Miles’ new sound source is urgently released from the Stargazer label, which can be said to be under the umbrella of the “Voodoo Down” label specializing in Miles Davis. It is the sound source of the Antibes Jazz Festival, which is famous for its official album as “Miles in Europe” in 1963. Whereas “Miles in Europe” was performed on July 27th, the performances recorded here are on the 26th and 28th, which are before and after that. Both remastered and recorded the latest sound source that was just broadcast in France in October 2021. All of them are not complete sound sources for all performances because they are broadcast frames, but each is just over 50 minutes, which is a good length to listen to in a concentrated manner. This is a must-listen board with the latest high-quality sound, played by a quintet (complete if the saxophone is changed to Wayne Shorter), which is one step before the “lost quintet”, which is said to be the highest peak of acoustic jazz.
