From the “DOWN TO EARTH” Japan tour which RAINBOW realized only once in May 1980, RAINBOW when Graham Bonnet was enrolled, all three consecutive performances at Tokyo · Nippon Budokan used the audience master of Miracle Man recording I decided to release it with a volume full scale press CD 6 set! A big package of Tokyo performance lined with the masterpiece “HIDDEN FORTRESS” (Langley) packaging Osaka 3Days of the same year is born here!

Among Japan tours that RAINBOW went from 6 to 84 in total, the ’80’s tour to Japan accompanying’ DOWN TO EARTH ‘is’ the only tour of Graham era ‘·’ at the end of Cozy Powell “From the various meanings, I left a strong impact on my fans.
Tours of this time, when three performances in Tokyo and Osaka each from May 8th to 15th were held, this time the tour also helped progress and spread of the recording equipment and was superior in sound quality to the Ronie era The recording is left for all the lives. Especially the Nippon Budokan performance in Tokyo is a fulfilling swing that can be said as “fierce battlefield”. Even if you see only the sounds appearing from the Darker Than Blue label, you can see “FACING GRAHAM” on the first day (8th), “GONE WILD” on the second day (9th), and the last day of Tokyo (12th) “GIGANTIC EXPLOSIN” · “INNOCENT VICTIMS COMPLETE” such as just having a name is not enough (Koji ‘s “SPECIAL DRUM SEMINAR” that surprised the fans is also a recording on this tour).
Although the sound source which can be said to be the definitive version is known for each date like this, it is “Set-package of three days of Tokyo performance” which was not likely to exist so far. Even at the same Budokan, there are items, “TRIUMPH & TRAGEDY” (Rising Arrow) in ’78 years of the Ronie era, and ‘3 NIGHTS AT BUDOKAN’ (Shades) in ’81 in the Joe era. Even in the Graham era Osaka performance is “HIDDEN FORTRESS” as 6 pairs exist, as for items that completed the Tokyo performance, it should be rather strange that it was not released until now.
This time realized the long-awaited items with a six-sheet press CD using the first appearance audience master with Miracle Man recording for every three days! Both of the 3 performances are recorded from the back of the venue, but with this unique Tokyo festival again with a masterpiece with a sound image different from the classic sound source named above, a prospect not comparable with the previous episode and an outstanding master freshness Even with plenty of volume) let’s enjoy it!

In Disks 1 and 2, the live on May 8th that is the first day is recorded. From the opening “Eyes Of The World”, the excitement of the venue is just like pushing up the listener, especially the arena seats are wrapped in explosive enthusiasm. Miracle Man on this day recorded the appearance of the live from “1st floor northwest stand · B row 9th”. Although the performance seems to be diffusing throughout, Graham’s vocal still reaches the listener with its outline contour, which is also reminiscent of the fans of the day “Graham’s vocals were big and intense”).
It is thought that it was the first time for Japan as a whole after a large member change, and it seems that it was a furious performance as a whole band, but it seems that Graham’s clattering is very conspicuous. Singing at “Love’s No Friend” and “Lost In Hollywood”, multiplication at “All Night Long”, I guess suddenly passed the fans’ fever from the first day. In the last “Kill The King” exploded guitar crash, audience reactions can be felt realistically.
In the direct feeling of sound, I will give one step to “FACING GRAHAM”, but the documentivity which objectively grasped the fact that the Budokan enthusiasm for the Budokan in the premiere of the trip, “I heard it like this” in the position of the taper is very interesting It can be said.
In case
It was on the second day May 9th that was stored on disks 3 and 4. On this day, with a recording from “Arena I Row 46”, you can enjoy the lively enthusiasm more closely than the day before and the performance can be enjoyed more clearly.
On the 9th, it was also the day when particularly good recordings were focused on Tokyo 3Days, and various live sausages entertained the fans. This trend is true also in this work, the ease of listening to performance is the most important. With a well-balanced sound image from the opening “Eyes Of The World” and “Love’s No Friend”, the spread of the sound will also make the Budokan live-like presence realistic. Compared to the day before the overall felt impression, the band’s play has increased listening comprehension, and Ritchie’s guitar also makes wonderful play everywhere. Goodness of songs with Graham’s character, Ritchie’s guitar interlocked with “Catch The Rainbow” is a delicious word. Recording with excellent prospects makes you listen to songs and play more impressively.
In the live highlight “Lost In Hollywood”, Cozy’s drum solos are recorded with a dynamic sound image. The fun of the multiplication that Graham and audiences will unfold at Angkor’s “All Night Long” will be more enjoyable if this recording is excellent in spread of sound. The guitar crash in the last “Kill The King” makes us feel awesome enthusiasm and excitement as well as the day before (as well as the place where tuning of the guitar and unison with the keyboard become serious has become serious as well as before You can hear it).

Last discs 5 and 6 can enjoy the last day of Tokyo on May 12. In this recording, the entire appearance of the live is recorded from “Arena S column 73”. The sound image that feels the spread of space is abundant in the spectacle that RAINBOW live at that time, and the countdown just before “Over The Rainbow” suddenly has power. Graham is doing great from the opening as well because of two days off. Ritchie and Koji also played out excellent play, and enjoy the wonderful performance suitable for the last day of Tokyo from ‘Eyes Of The World’.
“Since You Been Gone” from “Brandenburg Concerto” brilliantly clear tone of Richie, listen to a place where good narrative “Man On The Silver Mountain”. From the more dynamic “Lost In Hollywood” to the richie’s “Beethoven 9th”, the scene flowing to Cozy’s deep force drum solos will attract the listener.
It is characterized by long encore on this day. Performance of “All Night Long” (about 12 minutes including the introduction “Lazy”) which exceeds 9 minutes, “Blues” which was only performed on this day in Tokyo in the 80’s and “Will You Still Love Me Tommorow ? “Can be said to be the largest listening place even in this work. Graham and Ritchie performances of each song are also wonderful. This day also bursted guitar crash, listening to the last in “Long Live Rock ‘N’ Roll” is a perfect score!

Although there are items that can be said to be decisive in the previous episode in three live performances, the recording contained in this work is also the clearness and presence feeling truly Miracle Man master! In the sense that we will pursue documents through three days as one of the audiences, we assert that this work is worth more than the previous episode.
Together with the three performance set ‘Ohsaka’ performance ‘HIDDEN FORTRESS’, six performances of the ’80 tour of Japan Tour will be completed here as one history! Please do not miss it for all 6 RAYBOW fans’ perfectly limited press CD 6 sets to be collected at hand!

「Love’s No Friend」や「Lost In Hollywood」での熱唱、「All Night Long」での掛け合いは、初日からいきなりファンの度胆を抜いた事でしょう。

リッチーのクリアなトーンが見事な「ブランデンブルク協奏曲」からの「Since You Been Gone」、ノリの良い「Man On The Silver Mountain」は聴き所。
9分を越える「All Night Long」(導入の「Lazy」を含めれば約12分)の熱演、’80年の東京ではこの日のみの演奏となった「Blues」そして「Will You Still Love Me Tommorow?」
