【前半：名門キニーのオリジナル・マスター】
まず登場するのが、衝撃のキニー録音。テレビやラジオ放送があったために今日まで未発表だった秘宝中の秘宝。そのオリジナル・カセットからダイレクトにCD化しました。
そのサウンドは、まさしくキニー・マジックの粋。もちろん、現場の息吹もリアルなオーディエンス録音ですが、その空気感が透き通っており、演奏も歌声も真っ直ぐ手元に飛び込んでくる。そして、オリジナル・マスターならではの鮮度が圧倒的。恐らくは録音してから33年間、ほとんど再生されたことがないのでしょう。ダビング劣化も経年劣化もほとんど見られず、歪みもフラつきもない。広大な大歓声まで端正なサウンドが終始微動だにしないのです。

そして、その熱狂こそが素晴らしい。４人の登場から声援が飛びますが、フレディが「Bohemian Rhapsody」のイントロをつま弾くや一気にウェンブリー鍋が一気に沸騰。きめ細かくも広大な大合唱が吹き出す。そのぶ厚さと美しさ。映画やテレビ中継でも感動のシーンでしたが、現場に立つ感覚はまるで別次元。肌の粟立ちが止まらず、まさに総毛立つ瞬間です。
その熱い臨場感が潰えない。続く「Radio Ga Ga」も盛大な盛り上がりが素晴らしく、当時はまだ新しめのナンバーだったはずなのに７万2000人の唱和が止まらない。そして、あの巨大な「Day-O」の交歓。つい先ほどまでランダムに沸きまくっていた歓声がフレディに付き従うのですが、驚異的なのはその整然とした統制。まるで誰も私語を口にしていないかのようにフレディの声が通り、一糸乱れぬ唱和で返してみせる。いつもの光景のようではありますが、ここに集っているのは７万2000人。返す声のぶ厚さにスケール感が分かるものの、そのシンクロ率はホールクラスかと思うほどです。そして、始まるのが「Hammer To Fall」。その中盤では、突如として笑いとも喝采とも付かぬうねりが沸き上がる。実は、この時フレディはテレビ放送のカメラに絡んで遊んでいる。中継で顔が大写しになって乱れるシーンをご記憶の方もいらっしゃるでしょうが、あの瞬間にはウェンブリー鍋も沸騰していた。テレビでもラジオでもうかがい知ることのできなかったLIVE AIDの真実が端正サウンドでつまびらかになっていくのです。
煮立った鍋は「Crazy Little Thing Called Love」でも演奏をかき消さんばかりの手拍子で満ち、「We Will Rock You」で遂に頂点を迎える。あのイントロに沸騰は爆発に取って代わり、鍋の中の全員がリズムを刻む。しかし、７万2000人のビートが遂にバンドの演奏を超えてしまい、手拍子がズレまくりの狂いまくり。それほどまでに観客のエネルギーは巨大で、あれだけシンプルなリズムが狂うほどに夢中。そして、そんな混沌がフレディの歌い出しで一瞬にしてビシッと揃う。これこそ、どれほどの群衆でも縦横無尽に操ってみせたフレディ・マーキュリーの凄味。いかに盛大であっても、ここは単なる大騒ぎの場でもなければ、暴動でもない。QUEENに掻き立てられ、フレディに付き従うコンサートの現場なんだと思い知らされる瞬間です。
その頂点の熱狂が間髪入れず「We Are The Champions」へと突き進む。このテイクが絶品すぎる。熱く厚い大合唱が一糸乱れぬ整合感で渦巻き、そのド真ん中をフレディの熱唱が貫く。その声の伸びと通り、そしてヴィヴラートの力強さ。圧倒的にもほどがある。通常コンサートではフルセットを歌いきった後ですが、この日ばかりは開演から20分足らずでのハイライト。それが奏功しているのか、これほど見事な「We Are The Champions」はちょっと覚えがない。空間を突き抜ける歌声の感動、巨大な唱和とのシンクロの美。これまたテレビやラジオ放送を超えている。頭から最後までミラクルの連続ではありますが、この３分52秒は、奇跡の中の奇跡です。
これまで飽きるほど見続け、映画でも確かめた伝説の21分12秒。その現場は、ここまで素晴らしかった。これこそが現実の奇跡。その現場。２度とは戻らぬ刹那を肌感覚で教えてくれる奇跡の新発掘マスターです。

