これが現在までに公表されているツアー・スケジュール。当店では傑作映像『RUSSIA 2018(Shades 930)』やJUDAS PRIESTとのカップリング盤『GRASPOP METAL MEETING 2018(Shades 965)』といった名作でツアーをレポートしてきましたが、それらは「欧州#1」の記録。それに対し、本作は一歩進んだ「北米#2」。すでに今年の全公演が終了しており、マニア間ではベスト録音の選定中。本作は、その王者候補No.1と目されている極上録音なのです(ちなみに、本来「北米#2」は全21公演が予定されていました。ところが、オジーが手を負傷し、さらにその怪我から感染症を起こしたために入院。ツアーは中断となり、振り替え日程が「北米#3」として組まれました)。
実際、本作のクオリティは驚異的。開演シーンではオーディエンス録音らしい広大な熱狂が吹き上がるのですが、その中を割って入るオジーの一言「Are you fuckin’ doing?」が猛烈にオン。あまりにダイレクト……と言いますか、完全に距離感ゼロで密着した声は「えっ!? サウンドボードだった?」とびっくり。そして演奏が始まるや二度びっくり。ザック・ワイルドのギターも超極太なら、タイトなリズム隊も超詳細。普通、どんなにサウンドボードっぽい録音ではあってもスネアやバスドラの鳴りにオーディエンスっぽさがあるものですが、本作はそれさえもない。曲間・演奏中にも盛大な喝采が聞こえるものの、それも超極太な演奏や歌声の遙か彼方に感じられ、まるで精緻にミックスされたFM放送のようなバランス。録音者本院が公開しただけに間違いなくオーディエンス録音のハズ……なのですが……。二度聴き・三度聴きしてもなお、未だに信じられない。激しくFMサウンドボード的な極上録音なのです。
そのクオリティで描かれるのは、オジー自身が最後と決めた超ベスト・セット。これまでの名作群でも触れましたが、超代表曲がズラッと並んだグレイテスト・ヒッツに見えて、それだけではない。サバスの『PARANOID』、ランディとの『BLIZZARD OF OZZ』、ザックとの『NO MORE TEARS』に特化。この3枚を濃縮したセットに、ジェイク時代の「Bark At The Moon」「Shot In The Dark」を追加しているだけなのです。明らかにオジーはこの3枚を特別に考えており、実際この3枚からだけで“グレイテスト・ヒッツ”と思わせてしまうほど豪華。意識的にしろ無意識にしろ、このセットをオジーが人生最後のツアーに選んだ。彼の音楽人生のハイライトがどこだったのがハッキリと分かるのです。
そんな人生のショウに幅を与えているのがザックお気に入りの「War Pigs」から雪崩れ込むギターソロ・タイム。弾きまくりのソロはもちろんのこと、リズム隊も入れたジャムスタイルで「Miracle Man」「Crazy Babies」「Desire」「Perry Mason」が披露される。ここはオジー不在のインストということもあり、ザックの「他にも良い曲書いてきただろ?」というメッセージが聞こえてくるようなセレクトです。そして、そんなザックの思い入れを確信するのは猛烈な弾きっぷり。往年と寸分変わらぬ……と言いますか、それ以上の見事な暴れギターを聴かせてくれる。今年は奇しくも『NO REST FOR THE WICKED』30周年にあたるわけですが、その長い付き合いを濃縮してぶつけるようなギターが凄い。今回のツアーはオジーの音楽人生にとって大きな節目になるわけですが、ザックにとってもそれは同じ事。ラスト・ツアーの相棒がザックで本当に良かった……そんな感慨さえも湧いてくる大熱演なのです。

JUDAS PRIESTとは異なり、セットが変動していない“NO MORE TOURS 2” 。来る最後の日本公演も同じセットになる可能性大です。それだけに予習盤の選択は“音の良さ”にかかってくるわけですが、その意味で本作こそ最高傑作。次のショウは2019年になりますので、今年いっぱい聴き込むには、本作以上のライヴアルバムはないでしょう。最新のライヴアルバムというだけでなく、“NO MORE TOURS 2”の初体験にも最適の激サウンドボード的1本。どうぞ、じっくりとお楽しみください!
