文献を紐解くと、最初にCDがプレスされた日本と西ドイツでは、その制作過程において、デジタル・トランスファーの際に、最もジェネレーションの若い、またはオリジナル・マスター・テープそのものが、コンプレッションを施さずに使用されていた、と言う事実が書かれています。このように、アナログレコードを製作する過程に似た、フラット・トランスファーの状態でCDが造られたというのがその理由であり、よってこの日本初版CDは、マスターテープそのもののピュアなサウンドが、未加工のまま聴ける唯一のCDということで、マニアにとっては垂涎の的になっているのです（ちなみに、「アニマルズ」に先駆けリリースされた「狂気」、「炎」などはエンファシスがかかった状態でリリースされてしまっていました）。後の公式盤で聴ける、コンプレッサーやリミッターで音圧を上げる処理が一切施されていないであろうことが一聴して分かるうえ、その澄み切った自然な音の響きは、実はこの日本盤1st Issue CDでしかCDフォーマットでは聴けないのです。この状態で聴けるのは、ディスクのマトリックスに「2DP-360」のカタログ番号に加え「11」と刻印された日本盤初回CDのみ（ジャケにディスクのスキャン写真を載せていますのでご確認ください）。正直、この「アニマルズ」を聴いてしまうと、おそらく現行のCDも含め今までリリースされた「ANIMALS」CD全てに音の違和感を感じてしまうことと思います。これはCD初期の29年前に、極短期間リリースされた、歴史上唯一無二の奇跡的一枚です！
