Despite being the most important part of the live footage of Oasis in 1995, it must be said that the current situation is terrible. This DVD-R is the one that throws a stone in such a situation in a way unique to Japan, and contains the version broadcast in Japan in March 1996 when the popularity of oasis began to explode.
Originally, the live video of Glastonbury 95 did not broadcast all the songs of the day, and in addition, “Cigarettes And Alcohol” was cut in the Japanese broadcast version, but the image quality is not comparable to the version on YouTube. Clearness. As a matter of fact, this Japanese broadcast version was very useful among overseas enthusiasts, and it was even adopted in the pseudo-complete version net release “BONE HEAD’S BIRTHDAY PARTY” that combines TV broadcasting and the audience shot video of the day.
However, the version used there had poor image quality at the stage of crossing the sea (= dubbing), which was disappointing for Japanese people. However, this time we are releasing a direct DVD-R from the master VHS that recorded the broadcast at that time, so compare it with each version seen on YouTube and the part adopted in “BONE HEAD’S BIRTHDAY PARTY” It is a level that does not become, and of course the sound is stereo.

And the bonus includes live footage of the oasis at Glastonbury the previous year. This was also an incomplete broadcast of only three songs in 1994, but it is a complete version newly broadcast by the BBC in the sense of looking back on Glastonbury, which was canceled due to the corona whirlpool last year. Not only was all the songs finally broadcast, but the image quality was perfect because it was broadcast last year. Even if it is officially released as it is, it is at a level comparable to that.
The image quality is so clear that the looks of each member who haven’t been refined for more than 95 years (laughs), for example, when it comes to close-ups, you can see the treatment marks of Liam’s teeth and Tony McCarroll’s blue eyes.
In addition, it’s only been two months since he made his debut, so it’s funny that the unevenness of the skill level is highlighted by the song. “Digsy’s Dinner” and “Bring It On Down” have a fairly cohesive performance, but it’s also funny that the other songs lack cohesiveness and momentum. オアシスのライブ史上における稀代の名演である1995年グラストンベリー・フェスティバル。ラジオとテレビでの放送も実現してマテリアル的にも恵まれたライブなのですが、その割に現在YouTube上で見られる映像は状態の悪いものばかり。95年オアシスのライブ映像における最重要な存在であるにもかかわらず、その現状は由々しき事態だと言わざるを得ません。こうした状況に我が国ならではの方法で一石を投じるのが今回のDVD-Rで、オアシスの人気が爆発し始めた96年の3月に日本で放送されたバージョンを収録。
元々グラストンベリー95のライブ映像は当日の全曲が放送された訳ではなく、それに加えて日本放送版では「Cigarettes And Alcohol」がカットされていたのですが、画質はYouTube上のバージョンとは比較にならないクリアーさ。実のところ、この日本放送版は海外マニアの間でも重宝された存在で、テレビ放送と当日のオーディエンスショット映像を組み合わせた疑似完全版ネットリリース「BONEHEAD’S BIRTHDAY PARTY」にも採用されたほどでした。
ところがそちらに使われたバージョンは海を渡った段階（＝ダビング）で画質が落ちており、日本人からすると残念なものだったという。ところが今回リリースするのは当時の放送を録画したマスターVHSからダイレクトなDVD-R化を実現していますので、先のYouTubeで見られた各バージョンや「BONEHEAD’S BIRTHDAY PARTY」に採用されたパートと比較にならないレベルであり、もちろん音声はステレオ。

この日はリアムのパーカー姿が非常に印象的であった一方、ノエルのダッフルコートを着てギターを弾く姿の垢抜けなさなど、人気が急上昇しつつもまだ大物化していない時期ならではの容姿が捉えられている点でも貴重でしょう。それに「Some Might Say」のイントロ中に舞台袖にいる人物にハグしに行くリアム、前年のグラストンベリーに続いて自身に迫るカメラがあり、それが煩わしくてカメラに愛想を一切売らないノエルなど、名演というだけにとどまらない面白い場面が続出。
最初に触れたように日本放送時は「Cigarettes And Alcohol」がカットされてしまった訳ですが、それを補って余りある貴重映像が最後に流される二度目の来日公演から恵比寿での「Supersonic」。こちらの局は恵比寿で同曲と「Hello」を撮影しており、それぞれのシーンが折に触れて放送されていたもの。この時は「Supersonic」で、何よりオアシス二度目の来日公演を捉えた数少ないプロショット映像として非常に価値の高いもの。
そして合間には当時の時点でのオアシスを振り返るコーナーがあり、最新シングルがかの「Don’t Look Back In Anger」だったという点が当時を偲ばせてくれて貴重。それに音楽番組で盛んに放送された95年アールズコート初日からの切り売りライブ映像「Wonderwall」が流されるのがまた当時ならでは。

そしてボーナスには前年のグラストンベリーでのオアシスのライブ映像を収録。こちらも94年当時は3曲のみの不完全放送だったのですが、昨年コロナ渦によって開催中止となったグラストンベリーを振り返る意味でBBCが新たに放送した完全版。遂に全曲が放送されたというだけでなく、昨年の放送ですので画質は完璧。このままオフィシャル・リリースされても遜色ないレベル。
あまりに画質が鮮明ですので、95年以上に垢抜けない各メンバーのルックス（笑）、例えばクローズアップになるとリアムの歯の治療跡やトニー・マッキャロルの青い瞳までばっちり見えてしまいます。
おまけにデビューしてまだ二か月ということもあり、曲によって練度のムラが浮き彫りになっているのも微笑ましい。「Digsy’s Dinner」と「Bring It On Down」ではかなりまとまりのある演奏が聞かれますが、他の曲になるとまとまりと勢いが足りないのがまた微笑ましい。結果として初々しい94年と王者の風格が漂いはじめた95年それぞれのグラストンベリー映像がベスト・クオリティで収録された最強カップリングとなりました！
