Includes a TV program that Oasis appeared one month before the first performance in Japan. Oasis, which was still a rookie band at this point, had a live performance at the Astoria Theater in the evening, and appeared on the MTV UK branch program “MOST WANTED” in the afternoon. It wasn’t just a TV appearance, but Bournehead, except for the Gallagher brothers, he was in charge of the keyboard instead of the guitar, and Noel was an acoustic guitar in a completely unplugged style.
It was a valuable formation by itself, but here it became a legendary appearance by showing off the new song “Whatever” four months before the release. The simple unplugged performance was wonderful, and since the audio was also a sound board in the TV broadcast, it became a regular sound source that is absolutely indispensable for the acoustic compilation of Oasis.
Actually, the fact that “Whatever” was recorded at the beginning of the first disc of “LITTLE JAMES (THE ULTIMATE ACOUSTIC COLLECTION)” whose remastered version was just released the other day shows that it is a popular performance. In addition to that, the performance before the release of the song further enhances the value.
Since it is a TV broadcast, it is a video that can be easily seen on YouTube, but this time it is not a diversion from there, but a DVD-R from the version that was previously on the net, so you can see it on YouTube. The point is that the image quality is sharper than any version. Of course, it was a VHS recording in the mid 90’s, so it’s not a master quality, but it’s definitely better than the version seen on YouTube and the condition is natural.
Also, not only the performance scenes of the two songs but the entire program is recorded, so it is interesting to convey the atmosphere at that time. Looking at it in this way, the program itself is nothing but love, and it would be okay to skip the MC of Onesan, the moderator who appears before and after the performance of Oasis, during playback (laughs). I was made to appear on such a program because it was less than half a year since I made my debut.
It was interesting because it was a performance by a valuable acoustic trio, and the song before the release was a miracle appearance that was shown on TV. It seems that many enthusiasts are accustomed to listening to the performances of these two songs in the acoustic compilation of Oasis, but the images in good condition are surprisingly rare. It is a valuable gift CD-R that captures the appearance of “Whatever”, which is extremely popular in Japan!