【後半：最高峰ステレオ・サウンドボード】
続く後半は、マニアから「ベスト」と太鼓判を押されているフル・サウンドボード録音。映画のサントラ盤は使用されなかった「Crazy Little Thing Called Love」「We Will Rock You」が未収録でしたが、こちらはショウの完全版に加え、当日夜（21:48）にフレディとブライアンだけで再登場して演奏した「Is This The World We Created?」も最高峰サウンドで楽しめます。
もちろん、このショウは公式にDVD化もされているわけですが、マニアから「ベスト」とされているのは当時のFM放送の方。別に公式DVDのサウンド・クオリティに問題があるわけではないのですが、大歓声をステレオ感たっぷりに被せた代わり？に演奏の定位が中央に寄っており、ほとんどモノラルに近いほど固まっていました。それに対し、FMサウンドボードは生中継だけに観客の唱和は薄く（それでも入るほど盛り上がっているわけですが）、演奏と歌声自体が超ビビッド。「Radio Ga Ga」イントロのシンセ音が右から流れ、ジョン・ディーコンのコーラスがちゃんと左から歌いかけてくる。前半のキニー録音は現場感が主役だったわけですが、このサウンドボードはQUEEN自身とシンクロできるライヴアルバムなのです。
また、夜の部の「Is This The World We Created?」も聞き物。２人だけで切々と演奏するのですが、イントロからハウリングが頻発し、ミックスが不安定。途中でスタッフの会話まで紛れ込んでしまうのです。現代では考えられないような放送事故ですが、これも80年代の限界を超えた前代未聞の一大プロジェクトだからこそ。その時代感がリアルでありつつ、昼のメイン・ステージがいかに奇跡的だったかも実感できる１曲なのです。

33年の時間を超えても世界を魅了し続けている“LIVE AIDのQUEEN”。その現場を実体験できる新発掘オーディエンス録音と、史上最高峰の密着ステレオ・サウンドボード。２つの頂点記録を封じ込めたヒストリカルなライヴアルバムです。
映画の再現シーンも素晴らしいエンターテインメントでしたが、これこそ奇跡の本物。どうぞ、永久保存プレスCDでいつでも、いつまでもお楽しみください。

The main press CD is a live album by the finest excavation kiny master of the world and the highest peak soundboard that mania can also recognize. Although I mentioned in the commentary of this volume, although the official DVD feels the cheer spectacle, the performance itself was small with a flat plate. 【マニア制作の最高峰版プロショット（イントロ付き）】
まず登場するのは、海外マニアが制作した最高峰版。ご存じの通り、このステージは公式DVDとなっており、QUEENの出演パートはすべて収録されています。当然、その公式品こそが最高峰とされてきましたが、本作はそれをも凌駕するもの。映像自体は公式DVDと変わらないのですが、アップグレードしているのは音声。本編プレスCDにも使用されたFMラジオで放送された極上ステレオ・サウンドボードがシンクロされているのです。
その出来映えは、目や耳から鱗がポロポロと落ちる素晴らしさ。本編の解説でも触れましたが、公式DVDは歓声のスペクタクルは感じられるものの、演奏自体は平板でこぢんまりとしていました。しかし、本作ではFM放送の鮮やかなまでのステレオ感で奇跡のパフォーマンスを味わえるのです。さらに素晴らしいのは立体感。ステレオだからこそブライアン・メイのカッティングもシンセとぶつかる事なく綺麗に分離して聞こえ、観客とのかけ合いでもフレディの声に一層ド密着なのです。もちろん、夕方（18:41）からの本編ステージだけでなく、夜（21:48）にフレディとブライアンだけで再登場して演奏した「Is This The World We Created?」も収録しています。
このシンクロ・バージョンは、以前ギフトDVDRとしてもご紹介したことがありますが、本作はさらに長い最長バージョン。QUEENを紹介するシーンも収録しているのです。そこでは警官に扮した英国のコメディアン：故メル・スミス＆グリフ・リース・ジョーンズが登場。７万2000人を大いに沸かせる。凄まじい大歓声にたじろぎながらもユーモラスにQUEENをコールし、フレディが軽快に走り込んでくる“あのシーン”に繋がるのです。このトーク・シーンは全長版は公式DVDにも収録されず、本編プレスCDでも聴けない（オーディエンス録音でも一声だけ）。最高峰クオリティだけでなく、ショウのムードをさらに高めてくれる貴重なシーンなのです。

