Oasisおよびノエル・ギャラガーの専門レーベルBayswaterの最新作は、2015年セカンド・アルバム『Chasing Yesterday』をリリースし、それに伴うツアーを開始したノエル・ギャラガーのソロ・プロジェクトNoel Gallagher’s High Flying Birdsの最新サウンドボード音源です。ツアー開始後16日後に当たる、2015年3月19日ドイツはデュッセルドルフ公演を、この公演で2種あるサウンドボードのうち、曲間を埋め尽くすナレーションの「入らない方の」サウンドボード音源を丁寧にリマスター＆トリートメントしたもので収録しています。

アルバム『Chasing Yesterday』は前作以上にバンド感を打ち出した作風ながら、実際にはOasis時代からツアーやレコーディングに参加しているポール・ステイシー、マイク・ロウ、前作および前作に伴うツアーに参加したポール・ステイシーの弟ジェレミー・ステイシーと一部の外部ミュージシャンのみで製作されており、レコーディングとツアーとは別物として考えられているようなところがあります。ツアー・メンバーは、前回とツアーと同様で、前述のマイク・ロウ(キーボード)、ジェレミー・ステイシー(ドラム)に加え、ラッセル・プリチャード(ベース)、ティム・スミス(ギター)という構成。

オープニングは「In The Heat Of The Moment」のB面、アルバムではCDのDX版ボーナス・ディスクに収録されている「Do The Damage」。その後は、最新作、前作、Oasis時代のナンバーがほぼ同じパーセンテージで配された理想的なセットリスト。序盤は間髪入れず立て続けに演奏し、中盤に入る当たりからMCを入れ始めるのがノエル兄貴のスタイル。「Magic Pie」「Live Forever」「Wonderwall」「Talk Tonight」等、Oasisナンバーへのリクエストが飛んでいますが大きな声の「Talk Tonight」に反応し“「Talk Tonight」？お前、前回のツアー来たか？”“はい”“前回やったろ。やるなら次回かな”と余裕の対応。ここからも垣間見えるように、Oasisナンバーに関しては、前回のツアーでも演奏したのは「Don’t Look Back In Anger」のみ、それもOasisの最晩年のアレンジに戻して、“前回と同じ”を極力避けているのがわかります。

そんな中でOasisナンバーのハイライトは「Champagne Supernova」でしょう。エレクトリックはティム・スミスに任せ、アレンジを変えることで、この曲の新たな魅力を引き出すことに成功していると言えるでしょう。このデュッセルドルフ公演では、感動的な「If I Had a Gun…」で本編が終了すると、客席から「Don’t Look Back In Anger」の合唱が起こるというオーディエンスの熱きゲルマン魂を感じることが出来ます。 そこに「Don’t Look Back In Anger」を投下し、「AKA…What A Life!」でもう一度盛り上げてから「The Masterplan」で締めるという、終盤の熱のこもった演奏には素晴らしいものがあります。全体的にはやはりこのラインナップで数多く演奏している前作のナンバーが最もこなれており聴き応え充分ですが、今後ツアーが進むにつれて、演奏が全体的にキマってくるのは明白で、そういった意味でこのツアー最初期のサウンドボード音源は貴重な瞬間を捉えています。

そして、本作の大きなポイントはボーナストラック。Bayswaterのファンのためにボーナスだけでも1タイトルとして成立してしまうような内容で、収録時間ギリギリまで収録しています。まず、今回のツアーでも演奏されている未発表曲「Alone OnThe Rope」を2013年のRAH公演からサウンドボードで収録。続く「Ballad Of TheMighty I」はスタジオ・ライヴ。アルバムにおけるジョニー・マーのナイル・ロジャース的なフレーズが全てコード弾きに置きかえられているのはご愛嬌。そして今回のツアーから先述の「Alone On The Rope」、2002年のシングル「Stop Crying Your HeartOut」のカップリングから、隠れた名曲「Shout It Out Loud」、そしてジョニー・マーが客演した「Ballad Of The Mighty I」をオーディエンス録音で収録。「The Dying OfThe Light」はマイク・ロウのピアノのみを従えた美しい弾き語り。ここからの「AKA… Broken Arrow」「AKA… What a Life!」「Everybody’s on the Run」「IfI Had a Gun…」の4曲の弾き語りも同じくマイク・ロウのキーボードとの弾き語りですが、素晴らしいの一言。特に「AKA… Broken Arrow」「Everybody’s on the Run」は筆舌に尽くしがたい出色の出来。もう一度「The Dying Of The Light」の弾き語りを挟み、最後はアルバム『Chasing Yesterday』に関わりの深いOasisのデビュー前、そしてOasis時代のデモ音源3連発。Bayswaterから『The Burnage Yaers』がリリースされた後に出回ったデビュー前のデモから「Setting Sun」「Lock AllThe Doors」のプロトタイプ(インタビューで語られているノエルの記憶には若干の綻びが・・・？！)。もちろん、ヴォーカルはリアム。最後は「Ballad Of TheMighty I」のB面、アルバムではCDのDX版ボーナス・ディスクに収録されている「Revolution Song」の99年のヴァージョン。15年目の到達点であるリリース・ヴァージョンを聴いて涙した旧来のファンはこのヴァージョンを重ねていたのだ。。。。。　15年後も皆様のファースト・チョイスであり続けたいBayswaterの最新作。ジャケットは厚型コーティング光沢高級紙を使用。今回も宝物のようなタイトルになっています。美麗ピクチャー・ディスク仕様の永久保存がっちりプレス盤です！！！！Bayswaterはノエルのソロ活動を応援しています。
