[Superb stereo sound board born from the beginning of the depression tour] The symbol board was recorded at “October 11, 1987 East Rutherford Performance”. The “IZOD Center” had three consecutive performances, and it was recorded on the stereo sound board during that day. This is the whole picture of “A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON Tour”. “DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER” is “North America # 3” in the latter half of the tour. It was compiled from the Nassau Coliseum 5 consecutive performances, but the East Rutherford performance of this work is also in the early stages. It was the 21st performance of “North America # 1”.
This show is famous for having a superb sound board left above all. Nowadays, there are more types of “depression tour” soundboards, but the East Rutherford SBD was discovered in 2013, the earliest of them. Moreover, in terms of sound quality and the length of recording all songs (although it is not a complete recording because some songs are missing), it was suitable for becoming an eternal decisive board as soon as it appeared. Unlike “DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER”, which is knitted from multiple performances, “live feeling” that flows at once, “real feeling” that is not directed by the mix, and “separate performance” that does not suffer a single sound from the official A special feeling has been loved. It was a big hit at our shop as “A MOMENTARY LAPSE IN NEW JERSEY 1987”, but it was sold out and out of print soon. This work is a brush-up of the standard sound board with the latest mastering.
Honestly, each work is so delicate that it is not as effective as “it’s like a different thing!”, But if dust accumulates, it will become a mountain. Nothing is as easy as earning sound pressure that surprises you when you hear it, but the aesthetics of this work are the exact opposite. Even if only a limited number of audiophiles notice it, I’ve focused on accuracy. Instead, it is one of the rarest generations that has refined the legendary sound source with unprecedented precision.
The origin is the same as before, so it is the same that there are cuts between the first half of “One Of These Days” and “Money / Another Brick In The Wall Part 2”. There is no surprising complement. Therefore, it cannot be touted as “perfect and complete recording!”, But it is a brand that you can enjoy almost the whole view of the show with the best sound board. If you want to enjoy the official “DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER” as if it were the original story, it would be “NASSAU COLISEUM 1988 (Sigma 120)”, but if you want to enjoy the “show different from the official” with the highest quality, there is no live album more than this work. .. A two-disc set that perpetuates the highest peak of such a historical masterpiece. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.

“A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON Tour”を象徴してきた超極上サウンドボード・アルバムがフル・ブラッシュアップ。「GRAF ZEPPELIN」による細密マスタリングで磨き込まれた永久保存プレス２CDが登場です。
【鬱ツアー序盤から誕生した超極上ステレオ・サウンドボード】
その象徴盤が記録されたのは「1987年10月11日イーストラザフォード公演」。“アイゾッド・センター”では３日連続公演が行われましたが、その中日で収録されたステレオ・サウンドボード録音です。“鬱ツアー”と言えば、何よりも公式作『DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER』となるわけですが、本作はそれとは一切関係ないショウでありながらほぼフルショウを極上サウンドボードで味わえる決定盤。その辺の事情をイメージするためにも、まずは「フロイド復活！」を満天下に示したワールド・ツアー全景から振り返ってみましょう。

これが“A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON Tour”の全体像。『DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER』はツアー後半の「北米#3」。ナッソー・コロシアム５連続公演から編纂されましたが、それに対して本作のイーストラザフォード公演は序盤も序盤。「北米#1」の21公演目にあたるコンサートでした。
