Davi Pattison, Dave Bronze, Pete Thompson … Robin Trower in 2005 returned to the road after reuniting the so-called “PASSION band”. Introducing an original recording that allows you to experience the scene in the best possible way.
It was “April 16, 2005 London performance” that was imbued with such a work. It is the excellent audience recording. The “PASSION band” reunited in 2002, and in 2003, the album “LIVING OUT OF TIME” was released. However, for some reason there was no live activity for a while, and it wasn’t until 2005 that the tour started. The pattern is left in the official work as Robin’s 60th birthday live “LIVING OUT OF TIME: LIVE”, but of course this work is a separate performance. First, let’s check the situation at that time on a schedule.
・ March 7-9: Germany (3 performances) ← * Official LIVING OUT OF TIME: LIVE
・ March 14-April 23: UK # 1 (18 performances) ← ★ Coco ★
・ April 30-June 18: Europe (12 performances)
・ November 7-25: UK # 2 (12 performances)
This is Robin Trower in 2005. “LIVING OUT OF TIME: LIVE” was recorded on Robin’s birthday “March 9th”, but the London performance of this work is the following month. It was the 15th performance of “UK # 1” which started a full-scale tour for the first time in 4 years.
This work recorded at such a show is an exquisite audience that has both a powerful core and a neat sound. It is an original recording only for this work that was handed over by the recorder himself, but that recorder is the legendary master who is familiar with “British master” in our shop. It is also known for achieving both “realistic presence” and “modern clearness”, but this work has even gained an “on-direct feeling”. The three elements are fused in a high dimension.
Particularly wonderful are the glossy guitar and vocals. With a little cutting, the pick angle is so vivid that you can feel it, and with the delicate vibrato, the vibrating strings are so real that you can see them. The vocals also let you hear the delicacy of the breathing level, and you can feel the sweet tone that dominates the venue. It’s not mistaken for a sound board in terms of tone, but it’s amazing because it doesn’t get inferior even if you play it after the official work “LIVING OUT OF TIME: LIVE”. It’s worthy of being called a “British master” … No, it’s a spectacular recording of something special in his collection.
It is absolutely necessary to listen to such a sound alone, but this work also has a long length that exceeds the official work “LIVING OUT OF TIME: LIVE”. Let’s organize them while comparing them here.
● 70’s Classics (5 songs)
・ TWICE REMOVED FROM YESTERDAY: Daydream
・ BRIDGE OF SIGHS: Too Rolling Stoned / Day Of The Eagle / Bridge Of Sighs / Little Bit Of Sympathy
● Since the 90’s (11 songs)
・ 20TH CENTURY BLUES: Rise Up Like The Sun / Secret Place (★)
・ LIVING OUT OF TIME: Sweet Angel / What’s Your Name / Living Out Of Time / Please Tell Me / Another Time, Another Place (★)
・ Others: I Want You To Love Me / Breathless / Close Every Door / Come To Me (★)
* Note: The “★” mark is a song that could not be heard on the official version “LIVING OUT OF TIME: LIVE”.
…… And it looks like this. A set that covers a wide range of solo careers while focusing on the major masterpiece “BRIDGE OF SIGHS” and the latest work “LIVING OUT OF TIME”. The official work “LIVING OUT OF TIME: LIVE” was a short set probably because it was a festival appearance, but this work is a complete recording of the encore “Come to Me” and “Secret Place”. You can enjoy it not only as “LIVING OUT OF TIME: LIVE on-site experience board” but also as a complete version.
Robin’s guitar is extremely delicious, and the encounter with his bandmates of yesteryear is Aun’s breathing feeling. In the blues, it is often said that “40s and 50s are still chicks”, but Robin Trower, who has reached his 60th birthday, was in a state of maturity. A masterpiece of a live album where you can experience such a full show on-site with a more realistic and beautiful sound than the official one. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
★ Excellent audience recording of “April 16, 2005 London performance”. It’s a great recording that has a powerful core and a neat sound when it’s on, and it’s amazing because it’s not inferior even if you continue after the official work “LIVING OUT OF TIME: LIVE”. Moreover, “Come to Me” and “Secret Place” that could not be heard in the official work are also completely recorded. You can experience the full show of the reunion of the PASSION band, Patison, Bronze, and Thompson.
