New development in the classic source of Pink Floyd 1977!
That famous sound source that could only be heard by dropping the LP board will come down with the finally discovered tape source !!!

Pink Floyd March 15, 1977. This day is known as the first day of the performance that was performed in London for five consecutive days in Wembley as a tour with the album “Animals”. This recording on March 15 is also familiar to sound source fans since ancient times, and there are many fans who are familiar with the analog bootleg LP “KNOBS” that appeared in 1979 in particular. The source used for this is commonly called “Recorder 1”, and although it has cut points in some scenes, it has maintained good sound quality, and it has been highly recorded since it also recorded “Money” of Angkor. Have been appreciated.

On the other hand, another source called “Recorder 2” exists on this day, which is slightly inferior in sound quality to Recorder 1, but has no scene cut, and is seamlessly recorded from the start of the show to the end of the second half of the show. Known as a source. However, the encore “Money” is also missing, and it has a history that did not hit the spot as Recorder 1 even though it was seamless recording.

Let’s take a look back at the history of the two sources. All of them are representative titles, but I think it will be as follows.

What we want to pay attention to here is Recorder 1, and this source only appeared on the master of “KNOBS” LP. In other words, because the tape sound source was not excavated, it was a state where only LP occurred. Several CD (* or CDR) titles using this source have appeared since the CD era, but all of them were dropped from KNOBS LP and used for the LP. -It was not a transfer from the source. Therefore, there was a situation where all titles were filled with sound quality similar to the missing parts of the same part.

However, in the summer of 2019, a lightning-light paradigm shift occurred in this situation. Recorder 1 used in this “KNOBS” LP was newly discovered in a low-generation tape source! Amazingly, its sound quality, this “New Recorder 1” is “KNOBS” It was very difficult because I was breathing with a master direct sound image with much higher resolution than what I heard at the source. In addition, this tape also had a cut point as in “Old Recorder 1”, but the cut is clearly different from the source using “KNOBS”. It was a surprise doubling because it turned out to be another source branched from the tape.

With this new excavation tape, we became able to listen to Recorder 1 for the first time as a tape source, not as a record drop from “KNOBS” LP (* With significant sound quality improvement !!) The new Recorder 1 that was uploaded to is still incomplete with cuts as before. But the missing section should be solved by digitally filling Recorder 2, which is seamless and remains recorded. Because, in the first place, most of the missing parts of the old and new Recorder 1 are (* cut point is different) after the introduction and the end of the song, that is, between the song and the song, all the scenes just to Recorder 2 Because it is a silent part where no sound is broken, the connection part of both sources can be a natural and perfect finish in any scene. Furthermore, if the Recorder 2 that was not hitting the spot so far is also polished and arranged in the best material, the recording of the day will be summarized by all the best sources at present. That’s right, this press board “WEMBLEY 1977 1ST NIGHT” that should be called “new classic KNOBS” !!!

Disks 1 and 2 are “New Recorder 1”. Rather than dropping the original sound from the LP, this is the first disc ever recorded from a newly excavated Recorder 1 tape source. It is a version.

First of all, “Sheep” pays attention to the feeling of openness from 4:20, where the outstanding performance is interrupted. The space of the place is also more transparent and more transparent than the “KNOBS” LP source, and there is also a high-resolution direct hit feeling with no sound blur even when the drive feeling further increases from 7:48 to the final song , You will feel the power of sound more reliable than ever. In addition, 0:00-1:19 of the introduction part and 11: 52 ~ after the end of the song are connected by supplementing Recorder 2 because the scene is missing in this new excavated tape source, but perfection with zero discomfort As a result, the documentary performance is increasing due to the increased seamlessness. “Pigs On The Wing part 1” is astounded by the guitar sound with transparency and gloss that can be said to be different from Recorder 1 from the beginning, but it is “Dogs” that can not hide the surprise further It will be. Here, the boost feeling of the low range is remarkable, and the massive sound that doesn’t break up is developed. Compared to listening, you can feel the expansion of the sound even in the mid to high range, the scene of the example that sings with a twin guitar has a wide range and high resolution, and the middle part is like a synthesizer velvet The glossiness of timbre diffusion appears at a special depth. From 17:32 to 18:25, Recorder 2 is supplemented here as well, but the completeness of the scene without any sense of incongruity awakens a new excitement. In “Pigs (Three Different Ones)”, the sense of blockage in the “KNOBS” source disappears, and the original beat of the original sound appears, and the quality of the emitted sound is completely different from before I am amazed by the facts. The scene where Roger shouts the number of performances as “Twenty-one! (21!)” At 12:10 is even clearer, and the singing voice and the ensemble of the back are also a big topic.

