The legendary recording of 1979 left by prestigious Kinney brushes up with a new master. It is a permanent preservation press appeared in 2CD.

Not only on the last day but also a part of the Cambodia Relief Charity Concert “CONCERT FOR KAMPUCHEA” by Paul McCartney’s call. It was also its first day.

The show conforms to “LIVE KILLERS”, but there are also new songs “Save Me” and “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” of the next work “THE GAME” that I could not listen to there.
Especially “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” is wonderful. Although this song was also an image, actually Singa Long did not stop ringing even after the performance was finished, but I was forced to reply to QUEEN. They respond to the puzzling taste, entering “Bohemian Rhapsody” as soon as saying “I’m sorry (laugh)” …. “Crazy Little Thing Called Love” became a big hit marking the second place in Britain as the latest single, but its real time feeling is wonderful. その伝説録音とは「1979年12月26日ロンドン公演」。この日は短いテレビ放送や流出プロショットなど映像でも有名ですが、本作はショウの一部始終を完全収録したライヴアルバム。伝統の名会場“ハマースミス・オデオン”で記録された極上オーディエンス録音です。その最大のポイントはアップグレードしたサウンドにありますが、まずはショウのポジション。1979年と言えば、『LIVE KILLERS』にもなった“JAZZ TOUR”が浮かびますが、本作はちょっと違う“CRAZY TOUR”。その状況を整理する意味でも、当時のスケジュールから振り返ってみましょう。

これが『JAZZ』以降の流れ。『LIVE KILLERS』は「欧州」ツアーから制作されましたが、その発売と前後して次作『THE GAME』の制作を開始。10月には先行シングル『Crazy Little Thing Called Love』をリリースし、母国イギリスで実施したのが“CRAZY TOUR”でした。“JAZZ TOUR”では英国公演がなかったこともあり、20公演に及ぶ力の入った日程が組まれました。そんな英国ツアーでも、本作のハマースミス公演はハイライト。最終日というだけでなく、この日はポール・マッカートニーの呼びかけによるカンボジア救済チャリティ・コンサート“CONCERT FOR KAMPUCHEA”の一部。その初日でもありました。
そんなショウはプロショット撮影され、一部がテレビ放送。その後、流出プロショットも発掘され、1979年の象徴ともなっています。しかし、そうした映像編はいずれも不完全版。それに対し、本作はフルショウを楽しめるライヴアルバムなのです。しかも、クオリティが極上。何しろ、本作をモノにしたのはあの“キニー”。日本公演のブート史と同義とさえ言える名門中の名門ですが、実は海外録音も数多く残している。本作もキニーのスタッフが渡英して記録した銘品録音なのです。
この録音自体は従来から知られ、1979年を代表する名作と湛えられてきましたが、本作はさらにアップグレードしたニューマスター。大元マスターかどうかは不明なものの、既発よりも遙かにクッキリとしていて瑞々しい。既発では乱れ気味だった「Jailhouse Rock」のステレオ感も整っていますが、それ以上なのが全編を貫く鮮やかさ。輝くようなクリアさは密着感にもなり、録音ポジションが２-３列ほど前にグッと近づいたかのよう。既発をご存じの方なら、元々オンな録音なのをご存じと思いますが、ニューマスターはさらにQUEENに迫ってしまう。本作を体験した後では、あれほど素晴らしかった既発もモコモコして聴けなくなってしまいます。しかも、本作はそんな新マスターをさらに細心リマスタリング。この録音は若干オーバーピーク気味に始まり、徐々に改善していくことでも知られていますが、本作はそのオーバー感を聴きやすく緩和。もちろん、既発では狂っていたピッチも正確に整え、最高峰マスターに相応しい究極形に仕上げました。
そんな極上サウンドで体験できるフルショウは……凄い。凄すぎる。前述のようにプロショット映像でも知られるわけですが、そこではカットされていた名曲もたっぷりの完全版。ちょっと列挙しますと……「If You Can’t Beat Them」「Mustapha」「Spread Your Wings」「Keep Yourself Alive」「Bohemian Rhapsody」、さらには「Silent Night」や「Brighton Rock」を盛り込み約12分にも及ぶギター＆ドラムソロも完全収録。ショウは『LIVE KILLERS』に準じていますが、そこでは聴けなかった次作『THE GAME』の新曲「Save Me」「Crazy Little Thing Called Love」も披露されています。
特に「Crazy Little Thing Called Love」は素晴らしい。この曲は映像にもなっていましたが、実は一度演奏が終わってからもシンガロングが鳴り止まずにQUEENに無理矢理リプライズさせていた。彼らも困惑気味に応えつつ、「いい加減にしとけ（笑）」と言わんばかりに「Bohemian Rhapsody」へ突入する……。「Crazy Little Thing Called Love」は最新シングルとして全英２位をマークする大ヒットとなっていたわけですが、そのリアルタイム感が素晴らしいのです。その他にも映像ではブツ切りだった曲間やMCの数々も収録。いかにプロショットが残されているとは言え、名演の体験感は比較にもなりません。

