“The Libest Spacement Monitor” …… Many of you may have already noticed the true identity of this work just by the title of this song. Yes, the source of this work is the legendary masterpiece bootleg LP “PICTURES OF PINK FLOYD Volume One / Two”. It is the highest peak update board.

[Upgraded legendary recording that allows you to experience the best of phantom unreleased songs] This LP is a historically important work, and at the same time it is a mysterious recording. First of all, the recording date has not been fixed. It has been believed to be “November 11, 1970 Gothenburg performance” from the analog era, but in recent years, genuine Gothenburg recordings have been unearthed. It turned out to be another performance. Subsequent research has shown that the “November 28, 1970 Saarbrücken performance” theory has become the most prominent, but it seems that it has not been finalized either. Anyway, such “PICTURES OF PINK FLOYD” has become a historically important work due to its overwhelming sound quality and the existence of the unreleased song “The Libest Spacement Monitor”, and has produced numerous copy titles in both the analog and CD eras. .. First and foremost, sound. The highest peak so far was the version announced by The “Pictures Of Pink Floyd” Restoration Project 5 years ago (2016), but this work uses the original LP of the 1st press that was miraculously excavated. There is. Of course, the precious original LP is digitized with the latest equipment and environment. In fact, the sound quality that flows out of this work is just a new peak. Smoother and more natural than the 2016 version. There is a solid density in the midrange, and the dynamism of the generously thick bass is wonderful. The previous version was also beautiful, but now that I know this work, the mid-high range feels rough, and the distortion is even piercing.

このLPは歴史的重要作であり、同時に謎多き録音でもあります。まず録音日が確定されていない。アナログ時代から“1970年11月11日ヨーテボリ公演”と信じられてきたのですが、近年になって正真正銘のヨーテボリ録音が発掘。別公演だと判明しました。その後のリサーチによって「1970年11月28日ザールブリュッケン公演」説が最有力となっていますが、それも確定とはなっていないようです。ともあれ、そんな『PICTURES OF PINK FLOYD』は素晴らしすぎるサウンド・クオリティと未発表曲「The Libest Spacement Monitor」の存在によって歴史的重要作となり、アナログ時代でもCD時代でも数々のコピー・タイトルを生み出してきました。本作もその１つでありつつ、2021年に可能な最高峰を極めたタイトルなのです。
まず、何よりもサウンド。これまでの最高峰は５年前（2016年）にThe “Pictures Of Pink Floyd” Restoration Projectよって発表されたバージョンでしたが、本作は奇跡的に発掘された1stプレスのオリジナルLPが使用されている。もちろん、その貴重なオリジナルLPを最新仕様の機材・環境でデジタル化しているのです。実際、本作から流れ出るそのサウンド・クオリティは、まさに新たなる頂。2016年版と比べてもより滑らかでナチュラル。中音域にしっかりとした密度があり、たっぷりとした厚みの低音によるダイナミズムが素晴らしい。従来版も美しかったものの、本作を知った今となっては中高音が荒く感じられてしまい、歪みが刺々しくさえあるのです。

【実際のショウ通りに再構成した至高のライヴアルバム】
そんな最新トランスファーは今この瞬間も世界中のコレクターを歓喜させているわけですが、本作はさらにもう一歩踏み込み、実際のショウに最接近するライヴアルバムに仕上げました。それは、曲順。実のところ、オリジナル『PICTURES OF PINK FLOYD』は『Volume One』『Volume Two』の２枚に分けてリリースされたものの、片面ずつのLPに収めるために曲順が完全に無視されていました。本作ではそれを本来の曲順通りに直しているのです。ここで本作の内容を当日セットに当てはめてみましょう。

……と、このようになっています。オリジナルLPのトラックリストには「The Embryo」がありませんでしたが、これは「The Libest Spacement Monitor」の後半部としてメドレー演奏されいたものです。４曲分がLP化されなかったためにフルショウを聴く術はないわけですが、それ以外は当日通り。これまでバラバラだった中盤（Atom Heart MotherからGreen is the Colourにかけて）が本来通りの流れで楽しめるわけです。
さて、ここで従来版をご存知の方なら「旧Ｂ面2-3」だった「Blues」「Atom Heart Mother (reprise)」がない事に気づかれるでしょう。実は、この２曲は別公演（1971年２月26日オッフェンバッハ）の録音。そちらは今週同時リリースの『OFFENBACH 1971: 1ST GEN CASSETTES NEW TRANSFER（Sigma 273）』に収録し、本作ではあくまで「ザールブリュッケン録音」だけで統一。両公演とも、実際のコンサート通りの姿、本来あるべき姿に可能な限り近づけて永久保存しているのです。
こうして甦った歴史的なショウは完全に新しく、より一層リアルに感じられる。特に圧倒的なのは、やはり目玉の「The Libest Spacement Monitor」。混沌としたインプロヴィゼーションが徐々に醸成されてゆき、４分半ほどしたところから闇から浮かぶように姿を現すベース・リフによって世界が転換。スライドギターやオルガンのサイケデリック饗宴からメインテーマ的な「The Embryo」へと一気に雪崩れ込んでいく……。このメドレーだけでも極めてドラマティックですが、本作はさらにキチンと前曲「Atom Heart Mother」や後続曲「Green is the Colour」にも挟まれて聴ける。これまでは１曲単位に聴けるだけ有り難いレベルだったわけですが、本作ではショウの中でどんな役割を担っていたのかまで実際の音として実感できるのです。