In “Shine On You Crazy Diamond I-V”, the countdown voice before the guitar enters at the beginning becomes more vivid than before, and the entire song has a much wider tone and smoother reverberation. This is a good example of the difference in the sound image due to the difference in generation even with the same source. After 14:06, this is also covered by Recorder 2, which also boasts a perfect finish that correctly complements the on-site documentary nature and timeline flow. Both “Welcome To The Machine” and “Have A Cigar” are much easier to listen to because the mid-range resolution has increased. In particular, “Have A Cigar” has a sharper increase in treble and power (* remarkable in the middle guitar solo), and it can be recalled that the master original sound that has not yet been discovered is a rich sound. . The connecting SE that had been cut from the end of the song to the next song also maintained perfect continuity by making up for Recorder 2, and in the “Wish You Were Here”, the movement and tone of the sound will increase. The brilliant and unusual Roger singing hamori also appears in a beautiful sound image unique to the new excavated tape source. “Shine On You Crazy Diamond VI-IX” will leave an overwhelming listening response and a lingering sound that will not be comparable to the “KNOBS” source since the middle of the song. In particular, the feeling of direct hit from 12: 10 ~ is intense, Fortessimo is daringly violently blooming, and Pianissimo is regaining its quieter and smoother luster. Encore’s “Money” also has a clear sound image that conveys the changes in the expression of the performance in detail, and the appeal of the new excavation tape that is tough but fully equipped with dignity and clarity extends to the disc end. .

Disks 3 and 4 are the full recording version of Recorder 2. Originally, “Money” is missing and the sound quality is slightly inferior to Recorder 1, but this time it is a digital source that is directly DAT converted from the master tape, so it is a disc that can be enjoyed in the best state of Recorder 2 at present. It is a feature. By the way, there is an impression that this Recorder 2 is a sub-source on the same day to make up for the shortcomings of Recorder 1, the main player, but this is a terrible misunderstanding. I understand that I hear it again, but this happens to be just a little inferior in sound quality to the main role source, and it is a sufficiently high quality recording if considered as an AUD recording of that era (* otherwise it is somewhat the same day Even though it is a separate recording, it is not used as a supplement source. For example, please compare and compare the distinctive twin guitar sounds you can listen to in “Dogs” and the driving feeling of the songs that develop from there. Recorder 1 is certainly a clearer sound image, but not as fresh as Recorder 2. “Pigs On The Wing part 2” will also be surprised by the fact that the composition of tape and hiss is thinner than Recorder 1 and that Roger’s singing voice is much clearer than Recorder 1. In short, the disadvantage of Recorder 2 is that the sound tends to break up when the bass becomes loud, and the silent part maintains the sound quality comparable to Recorder 1.

One of the most prominent songs is “Shine On You Crazy Diamond I-V”. Recorder 1 (= Disc 2) has the same Recorder 2 in the interval from 0:00 to 2:28, but why not listen to the sound after 2:29 on this Disc 4? Please. There is a sound that is as good as or better than Recorder 1 everywhere. Similarly, “Wish You Were Here” is closer to Gilmore’s vocals than Recorder 1, and you can see that the guitar is recorded in amazingly beautiful ways. As you may have already noticed, in other words, the discs 1 and 2 of this work have a luxurious configuration that actually uses only a handful of the good points of Recorder 2. Of course, Recorder 2 has the biggest drawback that “Money” is not recorded, but depending on the scene, the seamlessness that can be heard from the beginning of the show to the end of Part 2 in a better state than Recorder 1 is just a diff source for compensation In this position, it has a side that cannot be cleaned up, and these discs 3 and 4 are discs that can be rediscovered.

