. The whole Pros And Cons … part, which has only been guessed by stage photos, is a must-see for fans. I was also surprised at how much this part was so big and at the same time impressed with the spectacular production. Brain Damage / Eclipse is a must-see part because there is only this tour that shows the images of familiar politicians on the screen set on 3 sides. In the first half, after Welcome To The Machine, Roger protests the audience using fireworks. Because there is no close-up scene, it is not recommended for everyone as a video title, but its record value is unparalleled, and it is no exaggeration to say that serious Floyd & Waters collectors are absolutely must-have This is a unique title.

★ Review summary of beatleg magazine vol.98 (September 2008). For your reference.

DVD containing New Jersey performances from 1984 “Pros And Cons Of Hitch-Hiking World Tour” with Eric Clapton participating. This video was taken from the left side of the stage with a video camera fixed to a tripod, but using Hitachi’s portable deck and Nakamichi’s external stereo microphone, the image quality and sound are very clear. . However, since there is no zoom, the members’ faces cannot be seen, but there is no more sample to grasp the whole picture of the state-of-the-art stage using multimedia.

★ The image quality and sound quality are excellent. This is the definitive video title representing the 1984 tour.

Eric Claptonが参加した1984年の「Pros And Cons Of Hitch-Hiking World Tour」から、New Jersey公演を収録したDVD。