絶好調と猛烈テンションが炸裂する極めつけの大名演。そのフルショウをキニー・マジック全開の極上サウンドで捉えた極上ライヴアルバムです。伝統の名作が新マスターでアップグレードした歴史的な大傑作。どうぞ、永久保存プレス２CDでいつでも、いつまでもお楽しみください。

本編プレス２CDは、70年代最後の名演をキニー・サウンドで描くライヴアルバム。それこそ『LIVE KILLERS』さえ凌駕しかねない大傑作です。本来であれば、ボーナスなど不要なのですが、このショウは何よりプロショット映像で有名。そこで、現場の光景も併せてお楽しみ頂くべく、最高峰バージョンを特別にご用意しました。
というわけで、本作に収められているのは本編プレス２CDと同じ「1979年12月26日ロンドン公演」。その流出マルチカメラ・プロショットです。そのクオリティは絶品。時たま微細な白線ノイズや音声の歪みもゼロではないので厳密には「オフィシャル級！」とは言えないものの、それらはあくまで瞬間的なもの。全編を覆い尽くす基本の画質・音質は公式級と呼んでもおかしくない映像美。本編プレス２CDの解説でも触れたようにフルセットと比較すると数曲カットされてもいるのですが、それでも約74分に及ぶマルチカメラ・プロショットは凄まじい見応えです。実のところ、流出マスターには「Don’t Stop Me Now」が収録されていなかったのですが、本作ではテレビ放送からインサート。現存するプロショットを網羅しました。
そして何より、映像の説得力が圧倒的。セットが『LIVE KILLERS』に近い事もあって“動く名盤”としても楽しめますが、演奏のテンションはさらに超絶。その凄味は本編プレスCDでもたっぷり味わえたものの、光景があるとないとでは説得力がまるで違う。“JAZZ TOUR”では母国ショウがなかったせいもあってか、この“CRAZY TOUR”はハイテンションな名演の連続。マニアから「すべてショウが凄い」と言われるほどのツアーでした。しかも、この日はポール・マッカートニーが主催するチェリティで注目度も高く、テレビ放送まで入っている。そんな状況にフレディは燃えに燃え、凄まじいまでのヴォーカリゼーションで吠えまくる。もちろん、その覇気は光景だからこそビビッドで、ダイナミックでキレのあるアクション、絶好調な歌声を振り絞るような表情、半ば暴力的なまでの大暴れ……。フレディだけでなく、ロジャーもえらく気合いが入っているのがマルチカメラのド直近アングルで楽しめます。

ライヴバンドとして大きく飛躍した1979年のQUEEN。レザージャケットに身を包みつつ、まだヒゲを蓄えていないフレディ。猛烈な熱演だけでなく、その姿も光景で味わえる大傑作マルチカメラ・プロショットです。フルショウ体験の素晴らしさは本編プレス２CDに及ぶべくもありませんが、見目麗しいマルチカメラ・プロショットの見応えは何物にも代え難い。まだ33歳で才気走っていたフレディに出逢える至福の約74分。どうぞ、本編プレス２CDと併せてたっぷりとご堪能ください。
