ところが何ということでしょう、東京ドーム最終日のオーディエンス録音でダークホースが登場しました。それは当店が「ONE ON ONE at BUDOKAN」というタイトルでリリースしたオーディエンス録音のテーパーによるもの。つまり、ネット上に同録音を公開してくれたテーパーが東京ドーム三日も録音を敢行してくれたということ。国旗ジャケ・シリーズは当店独自入手音源でしたが、こちらは先のようなネットを介したものということになります。
そこまでだけでもマニアを納得させるには十分なのですが、今回の音源における最大の魅力は、何と言ってもソリッド、引き締まった低音なのです。ずっしりとしつつも膨らみ過ぎない低音。そうなるとベースラインの粒立ちの良さに現れるのです。例えば「Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!」などは元からポールのベースラインが押し出されたミキシングで会場に響き渡る曲ですが、この録音からは明瞭なベースラインの輪郭にうっとりさせられてしまうほど。オーディエンス録音でここまでベースラインをキャッチしてみせたとは…。

さらなるアドバンテージとしては音像が近いだけでなく、さらに演奏のディティールが聞き取れるという絶妙な状態も挙げられるでしょう。例えばこの日だけのスペシャルとなった「Get Back」においては、ポールのバックでコーラスを務める各メンバーの声もしっかりと聴き分けられてしまう。中でもエイブの低音ボイスが良く聴こえるところからも、今回の音源の別格な低音域の解像力の高さが際立ちます。
ただし「Get Back」では今回の音源のマイナス・ポイントも介在しており、コーラスの箇所では微妙に音像が揺れてしまうのです。これは大好きな曲に盛り上がって、思わずコーラスの箇所でノリノリになっていた証でしょう。逆に言えばその程度の粗しか見当たらないという、ウルトラ・クオリティのオーディエンス録音。感動の東京ドーム最終日の新たな魅力たっぷりな音源がリリースされます。だからこそ限定プレスCDは当たり前。これほどまでに見事な録音を残してくれたテーパーに感服!
