A performance in Japan with Joe Holmes, which was realized only once in the history of Ozzy. Introducing the world’s first public treasure recording that tells the scene.
The performance of “March 16, 1996: Nippon Budokan” was imbued with this work. It is the masterpiece audience recording. Holmes has been one of Ozzy’s arms for about five years, during which he visited Japan twice, in 1996 and 1998, but in the latter, Zack returned temporarily. I only came to Japan at Holmes & Ozzy in 1996. This work is a live album where you can experience such a valuable highlight performance in Japan. First, let’s look back on the one-time Ozzy & Holmes visit to Japan.

・ March 8: Nippon Budokan
・ March 10: Fukuoka Sun Palace
・ March 12: Osaka Castle Hall
・ March 13: Nagoya Century Hall
・ March 16: Nippon Budokan ← ★ This work ★

As mentioned above, all 5 performances starting from Nippon Budokan and returning to Budokan. What was recorded in this work was the concert on the final day. This work, which conveys such a scene, is a wonderful original recording with clearness. To be honest, the distance is reasonable, but the sound of the performance is clear because the atmosphere is transparent. “STOCKHOLM 1995 (Shades 1350)”, which will be released at the same time, was also an unusually clear name recording, but the point is that it also follows firmly to the deep bass while being clear without losing. Although the sharpness of the edge is given by that amount, the total thickness and dynamism are wonderful.
The thick sound is beautiful and easy to hear is the master freshness. After all, this work is digitized directly from the original cassette that was handed over directly from the recorder himself, so there are no dubbing marks. Perhaps because I wasn’t out of the gate, I couldn’t see any deterioration over time, and the glossy original sound jumped over time and space and blew out from the speakers. Moreover, this person is not just a person. A person who has recently begun to collect recordings from the 90’s, VAN HALEN’s “BUDOKAN 1995 1ST NIGHT (Shades 1344)” and YES’s “SHIBUYA 1998 2ND NIGHT (Amity 634)” are very popular. This work is the latest in its treasured collection. It is a masterpiece recording that is different in dimension from the amateur recordings of so many places, if not to say “this person’s masterpiece!”
And what is drawn with that clear and glossy sound is the precious full show of the Holmes era. The simultaneous release “STOCKHOLM 1995” was a single piece, but this is a two-disc set that exceeds 80 minutes. It’s also a simultaneous release, so let’s organize it while comparing.

● BLACK SABBATH era
・ Paranoid: Paranoid / Iron Man
・ Master of Reality: Sweet Leaf / Children Of The Grave
● Randy Rhoads era
・ Blizzard of Ozz: I Don’t Know / Goodbye To Romance / Suicide Solution / Mr. Crowley / Crazy Train
Diary of a Madman: Flying High Again
● Jake E. Lee era
・ Bark At The Moon
● Zakk Wylde era
・ No More Tears: I Don’t Want To Change The World / Mama I’m Coming Home
・ Osmosis: I Just Want You (★)
* Note: “★” marks are songs that cannot be heard in the simultaneous release “STOCKHOLM 1995”.

… And it looks like this. Although the set is almost the same, the new song “I Just Want You” of “OZZMOSIS” is also added probably because the tour has progressed. As a matter of fact, he also played “Perry Mason” from the first day of his arrival in Japan to Osaka, but unfortunately it wasn’t on the last day. Also, when the performance starts, it’s something that you can’t understand from the song. During this period, Ozzy played a humorous mini-movie at the opening, where he starred in the Addams Family with CG synthesis, co-starring with Presley, Madonna, and The Beatles. Of course, you can’t see the movie in this live album, but you can clearly see that the venue is laughing. If you have experienced the show at that time, that image may come back to your mind.
Ozzy in 1996 who turned over the retirement declaration and entertained with a reopened show that just said “So what happened”. If the combination of Joe Holmes is also valuable, it is a live album that makes you miss the atmosphere of that era. The second retirement tour “ NO MORE TOURS II” that was supposed to be realized in 2019 is poshing, and now that the corona wreck is about to pass, attention is being paid to whether Ozzy will continue to be active or retire. I will. If you come to Japan again, it will be the same space of joy as this work. A new excavation that makes you want to pray for such a future. Please enjoy it carefully.

★ Excellent audience recording of the Joe Holmes era “March 16, 1996: Nippon Budokan” performance. The original recording only for this work, which will be released for the first time in the world, is wonderfully clear. Although there is a distance, the performance sound is clear to the details because the atmosphere is transparent. It is a famous recording in which the glossy original sound jumps over space-time and blows out from the speaker. You can fully enjoy the masterpieces dyed by Holmes, and also show off the precious “I Just Want You”. Officially, it is a 2-disc set where you can enjoy the true value of Holmes, who left only a few takes.

●BLACK SABBATH
Paranoid/Iron Man
Sweet Leaf/Children Of The Grave
I Don’t Know/Goodbye To Romance/Suicide Solution/Mr. Crowley/Crazy Train

I Just Want You(★)
