Randy Rhoads-related collector’s items, centered on live performances at OZZY OSBOURNE, are currently being excavated in a considerable number of sound sources. However, since the activity period has been short since it was widely known to rock fans, not to mention the items from the QUIET RIOT era, there are not many video materials at OZZY OSBOURNE. This work “SIX STRING GOD” is an item that covers Randy’s career in one with valuable professional shot images.
Since the time when this work first appeared as a gift title in the past, its advanced content has become a hot topic. The deep love and overflowing respect for Randy of the overseas enthusiast who worked on this work. The high quality of the selected images and the carefully crafted composition from the opening will make you groan even if you review it now. The same kind of gift item “LIVE FOOTAGE 1979-1981” has a longer recording time than this work, but with the thoughts put into the work and the ease of 63 minutes in the whole story, this work is still “Mania is Randy” As an item dedicated to, it has not lost its significance and value.

“LIVE FOOTAGE 1979-1981” started from the QUIET RIOT era, but on the contrary, this work started from “AFTER HOURS” (played in Rochester, New York on April 28, 1981) after joining OZZY OSBOURNE. Needless to say, the image quality is of the highest quality, and Randy’s youthful and wild guitar play and Ozzy’s performance, which he turned to solo, are spectacular. You can thoroughly enjoy their representative songs “I Don’t Know”, “Suicide Solution” and “Mr. Crowley”, “Crazy Train” respectively.
Next, from the 1981 MTV Special, a TV image containing an interview when Randy won the “Best New Talent Award”, and a valuable live image at the New York “Paradium” on May 2, 1981 are recorded. All of them are valuable materials, and if you are a fan of Randy, you will definitely want to see them.

The latter half of this work includes footage from the QUIET RIOT era. First of all, on October 25, 1979, Randy’s early guitar solo time was recorded with a multi-camera pro shot video from the live at “Starwood” in Hollywood. Here’s a prototype of “Dee,” which gives you a glimpse into some of his hidden talents. The last is the video on the stage at “Starwood” on December 28, 1978. You can enjoy the band’s representative songs “Slick Black Cadillac” and “One In A Million”.

ランディ・ローズ関連のコレクターズ・アイテムは、OZZY OSBOURNEでのライヴを中心として、現在ではかなりの数の音源が発掘されています。しかしロック・ファンに広く名を知られてからの活動期間が短かかった事もあり、QUIET RIOT時代のアイテムは言うにおよばず、OZZY OSBOURNEでの映像素材も、決して多いとはいえません。本作「SIX STRING GOD」は、そのランディのキャリアを、貴重なプロショット映像でひとつに網羅したアイテムです。
本作は過去にギフト・タイトルとして初登場した当時から、その高度な内容が話題となりました。本作を手がけた海外マニアの、ランディに向けられた深い愛情と溢れんばかりのリスペクト。選ばれた映像の質の高さ、オープニングから入念に作りこまれた構成など、今見直しても唸らされます。同種のギフト・アイテム「LIVE FOOTAGE 1979-1981」は本作以上に収録時間が長いのですが、作品に込められた思いや、全編で63分という手軽さでは、本作はなお「マニアがランディに捧げるアイテム」として、その意義や価値を失ってはいません。

「LIVE FOOTAGE 1979-1981」ではQUIET RIOT時代から始まりましたが、本作では反対にOZZY OSBOURNE加入後の”AFTER HOURS”(1981年4月28日,ニューヨーク・ロチェスターでの演奏)からスタート。画質は言うまでも無く最上級で、ランディの若々しくワイルドなギタープレイ、ソロに転向して一念発起したオジーのパフォーマンスは見応え満点。彼らの代表曲である「I Don’t Know」・「Suicide Solution」そして「Mr. Crowley」・「Crazy Train」を、それぞれじっくり堪能できます。
続いては1981年のMTVスペシャルより、ランディが”Best New Talent Award”を受賞した際のインタビューを収めたテレビ映像、そして1981年5月2日のニューヨーク”パラディアム”における貴重なライヴ映像を収録。いずれも貴重な素材で、ランディのファンなら絶対に見ておきたいでしょう。

本作の後半にはQUIET RIOT時代の映像を収録。まず最初は1979年10月25日、ハリウッドの”スターウッド”におけるライヴより、ランディの初期ギター・ソロ・タイムを、マルチカメラのプロショット映像で収録。ここでは「Dee」のプロトタイプを取り上げており、彼の秘めた才能の一端を垣間見る事ができます。最後は’78年12月28日の、同じく”スターウッド”でのステージにおける映像。バンドの代表曲「Slick Black Cadillac」と「One In A Million」を楽しめます。

収められた映像の全てが、当時使用し得る中でも特に上質な素材。ランディの映像コンピレーションとして、本作の存在感は大きなものがあります。この飛び切りの映像集ですを、全てのランディ・ファン必見の一本を、この機会にどうぞお楽しみください!
