From the “Chipeva Valley Rock Fest” held in Cadott, Wisconsin in 2013, the final day, July 21, the climax of the MOTLEY CRUE and WHITESNAKE stages will be released for the first time. Recorded with a high-quality audience master! Like the July 20th sound source “ROCK FEST 2013” (KISS, MEGADETH, SLASH appearance) that appeared the other day, this is a 4-disc set that is a must-listen for hard rock / heavy metal fans.

“Chipeva Valley Rock Festival”, which is a “summer tradition” in Cadott, Wisconsin. 2013 was held for 4 days from July 18th to 21st. Many bands and artists performed enthusiastically this time as well, and the venue was filled with the enthusiasm of the fans every day.
On July 20th, which is the third day, KISS, who carried the new album, will be the headliner, and big bands such as MEGADETH and SLASH will also appear. A gorgeous lineup colored the stage. “ROCK FEST 2013” (Shades-567), which packaged the third day of this festival with an excellent master who is not available anywhere in the world, became a big topic among metal enthusiasts immediately after its release.
This time, even at the special festival, the final day, July 21st, which pleased more rock fans, was made into a vinyl record! Similar to the recording on the 20th, this work directly uses the original audience master provided by the Japanese taper who experienced the live in the field (this recording is, of course, not known at all among the net and traders). WHITESNAKE has a vivid memory of the performance that was held in Japan the other day for MOTLEY CRUE, who acted as a big bird at the festival. Discs 1 and 2 completely record the stage of WHITESNAKE, which appeared as the semi-final on the final day, for about 82 minutes.
This year is just the 35th anniversary of the band’s debut. David Coverdale, who dubbed this year “Year Of The Snake,” is doing a lot of work, including announcing various official live releases and conducting large-scale world tours.
The band will battle with the UK and Europe tours after the performance in Japan in May. After that, we toured the United States with a total of 26 performances, from the performance in Newkirk, Oklahoma on July 12th to the performance in Kennewick, Washington on August 23rd. The “Rock Fest” of this work is the 7th performance of the North American tour.
The live started from “Give Me All Your Love” as in Japan. As you can see from David’s cry “Are you ready!”, The band’s musical tone is very on. You can enjoy the performance with a dynamic sound that explodes close to the listener.

And on discs 3 and 4, you can enjoy the live performance of MOTLEY CRUE, which marked the end of the festival, with a full set of 95 minutes.
Similar to the previous WHITESNAKE, this also recorded a live performance with wonderful sound brightness and a direct feeling. You can enjoy the energetic performances unique to MOTLEY CRUE and the vividly colored songs that are even poisonous, with the air of the festival venue and the realistic sound.

ウィスコンシン州カドットでは”夏の風物詩”的な存在である”チペワバレー・ロック・フェス”。2013年は７月18日から21日まで４日間の日程で開催されました。今回も多くのバンドやアーティストが熱演を繰り広げ、会場は連日、ファンの熱気に包まれました。
その３日目にあたる７月20日は、新作アルバムを引っ提げたKISSをヘッドライナーとして、さらにMEGADETHやSLASHといった大物バンドも登場。豪華ラインナップがステージを彩りました。このフェス３日目を、世界のどこにも出回っていない優秀なマスターでパッケージした「ROCK FEST 2013」（Shades-567）は、リリース直後からメタル・マニアの間で大きな話題となりました。
今回はその特別なフェスティバルでも、より多くのロック・ファンを喜ばせた最終日・７月21日の模様を音盤化！　本作も20日の録音と同じく、現地でライヴを体験した日本人テーパー提供のオリジナル・オーディエンス・マスターをダイレクト使用（本録音も当然ながら、ネットやトレーダー間でも一切知られていません）。フェスの大トリを務めたMOTLEY CRUEに、先日行われた来日公演の記憶も鮮やかなWHITESNAKE。２大バンドのゴージャスでビッグなパフォーマンスを、ディスク４枚・合計177分のボリュームと極上音質で満喫させます！

ディスク１・２では、最終日のセミファイナルとして出演したWHITESNAKEのステージを、約82分間に渡りコンプリート収録しています。
今年はバンドのデビューからちょうど35周年。本年を”Year Of The Snake”と銘打ったデイヴィッド・カヴァデールは、各種の公式ライヴ作品の発表や大規模なワールドツアーの実行など、非常に精力的な活動を見せています。
バンドは５月の来日公演終了後は、イギリスそしてヨーロッパツアーと転戦。その後７月12日のオクラホマ州ニューカーク公演から８月23日のワシントン州ケネウィック公演まで、全26公演のアメリカツアーを行いました。本作の”ロック・フェスト”は、その北米ツアー７公演目に当たります。
ライヴは日本と同じく「Give Me All Your Love」からスタート。開演を告げるデイヴィッドの”Are you ready!”という叫びでも判るように、バンドの楽音が非常にオン。聴き手の間近で炸裂するようなダイナミック・サウンドで演奏を満喫できます。
最近のライヴでは指摘される事が多いカヴァデールのヴォーカルも、本ライヴでは充分以上の迫力と相変わらずの表現力で聴き手を魅了します。深みのある声を聴かせる「Ready An’ Willing」や「Is This Love」は彼ならでは。ダグ・アルドリッチとレブ・ビーチのコンビネーションも素晴らしいツインリードで、「Can You Hear The Wind Blow」と「Don’t Break My Heart Again」のメドレーや、「Gambler」・「Love Will Set You Free」ではスリリングなギター・プレイを楽しませます。今年のツアーからバンドに復帰したトミー・アルドリッジのドラムソロをフィーチャーした「Steal Your Heart Away」も大きな聴き所です。
ディスク２では来日公演で演奏されなかった楽曲が連発され、それぞれライヴのポイントになっています。短いながらもメドレー化された「Slide It In」や「Slow An’ Easy」のほか、バンドの代表曲「Bad Boys」は、オーディエンスも大いに喜んでいるのが判ります。セットの本編を感動的に締めくくる「Here I Go Again」、そしてアンコールを劇的に演出する「Still Of The Night」は、ライヴのクライマックスにふさわしい盛り上がりで楽しめます！　ヘッドライナーとしてツアーした日本やイギリスと比べ、若干短めのセットではありますが、選曲・演奏ともフェスティバルのお祭り騒ぎを引き立てる、聴き所満載の内容です！

