Mike Millard’s April LA Sports Arena, Jerry Moore’s June Nassau Coliseum, and the next day’s Boston Garden are among the three biggest audiences on the 1975 US Tour. A transcendental quality audience that is still in use today, beyond the age of 75 years. In fact, the sound quality was so good that the verification of the sound source itself was scrutinized, and as a result, the definitive edition of each recorded item has been released from the SIGMA label in the last 10 years.
Boston was the first to take the lead. In the first place, a transcendent quality audience by both Steve Hopkins and Dan Lampinsky was left on this day, and not only each “RAVE MASTER” title but also “RAVE MASTER MATRIX” which combined them was released. .. However, all of them were released until 2012, and even if they were released, they were sold out (laughs). So to speak, it is like “Eddie” in the Floyd sound source world. Every time a sound source with improved sound quality appears, the item has been upgraded, but nearly 10 years have passed (it’s early …), and surprisingly there is no current item at SIGMA. ..
Of course, re-release of various items was desired, but of course there is no way to re-release the audience recording of such transcendental quality as it was 10 years ago. Above all, technology is evolving over the years. Therefore, this time, each sound source was made into a CD from the Unprocessed version of 24Bit / 96kHz that was on the net.

First of all, Steve Hopkins (hereinafter abbreviated as “Hopkin”) Master was sold out at the same time as the masterpiece “BOSTON 1975: UNPROCESSED HOPKINS MASTER” was released in 2012, but this time also at that time I am using the first direct master transfer that does not go through DAT, which was released by JEMS and became a hot topic, but at that time I was using the 16-bit version, but this time I am using the 24-bit version However, the deterioration of down conversion is minimized compared to the time of 2012, and the release that can be said to be the last useless push is realized. Of course, there is no extreme difference in sound quality, but I’m sure it’s still the best version.
In the first place, the Hopkin Master has a very muscular impression, and in combination with the amazing sound image, it is a transcendental quality that makes you want to describe it as a “sound board”, and documented the night of 1975 Boston wonderfully. A broken recording. Therefore, “Unprocessed” is inevitable. This version pushes this incredible quality to the limit.
The “THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON” part conveys that upper feeling in an easy-to-understand manner. Not only is the sound image close, but the rich and warm presence of cheers that boiled at the moment “Breath” started is more reproducible than the 2012 edition. Also, the incredible clearness that you can completely hear the details of the performance where Nick and Roger’s rhythm section and Gilmour who is devoted to cutting are united immediately after “Any Color You Like” started. I wonder if it will be overwhelmed by the prestigious and superb sound quality that is the best masterpiece among the Hopkin Masters produced in the 70’s.

On the other hand, Dan Lampinsky (hereinafter abbreviated as “Lampin”) master, but in fact his single release of the sound source was “DEFINITIVE RAVE MASTER” in 2009, and the one released in 2012 was Hopkin sound source. It is a mix of “RAVE MASTER MATRIX”, and in fact, it is said that the release with the “Unprocessed” concept was not realized. At the time of 2012, it seemed that the 75 Boston release was swept by “BOSTON 1975: UNPROCESSED HOPKINS MASTER”, and the “Unprocessed” version of Lampin release was overlooked.
The concept of this release is the coupling and best version of the Boston 75-car sound source, which was unlikely until now, but rather it may be Lampin’s first “Unprocessed” recording that can be called the centerpiece. In the first place, the predecessor “DEFINITIVE RAVE MASTER” was released more than 10 years ago, so it is natural that if you use the 24Bit / 96kHz version this time, you will feel an upper feeling.
Lampin recording, which had a delicate high-pitched sound compared to Hopkin recording, which had a strong sound pressure. With this release, it’s amazing freshness with a more relaxed treble, it’s like silk. The appeal of his recording is that the tones of Rick’s synths are reproduced in a relaxed manner. In that case, the delicacy of the new song set in the first half of the live, especially “Shine On You Crazy Diamond”, stands out. This expressiveness has improved dramatically compared to the 2009 version, and it is natural to make up for the missing part with Hopkin recording. This can be called the emergence of a new definitive edition without any price.

If you think about it, it’s unlikely that it would be a pain to hear and compare two audiences with a sound source that captures the same live performance. It is amazing that you can enjoy the powerful hopkin and the beautiful lampin, and the laid-back feeling of the performance that was glimpsed from the “THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON” set on the previous day became even more prominent.
Above all, both have high-level sound quality that cannot be thought of as a 1975 audience recording, but each has a distinctive taste. In 2012, “RAVE MASTER MATRIX”, which was a good mix of them, became a bestseller, but in 2021, what is desired is a version that records each of the two sound sources completely and with the best sound quality. ..
In addition, both sound sources had a playing time that fits on two discs in 75 America, so a package that fits tightly on a total of four discs will be very useful for enthusiasts. The most important sound source in the Floyd 1975 tour, which has produced many masterpieces so far, Boston is a culmination that was unlikely until now. This is the strongest coupling of both Hopkin and Lampin, which can be said to be a sample of exceptional audience recording. From beginners to enthusiasts, Boston 75 is OK!

★ Steve Hopkins Master remains the same.
★ Dan Lampinski Master fixes fast pitch. (Dan Lampinski has a cut in the song, so I made up for it.)

そのアッパー感を解りやすく伝えてくれるのが「THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON」パート。
