About four months after Randy Rhoad’s sudden death, Ozzy Osbourne made his first visit to Japan with Brad Gillis. Introducing a shocking original recording that conveys the scene.
“July 15, 1982: Nakano Sunplaza performance” is engraved in this work. It is the best audience recording. Speaking of Ozzy’s first visit to Japan, Nakano’s masterpiece “BLOODY DIARY (Calm & Storm 003)” recorded by Miracle Man is a big staple, but this work is a separate performance. First, let’s look back at the schedule at that time and check the position of the show.

・ July 9: Osaka Festival Hall
・ July 11: Nagoya City Assembly Hall
・ July 13: Kyoto Kaikan
・ July 14: Nakano Sunplaza ← * “BLOODY DIARY”
・ July 15: Nakano Sunplaza ← ★ This work ★

Above, all 5 performances. Two performances at Nakano Sunplaza were organized in Tokyo, and this work was the final day of the concert. As a matter of fact, the recording of the first visit to Japan is concentrated on the last day, and the big set “FACING OZZY (Shades 398)” of 3 sound sources is a big standard in our shop. However, this work is a first appearance recording that is completely different from those sound sources. It is also the highest peak update version.
The great thing about this work is the thick core. The recording position is “1st floor, 3rd row, 28th”, although it is the original master only for this work that was handed over to the recording person himself. It’s already a special seat just a few meters away from Ozzy, who is rampaging on the stage. Of course, the sound quality near the front is not always the highest, but this work has the full taste of the upcoming seats. The PA sound output before the sound is diffused is directly picked up, and there is almost no wraparound. Strictly speaking, Brad Gillis’s guitar is more vivid than Ozzy’s vocals, probably because it is a few seats to the right of the centered center, but in any case, all the playing sounds are beautifully separated and can be enjoyed subtly. (The bass of the on-site PA is tight until the beginning “Over The Mountain”, but it improves sharply from the middle).
The seats are amazing, but that’s not the only key to the best sound. I’m sure many of you have already come to this point, but this work has jumped out of the much-talked-about master collection. A person who was praised by THE POLICE and WHITESNAKE as “more than official” and “Mike Millard of Japan”, and was found to be a master who actually worked on the historical legendary board by Jeff Beck’s Yokohama recording. This week, the reunion DEEP PURPLE and MSG’s Super Rock will be released at the same time, but such a master was also recording Ozzy.
The vivid and lustrous superb sound is drawn at the site of Ozzy’s first visit to the precious full show of the Blood era. Speaking of live performances in the Blood era, the official video “SPEAK OF THE DEVIL” is a symbol, so let’s organize them while comparing them.

● Blizzard of Ozz (8 songs)
・ Mr. Crowley / Crazy Train / Revelation (Mother Earth) / Steal Away (The Night) / Suicide Solution / Goodbye To Romance / I Don’t Know / No Bone Movies (★)
● Others (6 songs)
・ Diary of Madman (3 songs) Over The Mountain / Believer / Flying High Again
・ Black Sabbath (3 songs) Iron Man / Children Of The Grave / Paranoid
* Note: The “★” mark is a song that cannot be heard in the official video “SPEAK OF THE DEVIL”.

… And it looks like this. “SPEAK OF THE DEVIL” has a live album version of all songs Sabas and a video version of the regular set, but since the first visit to Japan is part of the “DIARY OF A MADMAN Tour”, it is close to the video version. However, it is not exactly the same, and “No Bone Movies” is also shown. This is a song that cannot be heard even on the masterpiece sound board “SPEAK EVIL OF OZZ (Shades 509)” performed in Memphis (= a song that does not have a sound board in the Blood era), and as a result, “BLIZZARD OF OZZ” other than “Dee” It covers all songs. In other words, it is a live album that can be enjoyed as “Blood version Blizzard”.
Ozzy Osbourne’s first visit to Japan did not come true at BLACK SABBATH. It is a marvelous new excavation live album where you can fully experience the historic site with the finest master sound. Compared to the general system, there are few transcendental recordings of HR / HM relations in the 1980s, but this master recorded WHITESNAKE, DEEP PURPLE, MSG, and even Ozzy. I wonder what kind of new metal excavation will come out in the future … A two-disc set that is likely to swell and burst with such expectations spreading. Please experience it with Permanent Preservation Press 2CD!

It is a live album that is fun to listen to as “BLIZZARD OF OZZ for Brad Gillis”.

Over The Mountain/Believer/Flying High Again
Iron Man/Children Of The Grave/Paranoid