Recorder 1, which had only been LP-triggered for a long time without excavating the tape sound source, because it is slightly inferior in sound quality despite being uncut

「Welcome To The Machine」と「Have A Cigar」は共に中音域の解像度が増した事で演奏が格段に聴き易くなりました。

この最も顕著な一曲は「Shine On You Crazy Diamond I-V」でしょう。

Recorder 1 recorded the first day of Floyd’s March 1977 Wembley performance with great sound. The bootleg LP “ KNOBS ” that made its existence known to the world at the end of the 1970s is included as a bonus disc only for the first week of release.

The analog bootleg LP “KNOBS” that made fans all over the world know about the first day of Wembley’s 5 consecutive performances in March 1977. As you know, this analog board appeared as a black and white monotone jacket “KNOBS (IMP 2-15)” from THE IMPOSSIBLE RECORDWORKS in 1979, and as a reissue in the early 1980s, it is richer than US TOASTED RECORDS “KNOBS (2S 907)”, a deluxe full color jacket set of 2 has appeared. To tell the truth, in terms of the speed of release, GIANT BARN DANCE (PF3077 A / B) and its sister board 30KW PA (PF3077 C / D) were released from Japan here in 1977. However, it is the “KNOBS” LP that many sound source fans will recall on the analog board containing Wembley in 1977. Both “KNOBS” LPs are exactly the same, although the cover is different, but unfortunately the original LPs are currently missing the opportunity to listen if there is no chance to see them. Therefore, in order to be able to try this nostalgic analog sound along with the release of Sigma’s latest work “WEMBLEY 1977 1st NIGHT” this time, the complete disc transferred from the original “KNOBS” masterpiece is a special bonus title for this weekend only. I prepared.

By the way, this “KNOBS” LP uses the same Recorder 1 as the new excavation tape source used in the discs 1 and 2 of this latest Sigma “WEMBLEY 1977 1st NIGHT”. Since it is a different source of genes that followed another route from, there are some differences. In particular, the difference in individuality has come out greatly in terms of sound quality, but regarding the clarity and master direct feeling, although the natural distribution goes up to the low-gen tape that was unearthed this time, “KNOBS” LP is slightly lacking in its clarity On the other hand, there is a feeling of direct hit of dense sound, and you can fully enjoy the massive sound attack that Floyd at that time had released. In particular, the remarkable depth of volume in the mid to low range is quite a thing that you can listen to with modern acoustic sensations.

In addition, the “flame” set that was actually the second half of the show was on the A side and B side (= this disc 1), and the “Animals” set that was actually the first half of the show was the C side and D side (= The feature that seems to be analog boot leg at the time such as recorded on this disc 2) is left as it is, and “ Us And Them ” recorded as the second song on the D-side is also on the disk 2- (6) Contains. As you know, this “ Us And Them ” is another source that is said to be a performance on March 19, 1977 (※ 4 performances of all 5 Wembley performances), but in the actual 19th performance “ Us Since “And Them” was not played, it is unknown exactly which year and date it was played. This seems to be a trace of trying to make effective use of the recording time frame that remained on the D side of the board at the time of LP production, but this 1977 Wembley 6DAYS encore song is “ Money ” or “ Us And Them ” depending on the day ”Was played (* the first two days were“ Money ”and“ Us And Them ”was entered in the second half, but there were days when there was no encore) It may have been recorded to add.

On the other hand, there was a new discovery by comparing with the new excavated tape source. For example, the applause after the performance of “Dogs” and “Pigs On The Wing part 2” that can be heard on this “KNOBS” LP can be seen as a fake patched from another sound source, and the “KNOBS” source has “Shine” From the end of On You … 6-9 to the start of Money, there are about 20 seconds of audience scenes and register sounds that do not exist in the new tape source. You can see a lot of things. After all, with the advent of this new tape source, Recorder 1 has just begun its comparative verification. Compared to this nostalgic classic LP, the details become clearer
Ku … This is a special item for the week only that was prepared with a conviction. It will end as soon as the week changes, so please take advantage of this opportunity!
