The Who’s “HITS BACK” tour is closed until autumn, but Roger, who is tireless, does “WHO WAS I” alone. UXBRIDGE will release the best audience that captures the latest stage pattern at the fastest speed.
Half of the backing bands, including Simon Townshend, are the same as when Fu, but half are members of the Teenage Cancer Trust concert, such as Jody Linscott, and Simon there. An epoch-making organization that turns his son Ben into a drummer.
Of course, there is no Pete, so Roger is the MC for the whole story, but unlike Fu, who entrusts him with the MC, Roger speaks well (laughs).
The style of performance is the same unplugged band arrangement as at the TTC concert, which is different from the sound of the stage as Fu in a good way. The set list also follows the TTC concert, but this is Roger’s solo.
Therefore, it seems good to reduce Fu’s repertoire from the time of TTC and add Roger’s solo number instead.
Above all, it is really fresh that “After The Fire”, which was used for car commercials in the 1980s for us Japanese, is played in an unplugged band arrangement. Moreover, I was impressed by the unabated voice that Roger will sing this song even in 2022.
Twice
Furthermore, songs from recent Roger solos such as “I Keep It Myself” from the co-starring album with Wilko Johnson and “As Long As I Have You” which is the title song of Roger’s latest solo album and is familiar in ZEP’s live performance. Is it so different from Fu’s stage a few months ago, even though half of the stage is backed by the same musicians throughout the live performance? I’m just amazed at the sound and the content of the live performance.
Still, the style of playing Fu’s classical music with an unplugged arrangement is also very attractive. What’s more, it’s great that the finale ends with “Young Man Blues,” which isn’t played on the current Fu stage. Anyway, if you want to play Fu’s songs, the aim is to make songs that the group doesn’t cover.
And after all, the sound quality is outstandingly good. Although the sound quality is a little hard, the sound image is close to the sound board level and Roger’s voice is also close. Enjoy Roger’s latest unplugged stage with high-quality audience recordings that wouldn’t be strange to be released on a press CD. This is great performance and sound quality!