このショウは、何よりも超極上サウンドボードが残された事で有名。今でこそ“鬱ツアー”のサウンドボードも種類が増えましたが、イーストラザフォードSBDはその中でも早い時期の2013年に発掘されたもの。しかも、サウンド・クオリティ的にも全曲を収録（一部の曲で欠けがあるので完全収録ではありませんが）した長さ的にも、登場と同時に永遠の決定盤となるに相応しいものでした。複数公演から編まれた『DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER』とは違い、一気に流れる「ライヴ感」やミックスで演出されていない「本生感」、そして公式とは１音も被らない「別公演」の特別感が愛されてきました。当店でも『A MOMENTARY LAPSE IN NEW JERSEY 1987』として大ヒットしましたが、間もなく完売・廃盤。本作は、その大定番サウンドボードを最新マスタリングでブラッシュ・アップしたものなのです。
【精度にこだわり抜いた超・精密マスタリング】
そして、本作の命はマスタリングの精度。従来盤をご存知の方なら「完全オフィシャル級なんだからイジりようがないだろ？」と思われるかも知れませんが、重箱の隅をつつき回るとアラはあるもの。作業を担当したのはヴィンテージ・アーカイヴで定評のある「GRAF ZEPPELIN」でして、鉄壁のピッチ補正は当然として、極々微細なプチノイズも１つひとつを摘み上げるように除去し、曲間のヒスも１デジベル単位で処理。位相のズレも1/1000秒まで突き詰めて修正している。もしかしたら「ブラッシュ・アップ」というよりも「チューン・アップ」と言った方が適切なのかも知れません。
正直なところ、１つひとつの作業はあまりにも繊細なために「まるで別物！」というほどの効果ではないのですが、塵も積もれば山となる。パッと聴いて驚く音圧稼ぎほどカンタンなものはないのですが、本作の美学はそれとは真逆。たとえ限られたオーディオ・マニアにしか気づかれないとしても、あくまでも精度だけにこだわり抜いた。その代わり、かつてない精度で伝説音源を磨き上げた希代の１本となっているのです。
大元は従来と同じですので、「One Of These Days」前半や「Money／Another Brick In The Wall Part 2」の間でカットがあるのは同じ。ビックリするような補完もありません。そのため「完全無欠・完全収録！」と喧伝するわけにはいきませんが、ほぼほぼショウの全景を極上サウンドボードで味わえる銘品中の銘品です。公式『DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER』の元ネタ感覚で楽しむなら『NASSAU COLISEUM 1988（Sigma 120）』という事になりますが、「公式とは違うショウ」を最高品位で味わうなら本作以上のライヴアルバムない。そんな歴史的名作の最高峰を永久した２枚組。どうぞ、心ゆくまで存分にご堪能ください。

The main press 2CD is the ultimate version of the stereo sound board, which is the highest peak in the “A MOMENTARY LAPSE OF REASON Tour”. It is the highest peak board where you can enjoy the through stage without any official live album. As a bonus to celebrate the highest peak of such a live album, we have prepared the highest peak of the image. Yes, it is the official masterpiece “DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER” that was nominated for the Grammy Award at that time.
[Original edited version completely different from the current official DVD] As you know, this masterpiece has been out of print for a long time, but it will be made into a DVD as part of the 2019 BOX set “THE LATER YEARS”. Furthermore, in 2020, a single release was realized. This work is a copy of such an official DVD. .. .. Well, there isn’t. It is a precise reproduction from the Japanese version of the laser disc, which is the highest peak of “Before DVD”.You might think, “Is it meaningful even though it has been made into an official DVD?”, But this is a big ant. It’s true that the official DVD is better in terms of image quality, but that’s not the problem. After all, the official DVD not only remixes the audio, but also re-edits the video from scratch. It’s a completely different work. The difference is thorough. Normally, even though it is called “another angle”, some are replaced, but “DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER” becomes “this is the same show?” Even if two images are played back in sync, the same angle does not appear at all. I haven’t checked the whole story, but it’s so different that “Is the same cut in one place?”
Moreover, it is completely beyond the scope of “just another version”. On the official DVD, the complete version of “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” has only the intro of “Part 1”, and there are big differences in recording, but more than that is the image sense. The original version (this work) has a scent of the heyday of MTV, such as how to select angles, timing of cut splits, and video processing such as frame advance and fade composition. It’s like a long PV on a depression tour. On the other hand, the current DVD version is very modern. The scale of the stage and the youthfulness of the members are treated as “valuable records”.
