Kevin DuBrow, who was also the founder of QUIET RIOT along with Randy Rhoad. Introducing a treasured original sound source that conveys the scene of “QR III JAPAN TOUR” in 1986, which was his last visit to Japan.
This work was recorded on “November 27, 1986: Ryogoku Kokugikan”. It is a masterpiece audience recording that vacuum packed the site. QUIET RIOT came to Japan in 1987 and 1989, and the singer at that time was Paul Shortino, a former RUGH CUTT. After that, Kevin stood at the front again in the reunion QUIET RIOT after the 90’s, but he never came to Japan and became a person who never returned in 2007. As a result, this 1986 was Kevin’s last performance in Japan. First, let’s look back on the schedule and confirm the position of the show.
・ November 25: Aichi Welfare Pension Hall
・ November 27: Ryogoku Kokugikan ← ★ This work ★
・ November 29: Osaka Welfare Pension Hall
・ December 1: Fukuoka Sun Palace
Above, all 4 performances. In Tokyo, the first visit to Japan the previous year, four consecutive performances at Nakano Sunplaza became a hot topic, but the second performance was only one. Instead, it was set in the Ryogoku Kokugikan, which is rarely used for (?) Concerts.
This work recorded at the precious show has a wonderful realistic sound. Although it is undeniable that there is a little distance, the atmosphere is refreshing and the thick core reaches straight. There is a lot of cheers between the songs, but it calms down quickly during the performance, and there is no obstacle between the songs and the performance sound. Therefore, the subtleties of each instrument are transmitted firmly, and vocals and thick choruses are not mixed. And above all, master freshness. It is an original master only for this work, which was handed over from the recording person, and there are no dubbing marks or deterioration over time. It’s a fresh live album where you can immerse yourself in the freshness of the atmosphere 34 years ago as it blows out of the speakers.
The sound is drawn with a full show that concentrates the trilogy “METAL HEALTH”, “CONDITION CRITICAL”, and “QR III” and summarizes the golden 80’s. Let’s organize the contents here.
● METAL HEALTH (5 songs): Slick Black Cadillac / Don’t Wanna Let You Go / Let’s Get Crazy / Cum On Feel The Noize / Metal Health (Bang Your Head)
● CONDITION CRITICAL (2 songs): Sign Of The Times / Mama Weer All Crazee Now
● QR III (5 songs): Put Up Or Shut Up / The Pump / Main Attraction / Still Of The Night / The Wild And The Young
● Others (1 song): Slow Down (THE BEATLES cover)
… And it looks like this. The masterpiece “METAL HEALTH” is the main work, and the masterpieces of the trilogy are concentrated and reduced, but the delicious one is the “QR III” number. “Put Up Or Shut Up” and “The Wild And The Young” were also performed on “JAPAN AID 2ND” in 1987, but the other three songs are valuable … Unless it’s a live performance, it’s a little-known number.
And the performance of spelling such a set is hot. After all it is Kevin who has a great presence. The wild Dami voice is extremely dynamic, hotly rocking pop and catchy songs, and pulling the audience with a dynamic MC. To be honest, I think the successor, Shortino, has better singing ability, but Kevin is definitely better as a showman. David Lee Roth is also a powerful force to evoke a big chorus with a call with a gorgeous nori. Of course, it doesn’t mean that he is not good at singing, but the majestic melancholy that erupts in the power ballad “Still Of The Night” can only be given to Kevin.
Of course, Carlos Cavazo’s guitar crying to Bluesy and the powerful Frankie Banali beat are tough. QUIET RIOT is by no means Kevin’s one-man band, but it was only in his showmanship that they climbed to the darlings of his time … you can experience a hot show that makes you think so. is.
As a matter of fact, the performance in Japan is also the final stage of “QR III TOUR”, and after leaving Japan, the performance in Alaska and Hawaii will end. Kevin was fired due to poor behavior, and QUIET RIOT also stalled. It is a valuable live album where you can experience the performance in Japan that was realized just before the collapse with real sound. Genuine LA metal that led the era. The last appearance of the golden age. Please enjoy this work to your heart’s content.
