“THE RHAPSODY TOUR” is unfolding in an unprecedented mood. A live album that lets you witness the hot scenes with superb sound.
Included in this work is “Mansfield Performance on August 4, 2019”. It is an audience recording that records the whole picture. “THE RHAPSODY TOUR” is a world tour that the whole world has been waiting for since the release of the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody”. The entire tour will be handed over to the explanation of “WASHINGTON 2019 (Uxbridge 1095)”, which will be released at the same time.

This is the ongoing North American tour. All 25 performances are scheduled, and the Mansfield performance of this work was the concert corresponding to the 14th performance. The biggest point of this work is the finest sound. What’s amazing is the powerful core. Anyway, it ’s on and there ’s no sense of distance. It is the most sound board-like recording of the three titles released this week, and there is almost no hall sound. The sound was realized by the sound of the recording artist, but the venue was probably one of the factors. The “Xfinity Center” that became the site is an open space that opens wide behind. “Section 8” of the recording position has a ceiling, but there are no walls beside or behind it, and the sound does not bounce. It directly picks up the sound emitted from the PA.
This work is definitely an audience recording while it sounds like a line. The proof is that the mood is hot! This is already hot. To be honest, at the beginning I picked up some of the upcoming screams, but it was like the 80s! Encouragement and chorus are very thick. Moreover, it is amazing because its thickness is clear. As I mentioned earlier, there is no response at this venue. You can see that each chorus is clear and each person sings the lyrics. It becomes a fiber and spins the yarn, and the yarn bundles into a rope. Despite that fat chorus, Adam’s singing voice drags the rope by force without losing anything.
Although I missed it because of too much choral spectacle, the guitar, bass, drums and other performers are super-thick and sound board-like. The performance sound, Adam’s singing voice and chorus are the best like the official work, and the great chorus is super-clear. This spectacle is … like a movie theater with a screaming movie. With that sound, you can fully enjoy QUEEN’s famous songs, but the complete version is “Bohemian Rhapsody”. This is … amazing. Too great. It begins with the a cappella part in front of the ballad part, but the tape is also very thick and sings and sings chorus teams! Sing !! Super choral chorus that doesn’t blur to the voice of each person, the chorus work of the studio recording swells several hundred times and penetrates the whole story. I don’t remember this super spectacle “Bohemian Rhapsody”. I don’t know if the full version was aimed at this effect, but it doesn’t stop tingling with the skin standing up.

Actually, there is less “Bicycle Race” than the other 2 works released this week. However, the superb sound and enthusiasm of this work make up for it. Direct sound because it has zero reverberation, and a huge singing that can only be achieved in 2019 after a movie. So far, QUEEN + Adam has had great shows, but this tour has different dimensions. The success of the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody” is the current popularity of QUEEN, so far, it ’s a great masterpiece of a live album that witnesses its reality with a superb sound. The narrative album that will testify to later generations that “2019 was a heyday.” Please chew “the prime now” with your heart.

かつてない大成功ムードの中で繰り広げられている“THE RHAPSODY TOUR”。その熱い現場に極上サウンドで立ち会えるライヴアルバムが登場です。
そんな本作に収められているのは「2019年８月４日マンスフィールド公演」。その全貌を記録したオーディエンス録音です。“THE RHAPSODY TOUR”は映画『ボヘミアン・ラプソディ』の公開以降、全世界が待ちに待ったワールド・ツアーなわけですが、今週はその第一報リリースの３連弾。ツアー全体像は同時リリースとなる『WASHINGTON 2019（Uxbridge 1095）』の解説に譲るとして、ここでは現在進行中の「北米レッグ」に絞って各タイトルの位置関係を整理してみましょう。

これが現在進行形の北米ツアー。全25公演が予定されており、本作のマンスフィールド公演はその14公演目にあたるコンサートでした。そんな本作最大のポイントは、極上のサウンド。何と言っても素晴らしいのは力強い芯。とにかくオンで距離感もなく、すぐ目の前にグイグイと迫ってくる。今週同時リリースの３タイトルの中でも最もサウンドボードっぽい録音であり、ホール鳴りもほとんど感じないのです。そのサウンドを実現したのは何よりも録音家の腕によるものでしょうが、恐らく会場も要因のひとつでしょう。現場となった“Xfinityセンター”は、後方に広く開いたオープン・スペース。録音ポジションの“セクション８”には天井こそあるものの、脇や後ろに壁がなく、音が跳ね返ってこない。ＰＡから吐き出される出音をダイレクトに拾っているのです。
それほどラインっぽいサウンドでありつつ、本作は間違いなくオーディエンス録音。その証は何と言っても熱い現場のムード！　これがもう、とんでもなく熱い。正直言って冒頭では間近な絶叫もいくつか拾ってしまうほどなのですが、それさえまるで80年代！　声援も合唱もえらくぶ厚い。しかも、その厚みがクリアだから凄い。先ほども述べたように、この会場には反響がない。合唱の一声一声がクッキリとしていて１人ひとりが歌詞をしっかりと歌っているのが分かる。それが繊維の一筋となって糸を紡ぎ、その糸が束になって縄になる。それだけ太っとい合唱にも関わらず、アダムの歌声は一切負けることなく縄を力ずくで引きずり回してしまうのです。
あまりの合唱スペクタクルのために書き漏らしましたが、ギターやベース、ドラムといった演奏陣もヴォーカルに負けずサウンドボードばりの超・極太。演奏音もアダムの歌声もコーラスも公式作品のように極上で、大合唱も超克明。このスペクタクルは……そうですね、まるで絶叫上映の映画館にいるかのよう。そのサウンドでQUEENの名曲群をたっぷりと味わえるわけですが、何と言っても凄まじいのが完全版「Bohemian Rhapsody」。これは……凄い。凄すぎる。バラード・パートの前のアカペラ・パートから始まるわけですが、そのテープも極太サウンドであり、万を数えるコーラス隊も歌う、歌う！　歌うっ!!　１人ひとりの声まで反響でボケない超クッキリ大合唱は、まるでスタジオ録音のコーラスワークが数百倍に膨れあがり、全編を貫いてしまう。こんな超スペクタクルの「Bohemian Rhapsody」はちょっと覚えがない。この効果を狙って完全版にしたのかどうかは分かりませんが、肌が粟立ったままゾクゾクが止まりません。

実のところ、今週同時リリースの他２作に比べると１曲「Bicycle Race」が少ない。しかし、本作の極上サウンドと熱狂はそれを補って余りある。反響ゼロだからこそのダイレクト・サウンドと、映画を経た2019年だからこその巨大な唱和。これまでもQUEEN＋アダムは素晴らしいショウを繰り広げてきましたが、今回のツアーは次元が違う。映画『ボヘミアン・ラプソディ』の成功は、現在のQUEEN人気は、ここまで凄まじいのか……その現実を超絶級のサウンドで目の当たりにするライヴアルバムの大傑作です。後世にも「2019年は全盛期だった」と証言していくであろう語り部アルバム。どうぞ、本作で“全盛の今”を胸いっぱいに噛みしめてください。
