PINK FLOYD who dominated the world with a concept work by Roger Waters. Just before that, “The 1971 Meddle Tour” is also popular as a total settlement tour for FLOYD, who was a “sound artist”. There are many masterpiece recordings left, but this work is “November 12, Pennsylvania Performance, Tape 1”, which was known to those who know it. Why was it “knowing only those who know”? First of all, there were two types of records in this live, and “Tape 2” was recorded longer. Secondly, the sound quality of “Tape 1” has been unsatisfactory until now. However, a few years ago, a version of “Tape 1” called “Low Transfer Tape” suddenly appeared on the net. With a sound that has become much fresher, you can now enjoy rare recordings. The sound isn’t “press grade!”, But it’s not something like “searching for musical sounds in noise”, and you can enjoy listening to it normally. It’s a real audience that immerses you in the natural sound when listening with headphones. Moreover, the pitch was just right when it appeared on the net, and this alone shows the certainty of the generation of this take. It’s a vintage sound that you can listen to carefully. Also, “Tape 2” is known to be longer, but there is no “The Embryo”, “Fat Old Sun” is cut in, and “Echoes” fades out on the way. On the other hand, these songs are completely recorded in this work. The close combination of the rhythm section was wonderful on this day, and Waters performed a long performance while leading the jam in the daytime part of “Embrio”. “Echoes”, which can be enjoyed in a long version of 25 minutes or more, also has a faster tempo than usual, and it has a slightly mysterious atmosphere without echo feeling or damage. Recording time is about 70 minutes. The sound quality and performance are excellent, and it is definitely a must-listen for fans.

ロジャー・ウォーターズによるコンセプト作品で世界を制していったPINK FLOYD。「The 1971 Meddle Tour」はその直前にあたり、あくまで“サウンド・アーティスト”であったFLOYDの総決算ツアーとしても人気です。数々の傑作録音が残されていますが、本作は“知る人ぞ知る”という存在だった「11月12日ペンシルヴァニア公演・テープ１」です。なぜ“知る人ぞ知る”だったのか？　まず第１に、このライヴには２種類の記録があり、「テープ２」の方が長く記録されていました。第２に、今まで「テープ１」のサウンド・クオリティは今ひとつなものばかりだったのです。しかし、数年前、突如ネット上に「テープ１」の「Low Transfer Tape」なるバージョンが登場。グッと鮮度の良くなったサウンドで、レア録音が堪能できるようになったのです。そのサウンドは「プレス級！」とまでは言いませんが、よくある“ノイズの中から楽音を探す”といった類ではなく、普通に聴いていて十分以上に楽しめる。ヘッドフォンで聴いていると、自然な鳴りに没入してしまうリアル・オーディエンスです。しかもネットに登場した段階でピッチはジャストで正しく、これだけでも本テイクのジェネレーションの確かさが伺われるというもの。まさにじっくりと聴き入ることのできるヴィンテージ・サウンドなのです。また、「テープ２」の方が長尺で知られていますが、そちらは「The Embryo」がなく、「Fat Old Sun」がカットインで入るほか、「Echoes」も途中でフェイドアウトしてしまう。それに対し、本作ではこれらの曲が完全に収録されているのです。この日はリズムセクションの緊密なコンビネーションが素晴らしく、「エンブリオ」昼間部のジャムではウォーターズがリードしながら長めの演奏を披露。25分以上の長尺バージョンで楽しめる「Echoes」も通常よりも速めのテンポで、エコー感やタメのないちょっと不思議な雰囲気のバージョンになっています。収録時間約70分。音質も演奏も素晴らしく、間違いなくファン必聴の一枚です。