To give one example, an image image projected on a huge circular screen. In the original version (this work), that circular screen is a highlight that surprises the world, and it is featured to show off its hugeness and skill of production. However, now that 30 years have passed, this kind of production is no longer a matter of course. It looks old enough to be proud. Therefore, in the current DVD, the cut of the image image is reduced as much as possible, and the performance cut of the members colored by the laser beam is often used. When showing an image image, the original material is projected on the entire screen as it is, instead of being inserted into the circular screen. 【現行のオフィシャルDVDとは完全に別物のオリジナル編集版】
ご存知の通り、この名作は長らく廃盤だったわけですが、2019年のBOXセット『THE LATER YEARS』の一部としてDVD化。さらに2020年には単独リリースも実現しました。本作は、そんな公式DVDのコピー。。。では、ありません。「DVD化以前」の最高峰である日本版レーザーディスクから精緻に復刻されたものなのです。
「公式DVD化されているのに意味ある？」と思われるかも知れませんが、これが大アリ。確かに画質的には公式DVDの方が優れているのですが、そういう問題ではない。何しろ、公式DVDは音声もリミックスしているだけでなく映像もイチから再編集。完全に別作品に仕上がっているのです。その違いぶりは徹底的。普通なら「別アングル」とは言っても幾つか差し替えられている程度ですが、『DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER』は「これ、同じショウ？」となるほど。２つの映像をシンクロ再生させても同じアングルがまったく現れない。全編くまなくチェックしたわけではありませんが、「同じカットが１ヶ所でもあるの？」というほどに違うのです。
しかも「単なる別バージョン」の域も完全に超えている。公式DVDでは完全版になった「Shine On You Crazy Diamond」が「Part 1」のイントロしかない等の収録違いも大きいのですが、それ以上なのが映像センス。オリジナル版（本作）はアングルの選び方も、カット割りのタイミングも、コマ送りやフェイド合成などの映像処理にも、いかにもMTV全盛時代な薫りがプンプン。言ってしまえば、鬱ツアーの長尺PVのようです。それに対し、現行DVD版は非常に現代的。ステージのスケール感やメンバーの若々しさを「貴重な記録」として扱っているのです。
１つ例を挙げますと、巨大な円形スクリーンに映し出されるイメージ映像。オリジナル版（本作）では、あの円形スクリーンは世界を驚かせる目玉であり、その巨大さ、演出の巧みさを見せびらかすようにフィーチュアされています。しかし、30年が経った今では、この程度の演出はもはや当たり前。自慢げに見せられるほど古臭く見えてしまう。そこで、現行DVDではイメージ映像のカットは極力減らし、レーザー光線に彩られたメンバーの演奏カットを多用。イメージ映像を見せる際にも、円形スクリーンにハメ込むのではなく、大元素材をそのまま画面いっぱいに映すのです。
【オリジナル版の史上最高峰である日本盤LDバージョン】
なんだかオリジナル版（本作）を貶しているような描き方になってしまいましたが、そうではありません。「古臭い」は「時代感」であり、「リアリズム」でもある。演奏そのものが発散している時代の薫りとシンクロ。例えば、スコット・ペイジのサックス・ソロも現行DVDでは後ろ姿や遠景を多用して渋くスタイリッシュに仕上げていますが、オリジナル版（本作）では変顔のドアップもお構いなしで熱い熱い。美しさ、カッコ良さでは現行DVDには及ばないにしても「あの時代の本物感」は間違いなく本作にこそ宿っているのです。
そんなオリジナル編集版を最高峰クオリティで保持しているのが日本盤レーザーディスク。本作は、そんな史上最高の映像美を精緻にデジタル化した１枚なのです。オフィシャルDVDが大きく改変しているからこそ光り輝くオリジナル編集の最高峰盤。どうぞ、ライヴアルバムの新名盤である本編プレス２CDと併せてたっぷりとご堪能ください。
