RIOT’s latest Japan tour, where the first acoustic set is also a hot topic. The original recording of the latest stage will be released.
This week’s masterpiece live album “KAWASAKI 2019 1ST NIGHT (Shades 1105)” will be released at the same time, but this is the second one. This is a masterpiece audience recording of the “October 6, 2019: Club Citta Kawasaki” performance. As many of you may already know, this time we are only in Kawasaki 2 performances, and our favorite is this 2nd day. It was a show that was more voluminous than the first day. Suddenly, let’s organize the contents of the set.

… And it looks like this. The show consisted of two parts, the first part = acoustic set / the second part = electric set. It’s hard to tell how this is different from the first day, so let’s focus on the difference between the two days.

… And it looks like this. I’ve swapped two songs for acoustic / electric, but I’ve also added two more songs. Especially happy is “Narita”, which decorates the opening of the acoustic set. Along with “Warrior”, you can enjoy the unplugged version of the famous song that fascinated the Japanese. The mood is different from the tension of electric, but the masterpiece is still a masterpiece. A wonderful version that highlights that heavenly melody. The arrangement that the snow falls from there to the light “Tokyo Rose” is also the best.
Furthermore, the masterpieces “Outlaw” and “Altar of the King” of “FIRE DOWN UNDER” have also come to the first part, so the color of the entire acoustic set has become richer in the initial color. The unplugged versions of “Bloodstreets” and “Take Me Back” on the first day are also wonderful, so I can’t easily attach them, but I feel that this work is more narrowed down.
The sound that recorded such a show is also excellent. If you record HR / HM, there is no one on the right. It is the original master (the recorder on the first day is another person) only for this work, which was directly handed over from Mr. “West Japan’s strongest taper”, and the base is buzzing The groaning sound is the same as on the first day, but the clear feeling of the mid-high range that does not mix with the foundation is tremendous. Both the drumming sound and the twin guitar entanglement are three-dimensional with each sound being crisp. The vocals are at zero distance, and whispers and high shouts are recorded beautifully. If the sound of the bass was clear with this, it would have been a sound board-class transcendental recording … That said, the bass is more than enough to serve as a foundation, and it’s clear on the acoustic set. It seems that it is physically impossible to record the bass more clearly, considering the clarity that you can not feel the hall sound at all even if you listen with headphones like Mr. “strongest”.
The number of songs increased dramatically, and the second day when the unplugged version of the famous song “Narita” jumped out. It is a masterpiece of a live album that captures the full show with a wonderful (and honest to the scene) sound. The first day of listening to the acoustic versions of “Bloodstreets” and “Take Me Back” is hard to throw away, but in total this is the masterpiece. One of the representatives of the 2019 performance in Japan that showed a new charm. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.

今週の傑作ライヴアルバム『KAWASAKI 2019 1ST NIGHT（Shades 1105）』も同時リリースとなりますが、本作は第二弾。「2019年10月６日：クラブチッタ川崎」公演の傑作オーディエンス録音です。すでにご存じの方も多いと思いますが、今回の来日は川崎２公演のみであり、その本命はこの２日目。初日よりもボリュームアップしたショウとなったのです。いきなりですが、そのセット内容を整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。ショウは２部構成で、第一部＝アコースティック・セット／第二部＝エレクトリック・セットとなっていました。これだけだと初日とどう違うのか分かりづらいので、２日間の差異にクローズアップしてみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。アコースティック／エレクトリックで２曲を入れ替えているわけですが、さらに２曲も増量しています。特に嬉しいのは、アコースティック・セットのオープニングを飾る「Narita」。「Warrior」と並んで日本人を魅了した名曲のアンプラグド・バージョンを楽しめるのです。エレクトリックの緊張感とはまた違ったムードではありますが、やはり名曲は名曲。あの天翔るメロディが浮き彫りになる素晴らしいバージョン。そこから軽快な「Tokyo Rose」へ雪崩れ込むアレンジも最高です。
さらに『FIRE DOWN UNDER』の名曲「Outlaw」「Altar of the King」も第一部に回ってきた事で、アコースティック・セット全体のカラーもグッと初期色が濃厚になっている。初日のアンプラグド版「Bloodstreets」「Take Me Back」も素晴らしいので軽々に甲乙は付けられませんが、本作の方がより絞り込まれた流れのようにも感じます。
そんなショウを記録したサウンドも絶品。HR/HMを録らせたら右に出る者はいない“西日本最強テーパー”氏から直接譲られた本作だけのオリジナル・マスター（初日の録音家は別人）で、ラインが判然としないベースがブンブンと唸る出音は初日と同様なものの、その土台と混じり合わない中高音のクッキリ感が絶大。ドラムの打音もツイン・ギターの絡みも１音１音がキリッとしていて立体的。ヴォーカルに至ってはゼロ距離で、囁きもハイシャウトもえらくキレイに録られている。これでベースの出音さえクッキリとしていたら、サウンドボード級の超絶録音であったろうに……。とは言え、そのベースにしても土台の役目は十二分に果たしており、アコースティック・セットではクッキリとしている。“最強”氏らしくヘッドフォンで耳を澄ませてもホール鳴りがまったく感じられないクリアさからすると、ベースをこれ以上鮮明に録るのは物理的に不可能なようです。
曲数もグッと増え、名曲「Narita」のアンプラグド版まで飛び出した２日目。そのフルショウを素晴らしい（そしてあくまでも現場に正直な）サウンドで捉えきったライヴアルバムの大傑作です。アコースティック版「Bloodstreets」「Take Me Back」が聴ける初日も捨てがたいところではありますが、トータルでは本作こそが最高傑作となるでしょう。新たな魅力を見せつけた2019年の来日公演を代表する１本。どうぞ、思う存分お楽しみください。