そしてディスク３・４では、フェスティバルの最後を飾ったMOTLEY CRUEのライヴを、95分間のフルセットで楽しめます。
こちらも直前のWHITESNAKE同様、素晴らしい音の明度とダイレクト感ある演奏でライヴを収録。MOTLEY CRUEならではのエネルギッシュな演奏、毒々しさすらある極彩色の楽曲を、フェスティバル会場の空気まるごと、臨場感あるサウンドで楽しめます。
セットリストは2008年の「Saints Of Los Angeles」を幕開けとして、「Wild Side」や「Piece Of Your Action」，「Same Ol’ Situation (S.O.S.)」など、バンドの定番・名曲を連発。発表からちょうど30周年の「SHOUT AT THE DEVIL」からチョイスされたタイトル曲「Shout At The Devil」や「Looks That Kill」にはオーディエンスも大きなリアクションを見せており、録音中でも大きな聴き所になっています！

MOTLEY CRUEの演奏終了後、「Outroduction」では場内アナウンスによるフェスティバルの”閉会宣言”まで確認できます。誰もがお祭りの余韻を楽しんでいるといったムードの中、フェスティバルを振り返り、観客に感謝を述べるアナウンスは、なかなか感慨深いものがあります。これも”現場の実録”であるオーディエンス録音ならではの聴き所です。

20日の録音そして本作の「ROCK FEST 2013」は、日本人テーパーによる海外フェスティバル録音という、非常に珍しく、また個性的なアイテムです。今から25年前の1988年ごろ、全米のアルバム・セールスで競い合っていたMOTLEY CRUEとWHITESNAKEが同一の舞台に出演したという今回のフェスティバルは、ベテランのメタル・ファンほど深い思い入れで、楽しく聴き込めるでしょう。もちろん若い世代のファンも、豪華バンドの競演は文句なしに楽しめるはず。全てのメタル・ファンに贈るフェスティバルの実録。ボリュームたっぷりの４枚組を、この機会にぜひお楽しみください！

WHITESNAKEは５月の日本から欧州を経て、７月には北米に上陸をしており、バンドとしてはサウンドが固まった状態にあり、この日もグッドなパフォーマンスに終始している。セットとしては前半部は日本や欧州と変わらず、米国ではあまり知られていないであろうクラッシックなReady An’ WillingやDon’t Break My Heart Againなどを平然と演奏しているが、オーディエンスも熱狂的にそれら楽曲を受け入れているよう。ただし、フェスとしてはIs This Loveのバラッドで中だるみをしてしまった感があるのは残念。しかしながら米国用のセットとしてDisc-2以降は先のツアーとは異なるもので、Slide It In、Slow An’ Easyはいずれも１フレーズのメドレーではあるものの、米国のファンに対するスペシャルなプレゼントでもある。特にSlow An’ Easyはコーラスワークが強烈であるため、フルスケールでの演奏でも良かったように思う。
80分強のWHITESNAKEのステージが終わり、22:30にはMOTLEY CRUEが登場する。2012年には４年ぶりの新曲「SEX」をリリースしたり、またKISSとのダブルヘッドライン・ツアーを成功させるなど、バンドとしての活動は本年度も引き続いている。２月からのオーストラリア・ツアーはやはりKISSとの共同公演の一環にて、カナダ・ツアーを経て、夏には本公演を含むフェスティバル出演をこなしている。などという精力的な活動からバンドとしては好調で、この日もオープニングのSaints Of Los Angelesから最高のスタートを極めている。Wild Sideのグルーブもクールに、続くクラッシックなShout At The Devil などとセットも最高である。もちろんステージ後半の怒濤の進行も素晴らしく、全盛に迫る勢いをバンドは擁している。2014年にはファイナル・アルバムをリリースし、来年からのワールドツアーでバンドに終止符を打つという噂されているものの、グループとしての熟成度、またはオーディエンスの熱狂ぶりをみるにつけ、それで許されるものなのか。いずれにおいても2013年の彼らを活写したひとつの記録として本タイトルの価値は大きく見出されることになるであろう。
