Mirrored’s master excavation project that supported collectors around the world suffering from the new corona epidemic over 2020/2021. Among them, the biggest maze is the gift release decision.

[Mirrored Collection’s premier maze E.P.] The protagonist of this work is THE PRETENDERS. This is a superb audience recording of “September 5, 1981 Pasadena Performance”, which was about 3 weeks after the release of “PRETENDERS II”. Immediately, let’s stop the show position from the schedule at that time … this time. After all, this super-individuality lies in “shortness.” Until now, there have been recordings that did not become the complete version of the show, but this work is not so, only three songs. An 18-minute Odin album for the show with just an encore … No, it’s “Audience E.P.”.
You might think, “What a failure recording?”, But the reason is quite interesting, so I can’t underestimate it. Yes, it’s a show where Millard has been caught. He didn’t seem to tell the story of how he was caught, and details are unknown. Was it found early in the show and only the encore tried again, or was it caught and confiscated after the performance and managed to hide only the second tape? In fact, Millard tried to record Stevie Wonder (December 18, 1979?) In Pasadena two years ago, but failed. He had his equipment confiscated when he brought it in. No way, the guards at that time remembered and caught Millard … It may be an overkill delusion.

[Because you can enjoy gorgeous co-starring with the quality of the stone] Anyway, only 3 encore songs are left. Only their debut “Brass In Pocket” and “Mystery Achievement” and Jackie Wilson’s cover “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher”. But this is not just three songs again. In fact, Bruce Springsteen jumped in and participated in “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher” on that day. It will let you hear a gorgeous co-star. If you are a maniac here, you may have come to the conclusion, but the take of this work was recorded as a bonus in Springsteen’s “LOS ANGELES 1981 3RD NIGHT (Uxbridge 1376)” which became very popular the other day. Millard himself dubbed it and added it to the end of the tape. There was only one co-starring song on that album, but here the full three songs of the encore panoramic view were newly discovered.
It goes without saying much about sound. Naturally, the best with “super”. As expected, it is a brand name of Mirrored. The sound is so wonderful that I was driven by the feeling that I wanted to hear it in full, but at the same time, the fact that even an absolute master would fail is inspiring. It is exactly the audience recording version of “Millard’s Pasadena” of “Kobo also has a mistake in writing”, “Senkan no Ichigo” and “Even Homer sometimes nods”. Please take this opportunity to thoroughly experience the superb maze that remains in the history of recording.

2020年／2021年にわたって新型コロナ禍に喘ぐ世界中のコレクターを支えてくれた、ミラードのマスター発掘事業。その中でも飛びっきりの大迷盤がギフト・リリース決定です。

そんな本作の主役は、THE PRETENDERS。『PRETENDERS II』発売の約３週間後だった「1981年９月５日パサデナ公演」の超極上オーディエンス録音です。早速、当時のスケジュールからショウのポジション……は、今回は止めておきましょう。と言うのも、今回の超個性は「短さ」にある。これまでも惜しいところでショウの完全版とならなかった録音はありましたが、本作はそうではなくたった３曲。アンコールだけでショウに18分のオーディンス・アルバム……いや、「オーディエンスE.P.」なのです。
「なんだ失敗録音かよ」と思われるかも知れませんが、その理由が結構面白いから侮れない。そう、ミラードが捕まってしまったショウなのです。彼は捕まった経緯を話さなかったようで詳細は不明。ショウの序盤で見つかってアンコールだけ再挑戦したのか、それとも終演後に捕まって没収され、２本目のテープだけ何とか隠し通したのか。実のところ、ミラードは２年前のパサデナでもスティーヴィ・ワンダー（1979年12月18日？）を録音しようとしたのですが、失敗。持ち込む段階で機材を没収されてしまった事があります。まさか、その時の警備員がミラードの事を覚えていて捕まえた……というのは出来すぎた妄想かも知れませんが。

【流石のクオリティで豪華共演も楽しめるから侮れない】
ともあれ、残されたのはアンコールの３曲のみ。デビュー作の「Brass In Pocket」「Mystery Achievement」と、ジャッキー・ウィルソンのカバー「(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher」だけでした。しかし、これがまた単なる３曲ではない。実は、この日の「(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher」では、ブルース・スプリングスティーンが飛び入り参加。豪華共演を聴かせてくれるのです。ここでマニアの方ならピンと来たかも知れませんが、先日大好評となったスプリングスティーンの『LOS ANGELES 1981 3RD NIGHT（Uxbridge 1376）』にボーナス収録されていたのが、本作のテイク。ミラード本人がダビングしてテープの最後に追加していたのです。あのアルバムでは共演１曲だけでしたが、ここではアンコール全景の３曲フルが新発掘されたわけです。
サウンドに関しては多くを語るまでもないでしょう。当然の事ながら「超」付きの極上。さすがミラードの銘品です。そのサウンドが素晴らしいからこそ「フルで聴きたかった」という想いにも駆られますが、同時に絶対名手でも失敗するという事実自体に心が掻き立てられる。まさに「弘法にも筆の誤り」「千慮の一失」「Even Homer sometimes nods」のオーディエンス録音版「ミラードのパサデナ」なのです。録音史上に残る超極上の迷盤、どうぞこの機会にじっくりとご体験ください。
