Muddy Waters, who, along with Howlin’Wolf, was a big boss of the Chicago blues and had a great influence on the later rock generation, is the sound source of the live that led his own blues band. The Muddy Waters blues band is like a prestigious university in the blues world, and there are countless big blues men who have graduated from here. James Cotton, Otis Spann, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and more. Recorded here is a live show in 1975, close to the members who appeared in The Band’s “Last Waltz”. Bob Margolin and others who joined the band and supported the late Maddy, which is rare as a white man, are listed because of their skill such as Pinetop Perkins and Willie Smith. The sound quality is recorded by the audience, but it was recorded very well. In the first place, the live performance of the blues is the biggest spice of the heat of the venue, the audience recording is the best to convey it, and the sound source recorded on the sound board in front of the audience who is clever in the big hall is the lion of the zoo.

ハウリン・ウルフと並びシカゴ・ブルースの大ボスとして後のロック世代にも多大な影響を与えたマディー・ウォーターズが、自身のブルース・バンドを率いて行ったライヴの音源です。マディ・ウォーターズ・ブルース・バンドと言えばブルース界の名門大学のようなもので、ここを卒業した大物ブルース・マンは数知れません。ジェームズ・コットン、オーティス・スパン、バディ・ガイ、ジュニア・ウェルズなどなどなど。ここに収録されているのは1975年のライヴで、ザ・バンドの『ラスト・ワルツ』に出演した際のメンバーに近いもの。パイントップ・パーキンスやウィリー・スミスといった腕利きから、白人として珍しくバンドに加わり後期マディを支えたボブ・マーゴリンらが名を連ねています。音質はオーディエンス収録ですが非常に良く録れたものです。そもそもブルースのライヴたるは会場の熱気こそ最大のスパイス、それを伝えるのにオーディエンス録音は最適であり、大きなホールでかしこまった観客を前にサウンドボード収録された音源など動物園のライオンなのです。
