A sequel to the popular “THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON DOCUMENTARY”. A masterpiece documentary featuring the masterpiece “Wish You Were Here” will be released as a gift.
This work is a special TV program “THE STORY OF WISH YOU WERE HERE” produced in the UK. This program was also made into an official DVD in 2012, but this work was broadcast on a certain satellite broadcasting station in September 2010, two years before that. The documentary is a DVD version of the Japanese broadcast version with important Japanese subtitles.
The content is just a masterpiece. As with the previous “Insanity” documentary, members, producers, designers, photographers, and other people who were directly involved in the album production, as well as managers and journalists, have appeared. We will reproduce the scene where the album is completed with realistic comments.
The album, such as the early days when he was lethargic due to the huge success of “Insanity”, the misery of the premiere of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”, and the appearance of moving forward after discovering the theme “Absence”. The stage of creating is piled up in words with a real feeling. Moreover, in the case of this work, it is not just the facts. People who know the early days, such as members and managers, become Sid’s people, compliment them, and talk about their hard-to-speak real intentions, which gives weight and realism to the facts they have known so far. For example, an episode in which Sid visited the studio during the production of “Flame.” The fact itself is famous, and I’ve seen it many times in the text, “Roger was so shocked that he cried.” However, in this work, the situation is too real. “David asked,’Who do you know?'” “But I don’t know who he is …” Nick choked, “Everyone was shocked and someone called out to him. I was waiting for you. ” Gilmour also squeezes out the words, “It’s strange that such a long and awkward air flows,” “he was thin, elegant, and sometimes sloppy and dull.” There will be a photo of Sid who has changed, but the voices and facial expressions of the members and people involved in the scene are heavy and real. A sense of reality that is different from the facts that you just know is engraved in your heart.

Of course, this work is not a tear-dropping drama that directs a sad episode in the dark clouds, but a documentary that digs out the back side of the masterpiece. It is also full of interesting episodes of the production process. Especially interesting is the scene of engineer Brian Humphreys. Just like the previous work “Insanity”, it will play and explain the real multi-track while actually playing with the console. For example, “Have A Cigar”. At first, Gilmour and Roger tried to sing, but they didn’t come along well, and Roy Harper was appointed, but even there, the take recorded at that time was played, and as if to say (Isn’t it not good enough?), “This is Dave. (Song) “” This is Roger “. Even with Roy’s take, valuable takes such as a cappella version without any back and unreleased version will be shown one after another (albeit partially). Unfortunately, I rarely mention “HOUSEHOLD OBJECTS”, but there is a story that the sound of the wine glass is the intro of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”.
Also, not only music, but also plenty of album jackets and animations. Designers Storm Thorgerson and Aubrey Po Powell, photographer Jill Pharmanovsky, and illustrator Gerald Scarfe will also appear, talking about the scene where numerous artworks were born. There are lots of interesting stories such as the meaning of Mickey Mouse and avant-garde animation in drug pickling, the story of submerging the model in water, and the fact that black wrapping means “absence”. A particularly masterpiece is Ronnie Rondel, who is burning in that jacket. He was a stuntman, “I can afford it” and “It was an easy victory”, while looking back at the time, he revealed that he became a fire doll at the end of the shooting, “I will draw a fire (with a picture) at the next opportunity. I don’t mind, though. ” Not only can you see the site that was the source of the Japanese title “Flame”, but it’s also fun to see the person himself.
There are plenty of people involved that are hard to see, but the first is the member’s own scene. Rick, who was deceased at the time of the program’s production, also appeared in an archive interview in 2001, and all four talked a lot. In particular, Roger and Gilmour respond to the interview with an acoustic guitar in one hand, and they will also perform live music according to the content on the spot. Is “Wish You Were Here” particularly wonderful? Roger said, “The collaboration with David was very good,” he said, and it intersected with Gilmour’s playing scene. It’s been 24 years since “Wish You Were Here”, and the highlight that connects with the reunion scene of “LIVE 8” is really moving.

This work ends with the telop of “Syd Barrett died in 2006, 60 years old” and “Richard Wright died in 2008, 65 years old”. “Wish You Were Here” wasn’t just an excellent music album, it was a piece that ran through their lives and careers … It’s a video work that makes you realize that. Since there will be additional interviews on the official DVD later, it will be a collection-like piece for those who have the official edition, but for those who see it for the first time, it will be impressed by the degree of perfection that is different from the documentary of about 100. Probably. A masterpiece of music documentary that is as good as the “madness” edition. Please take this opportunity to experience the Japanese broadcast version.

大好評を賜っている『THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON DOCUMENTARY』の続編とも言うべき1枚。
そんな本作は、英国で制作されたテレビ特番“THE STORY OF WISH YOU WERE HERE”。

例えば、「Have A Cigar」。
特に素晴らしいのは「Wish You Were Here」でしょうか。
