Great … this is great! A new excavation recording that has shaken enthusiasts all over the world has arrived !! It is now available as a press 2CD that permanently preserves the best sound of shock!
It is “July 5, 1980 San Diego performance” that is sealed in such a work. It is the first appearance audience recording. Anyway, this is a new sound source that enthusiasts from all over the world are listening to and trembling with surprise. What is shocking is that the show, which has never been recorded before, suddenly pops out in perfect form, and the sound is superb. In addition to that, it was a ridiculous new excavation that the contents of the show could not be heard anywhere else. The position of the show is the most important to explain the contents. This is the 1980/1981 QUEEN. The tour started on the day of the release of “THE GAME”, but this work is the 4th performance of “North America # 1”, which is also the beginning of the tour. What flows out of this work is not only the show that you hear for the first time, but also the live album that breaks the oldest record of “THE GAME Tour”.
In fact, the show is too wonderful. As a matter of fact, the performance itself seems to be developing only at the beginning of the tour, but the feeling of trial and error is extremely rare. Let’s organize the set here so that you can realize it.

… And it looks like this. As a starting point, I made a comparison with “QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL”, but that’s not the case. Not only the rare “Need Your Loving Tonight” and “Rock It (Prime Jive)”, but also “Play The Game” is the oldest record. Even more surprising is “Ming’s Theme” from “FLASH GORDON”. I just play it short (less than 30 seconds) as an intro to “You’re My Best Friend”, but that melody is spun on the piano instead of the synth. The production of “FLASH GORDON” started as “THE GAME”, but you can feel the historical fact as an actual sound.
The creativity unique to the very early days of the tour can be felt from every corner of the show. For example, “Killer Queen”. I play the piano intro as usual, but it breaks just before the song starts. The play of singing after inviting a roar is thrilling. Also, I wrote earlier that “performance is developing”, but that is just an arrangement, and the condition is already good. Freddie’s throat is also in good shape, and the new song “Save Me” is not the oldest since he played from “THE CRAZY Tour” at the end of the previous year, but he still sang with a lot of emotion while searching for a live arrangement. In addition, the call “Now I’m Here” shows a great performance.

I completely forgot to write it because of the shock, but the sound that tells me the show of such a first experience is wonderful again. It doesn’t feel like it’s in close contact with a sound board, but that’s not a drawback either. The air is clear and clear, and the core that penetrates the center and the fine details are as vivid as a laser beam dancing in dry ice. With the help of the freshness without dubbing marks, you can clearly feel the nuances contained in one word of Freddy’s lyrics as well as the ensemble of four people. Even if it’s not like a sound board, you can feel the “beauty unique to the audience”. If you compare it with Japanese recording, it’s a beautiful recording like a prestigious Kinney (of course, it’s just a metaphor).
At this moment, Mine was intoxicating enthusiasts all over the world, but this work was further refined with the aim of becoming “extreme”. Of course, I don’t imitate the innocent sound pressure earning that makes the natural sound dirty. Check each range in detail and adjust the overall balance. We aimed for a total and well-proportioned depression. The easiest to understand is the treble range. This recording beautifully recorded the treble without hiss, but at the same time it tended to be buried in the mid-low range. In this work, you can feel such a beautiful treble. If you have the original sound of the net, you will be surprised that the extension of the treble, such as the sound of cymbals, can be felt beautifully and clearly.
41 years have passed since this show. I’m always surprised that new vintage recordings are unearthed, but this time the quality and content are different from the usual excavations. With high quality sound that looks like a long-standing classic, arrangements that have never been heard only at the very beginning of the tour pop out one after another. これが1980年／1981年のQUEEN。ツアーは『THE GAME』の発売当日から開始されたわけですが、本作はその序盤も序盤となる「北米#1」の４公演目。本作から流れ出るのは、単に初めて耳にするショウというだけでなく、“THE GAME Tour”最古の記録を更新するライヴアルバムでもあるのです。
実際、そのショウが素晴らしすぎる。実のところ、ツアー序盤だけに演奏自体は発展途上という感じでもあるのですが、その試行錯誤感が激レア。それを実感していただくためにも、ここでセットを整理しておきましょう。

……と、このようになっています。とっかかりとして『QUEEN ROCK MONTREAL』との比較をしておきましたが、それどころじゃない。レアな「Need Your Loving Tonight」「Rock It (Prime Jive)」だけでなく、「Play The Game」も最古の記録。さらに驚きなのは『FLASH GORDON』の「Ming’s Theme」。「You’re My Best Friend」のイントロとして短く（30秒弱）弾くだけなのですが、あのメロディがシンセではなくピアノで紡がれる。『FLASH GORDON』の制作は『THE GAME』とダブって始まっていたわけですが、その史実を実際の音としても感じられるのです。
そうしたツアー極初期ならではの創意はショウの端々からも感じられる。例えば「Killer Queen」。いつも通りにピアノ・イントロを弾くのですが、歌入り寸前にブレイク。どよめきを誘ってから歌い出す遊びがゾクゾクする。また、先ほど「演奏は発展途上」と書きましたが、それはあくまでアレンジの話であり、調子はすでに上々。フレディのノドも調子が良く、新曲「Save Me」は前年暮れの“THE CRAZY Tour”から演奏しているので最古ではありませんが、それでもライヴアレンジを模索しつつも情感たっぷりに歌い上げ。さらに「Now I’m Here」のコールでも絶好調ぶりをみせつけてくれるのです。

あまりの衝撃にすっかり書き忘れておりましたが、そんな初体験のショウを教えてくれるサウンドがまた素晴らしいのなんの。サウンドボードと間違えるようなド密着感ではないのですが、それも欠点ではない。空気感はクリアに晴れ渡り、そのド真ん中を貫く芯も、細やかなディテールも、ドライアイスの中を踊るレーザー光線のように鮮やか。ダビング痕のない瑞々しさも手伝い、４人のアンサンブルはもちろん、フレディの歌詞の一語に込められたニュアンスまでハッキリと感じ取れるのです。サウンドボード的ではなくとも「オーディエンスならではの美」はたっぷりと感じられる。日本録音で喩えるならまるで名門キニーのような美録音なのです（もちろん、あくまで喩えです）。
今この瞬間も美音ぶりが世界中のマニアを酔わせているわけですが、本作はさらに”極み”をめざして磨き込み。もちろん、無闇な音圧稼ぎでせっかくのナチュラルな鳴りを汚すような無粋なマネはしていません。各音域を細かくチェックし、全体のバランスを調整。トータルで均整の取れた鬱草を目指しました。一番分かりやすいのは高音域。この録音はヒスノイズもなしに高音が美しく記録されているのですが、同時に中低音に埋もれがちでもありました。本作ではそんな美しい高音がキッチリと感じ取れる。もしネット原音をお持ちでしたらシンバルの鳴りなど、高音の伸びが美しくクッキリと感じ取れることに驚かれるでしょう。
