Wings in the analog era, 1976 Over America Tour The rare masterpiece “WINGS FROM THE WINGS” was a bootleg made by a woman named Andrea. She was a friend of Wizardo’s John Wizard, who was active at the same time, and when he saw him continue to release, he came up with a release himself and released it under the name of Vicki Vinyl, so to speak, the first time in history It was the birth of a female bootlegger. Earlier this year, John Wizard responded to an interview online, revealing once again how active he and Andrea were making releases.
The first label brand she used was Idle Mind Productions (IMP). Women’s illustrations are used on the label, which was also a proof of the label run by women, but “WINGS FROM THE WINGS” was selected as the first brand. It was an attractive item just to make a luxurious box set of three records, but after all, it was the 200th anniversary of the founding of the country in 1976, and the colors of the American flag were red and blue. , It was released in white colored vinyl.
Not only did it contain the latest tours of the Beatles members, but it was also a very attractive item, which made it a big bestseller. If you just put it in the box, the item already existed. However, in the case of Andrea, the sense of three-color vinyl to match the American flag is very feminine. And it is a famous story that the release of “WINGS FROM ~” and the big hit prompted the release of the official “OVER AMERICA”.

As expected, it has become a past item since its official appearance, and it is undeniable that it was finally overlooked when it entered the era of CDs. Although analog drop items including the “WINGS FROM ~” box package were released only once in the 90’s, there are also excessive equalizations that make the needle sound inconspicuous, which also attracts attention. It disappeared without.
Such a situation changed after the sound source of the same day recorded by Mike Millard appeared in the latter half of the 1990s. Since it is the same day as “WINGS FROM ~”, it is customary to release a mirrored sound source with the same jacket design and title. In this case, there are many enthusiasts who think that “WINGS FROM ~” used a mirrored sound source even in LP.
But it’s different. The sound source of the pure trader Millard appeared in the bootleg world long after the early 1980s, when the release of “LISTEN TO THIS, EDDIE” first. The sound source used for “WINGS FROM ~” is a completely different audience recording, and it is presumed that John Wizard recorded it for Andrea. Unlike TMOQ etc., the original source of the sound source recorded by John is not distributed among traders at all, and it is also true for this performance.

With this, I hope you understand that what is currently released in the title and package of “WINGS FROM THE WINGS” is not the original LP but a mirrored sound source, but regarding his recording Finally, a master cassette was unearthed, which was released last week as “LA FORUM 1976 1ST NIGHT” and is a big bestseller record.
Therefore, this time we are planning to release a CD version of “WINGS FROM THE WINGS” which is genuine in terms of packaging and contents. For that release, we compared both the original LP box and the version of Remasters Workshop, which was previously released as a free gift CD-R and became a tremendous bestseller. When I released it as a free gift CD-R at that time, the reason was that “the beginning of the song was missing due to trouble when uploading”, but of course I got a file without such a problem this time. I was surprised again that I was tracing the vintage LP boot very cleanly. So I decided to base it on the version of Remasters Workshop again.
In addition, the site that uploaded the Remasters Workshop file went down this fall, and it changed into a situation where it was difficult to obtain like a lie before. In that sense, it can be said that it is meaningful to make the Remasters Workshop version into a CD.

For this release, first of all, the pitch madness that was overlooked in the Remasters Workshop version was finely adjusted. Next, the cut in the song that was in the original LP was left as it was, but first of all, regarding the cut of the largest “I’ve Just Seen a Face”, we succeeded in supplementing the mirrored sound source and connecting it smoothly. I did. It was well received on the free gift CD-R last week, and there was a cut when it became the same song in “LA FORUM 1976 2ND NIGHT” which continues this week, but when recording the Over America tour, it is easy to hit the tape change. It was “I’ve Just ~”. In that respect, I was reminded of the greatness of Millard, who previewed the concert in San Diego and recorded June 23 uncut.
The beginning of “Listen To What The Man Said” was also supplemented with a mirrored sound source, but the skipping that occurred at 1:19 of “Blackbird” is dealt with by a different approach. Since this song is played by Paul alone, the simple performance is a disaster, and if you connect it to a mirrored sound source, you can not hide the discomfort of the sound quality. So I copied and supplemented the same lyrics part of the LP sound source, and the result was so beautiful that I couldn’t tell where the skips were. Speaking of copy editing, it is a technique that was often used in the Beatles star club (for example, “Ask Me Why”), so if you compare it to a similar approach, I wonder if enthusiasts will understand it.