続いて登場するのは、生放送版プロショット。それも日本放送バージョンの最高峰マスターです。当時の録画マニアが秘蔵していたマスターで、テープヨレや伸びが一切なく、そこから流れ出る映像にはアナログビデオでは宿命とさえ言える画面端の歪みさえない。33年前のエアチェックであるにも関わらず、白線ノイズ１本さえない見事な映像美が止めどもなく溢れる。この録画マニアは繰り返し観るために一度だけダビングし、オリジナルを後生大事に保存し続けた。そんなコアマニアの愛情が残し得た１本なのです。
その最高峰で甦るのは深夜に睡魔と戦いながら観た、あの光景。「QUEENの出番はまだか」と待ちつつ、実際にCMが開けてみると「Bohemian Rhapsody」の途中からだった。あの「来た！」感と一抹のガッカリ感。現代のパソコン・フォントとはまるで違う、味のある書体のカタカナ・テロップ。その書体が告げるのは、バンドの略歴や「募金受付番号は03-359-1000　扱い銀行は、富士銀行、三菱銀行、住友銀行、第一勧業銀行です」の一文なのです。９桁の電話番号も懐かしければ、今や１つも残っていない銀行名の数々……それらがさも当たり前の顔をして流れていく。まさに、31年前の“あの夜”、“あの時間”が、当時そのままに蘇るのです。
そして、「We Will Rock You」で会場中が……いえ、全世界が生放送で一体となる中、突如としてCMで切られてしまう。夢のように素晴らしいパフォーマンスがフッと消えた、あの瞬間。「あれぇ!?」の驚きと、QUEENと同じ時を生放送で目撃した興奮と、「早くCM終われ！」がない交ぜになった、あの時の気持ち。とっくの昔に忘れ去っていたハズの感情が、いまだこの胸に残っていた事にさえ驚かされる映像なのです。

【リハーサルの最長プロショット】
最後は、映画『ボヘミアン・ラプソディ』でも描かれたLIVE AIDのリハーサル。映画とは違ってHIVの感染を告白したりはしません（これは映画独自の改変演出）が、奇跡を起こす直前リハに同席できます。短パンのブライアンも有名なプロショットで、本作は約11分半に及ぶ最長版。マスター鮮度も絶品でダビング痕もほとんどなく、公式映像の本編の後に続けて観ても違和感のない極上映像です。
その熱演ぶりが凄い。リハの段階でどこまで復活の手応えを感じていたかは分かりませんが、フレディは実に力の入った歌いっぷりで、ブライアンも（本番ではミスってしまった）「Bohemian Rhapsody」のギターソロもビシッと決める。さらに凄いのは、「Radio Ga Ga」や「Hammer To Fall」のアクション。まるで大群衆が見えているかのように力強く、それこそ本番さながら。結果としてLIVE AIDは奇跡のステージとなったわけですが、それも偶然ではなかった。彼らの気迫こそが呼び寄せた大逆転劇。その舞台裏を目撃できるプロショットなのです。

作り物の再現映画でも感動的でしたが、本作に詰まっているのは本物のQUEEN。そして、フレディ・マーキュリー本人です。その光景を最高峰バージョンで集成した１枚。奇跡の新発掘となった本編プレスCDと共に、本物の奇跡を今一度目撃してください。
