In the early 1990s, the influence of radio still remained in Britain, and radio was the first to challenge the recording for broadcasting for the first time in the performance of the oasis before its debut. It was also a time when demo recordings for the first album were already being done, and it was the timing when the door to success was opened for the band.
Oasis has recorded four songs for this appearance (broadcast since 1994), but all of them were later included in the first album “DEFINITELY MAYBE”.

“Bring It On Down” is still lacking in strength, and it seems that the band has not been fully developed. Tony McCarroll’s drums (though I don’t think they’re actually as bad as they say), which are often said to be skillful, are really poor these days.
Also, “Cigarettes & Alcohol” etc. have a slower tempo than the version after their debut, which makes it funny that T. Rex’s “Get It On” style, which was the original story, has become stronger.
On the other hand, “Shakermaker” already has the world view of the first album, and the trademark Liam’s characteristic song is clear. It is a performance that is enough to foresee the greatness of the future. And “Up In The Sky” is an acoustic version close to the arrangement of the 20th anniversary edition of “DEFINITELY MAYBE”, but here it is a real vocal and his voice is a double track.

Therefore, it is hard to say that it is a pure studio live, but it is a valuable sound source that captures the oasis before 1994 that raised the signal smoke of Britpop, and it is also a high point that it is recorded in the best stereo.
Therefore, it is one of the radio sound sources that was preferred in the compilation of the early sound sources of Oasis, but some of the ones released in the rear tie had a low pitch and rough sound quality. After that, a version with improved sound quality has been released, but this time it is recorded from the version rebroadcast in 2008 when their last album “DIG OUT YOUR SOUL” was released, so the sound quality is the official itself. Although the recording time is only 4 songs and less than 20 minutes, it is a literally high quality gift containing the precious sound source of the early oasis!

1990年初頭のイギリスはまだまだラジオの影響力が残っており、デビュー前のオアシスの演奏が初めて放送用の収録に挑んだのもラジオが最初。それが実現したのがほぼ30年前のちょうど今頃。既にファースト・アルバムに向けてのデモ録りなどが行われていた時期でもあり、バンドからすれば成功への扉が開かれたタイミング。
この出演用にオアシスは四曲を録音（放送は1994年を迎えてから）していますが、それらはどれも後にファースト・アルバム「DEFINITELY MAYBE」に収められたものばかり。

とはいえ先のようなアルバム用のデモを録音していた時期であった上、バンドのライブの本数も決して多くなかった時期。それ故に演奏の出来にムラがあるところが駆け出しのバンドらしいところ。
「Bring It On Down」はまだまだ力強さが足らず、バンドとして練り切れてない感がありありと伝わってきます。何かと技量がとやかく言われがちなトニー・マッキャロルのドラム（実際には言われるほど悪くないと思いますが）もさすがにこの頃は拙い。
また「Cigarettes & Alcohol」などはデビュー後のバージョンと比べてテンポが遅く、そのせいで元ネタとなったT・レックスの「Get It On」っぽさが強まっているのが微笑ましい。
一方「Shakermaker」は既にファースト・アルバムの世界観を漂わせており、トレードマークとなったリアムの特徴的な歌いっぷり冴えわたっている。そこは後の偉大さを予見させるに十分な演奏となっています。そして「Up In The Sky」は「DEFINITELY MAYBE」20周年記念盤のアレンジに近いアコースティック・バージョンですが、ここではリアム・ボーカルな上に彼の声がダブルトラックという凝った仕上がり。

よって純然たるスタジオライブとは言い難いのですが、ブリットポップの狼煙を上げた1994年以前のオアシスを捉えた貴重音源であり、なおかつ最高のステレオで収録されているのもポイントが高い。
それ故オアシスの初期音源ものコンピレーションでは好んで選ばれていたラジオ音源の一つでもあるのですが、リアタイでリリースされたのもの中にはピッチが低くて音質が荒いといったバージョンもあった。その後より音質の向上されたバージョンがリリースされてもいますが、今回は彼らのラスト・アルバム「DIG OUT YOUR SOUL」リリース時の2008年に再放送されたバージョンから収録されているので音質はオフィシャルそのものといえるハイクオリティ。
わずか四曲かつ20分に満たない収録時間ではありますが、初期オアシスの貴重音源を収めた文字通りのハイクオリティ・ギフトです！