And although it is the audience recording used for LP, of course it is not as close as the amazing sound image like a mirrored sound source. However, while the sound image there was too close and I felt unsatisfactory in some places, this one conveys the enthusiasm of the final day of the Over America tour more realistically. Still, there are no annoying customers, and the sense of distance of the performance is exquisite again. Besides, it has a warm sound quality. Old enthusiasts, an analog-like vintage audience in a good way, will enjoy it with nostalgia.
And … Whatever you say, listening through the LP three-disc box set is a bit annoying as an item (laughs). In that respect, this is a set of two CDs with minimal changes. The advantage of a CD that can be heard crisply is fully opened. And the package will have a horizontal yellow numbering sticker that is conscious of the original first press (will it turn red if the second edition comes out? Lol). In this way, the name board is also respected in terms of packaging. As mentioned in the jacket, this is the original “WINGS FROM THE WINGS”!

「Listen To What The Man Said」の冒頭にもミラード音源で補填しましたが、「Blackbird」の1:19で生じた音飛びに関しては違うアプローチで対処しています。

In commemoration of the CD reprint of the over-America tour masterpiece “WINGS FROM THE WINGS” produced by the United States, the first delivery of this title is the masterpiece “ROCK SHOW ’75” of the Wings 1975 tour produced by Japan. Comes with a reprint CD-R.
As you know, Wings was supposed to come to Japan in 1975, but it is a famous story that it was canceled at the last minute. Therefore, Paul side apologized for the cancellation of his visit to Japan, and the video and sound source of the Melbourne performance that was held just before was sent to Japan, and each was broadcast the following year.
Regarding the sound source, the sound board of Oomoto was released in the past as the masterpiece “FLY SOUTH SOUNDBOARD HIGHLIGHTS: ALTERNATE MONO MIX”, but the sound source recorded in the LP “ROCK SHOW ’75” is the same. However, the LP version is attractive for its analog sound quality that is unique to broadcasting at that time, and it is wonderful that it is transmitted deeply. At that time, the same sound source was released overseas under the title of “FLY SOUTH”, but the sound quality of “ROCK SHOW ’75” in Japan was overwhelming.
The label MARC that released this LP produced masterpieces such as Queen’s “INVITE YOU TO A NIGHT AT THE BUDOKAN” and ZEP “WHITE SUMMER”. Each of them has been highly evaluated by enthusiasts overseas, but the same is true for this “ROCK SHOW ’75”.
Also, unlike “FLY SOUTH SOUNDBOARD HIGHLIGHTS” which recorded the state of the main book in “Venus And Mars / Rock Show”, cheers are added at the moment when the performance changes to “Rock Show”, and it gives a sense of presence when broadcasting. You can see evidence of trying to make up for the scarcity. It can be said that this is a mix difference in a sense.

Such a masterpiece will be released as a bonus CD-R, but the LP is carefully recorded despite the bonus. Not only does it contain no scratch noise peculiar to analog, but it also adjusts the low pitch of the Melbourne part. I finished it as an item that even those who have a master feel easy to hear.
However, the rest of the B side after this title and the Melbourne sound source is a short documentary until the phantom Japanese performance fails, and in the voice of that person that everyone knows, “Wings will come to Japan. It was reported that “I did it!”, But after that, it was sad that “the release of the ticket was postponed” and eventually “it was unavoidable to cancel”. In every sense, it was a masterpiece of MARC that also had historical value that documented the situation of Japan and Wings at that time.
And the two CDs of this “WINGS FROM THE WINGS” are printed in red and blue. If you line up the white label of this bonus CD-R there, you can play that “three-color board” (laughs), though it’s just the board. If so, please get it for the first delivery, take them out of the tray, line up the boards, and enjoy it with nostalgia!

このLPを出したMARCというレーベルはクイーンの「INVITE YOU TO A NIGHT AT THE BUDOKAN」やZEP「WHITE SUMMER」といった名盤を輩出。
