今回のリリースに当たり、先の東京ドームや名古屋をキャッチした極上オーディエンス録音を提供してくれたテーパーがさらなる秘蔵マスターを提供、これまでアイテムが一切リリースされていなかった3月18日公演の音源の発掘も遂に実現、これによってミック来日公演のすべてがアイテム化されるという快挙まで実現するとなれば、これは絶対に見逃せません。

まずは3月15日の大阪公演初日です。ミックが遂に日本のステージを踏み入れた歴史的な一日。このライブの模様を捉えた音源は以前にも存在しましたが、今回はその上をゆく見事なクオリティ会場からの出音の関係もあり、ライブ序盤はフラットな音像に見受けられますが、「Lonely At The Top」辺りからはオンな音像へと進化。何よりも全体の臨場感と見事なクリアネスは日本のストーンズ・ファンが待ちに待ったミックのステージの興奮を余すことなくキャッチしています。当時大きな話題を呼んだ来日公演の初日ということもあり、この日の盛り上がりや熱狂ぶりは本当に凄い！それにライブ・エイドのようなイベント・ステージではなく、正真正銘ミック・ジャガーとしてのソロ・ライブ・ステージの初日でもあったということ。

職人ミュージシャンによるモダンで軽快なロック・サウンドからはいい意味でエイティーズらしさが漂っています。「Start Me Up」以降、ライブ終盤のストーンズ・ナンバーが高速で演奏されるアレンジはその後ストーンズご本尊が来日してしまったことから軽視されてしまった感もありましたが、今だからこそ、このスピーディな演奏と鉄壁なバンドサウンドは実に新鮮で魅力的。なるほど、ミックがストーンズの曲を演奏したとしても、本来求めていたであろう、彼なりのソロ・サウンドはしっかりとしたビジョンが組み立てられていたものです。
それに何よりもミック自身が絶好調。後の東京ドームのテレビ放送とは雲泥の差。ましてや緊張のツアー初日ということもあり、気合の入りまくった彼の歌の素晴らしさも再確認していただきたいところでしょう。気合と勢いで飛ばしまくるライブ前半の押せ押せな展開が一段落して歌われる「Beast Of Burden」でミックが放つ「slow down just a little bit」というセリフは後のストーンズ日本公演における「ココデ、チョットペースヲ、オトシマス」という名文句の原型が垣間見られるのも興味深いところかと。そして今回の音源は録音時のカット箇所が極めて少ないのも大きな魅力なのです。「Ruby Tuesday」が始まった瞬間、さらには「You Can’t Always Get What You Want」における同様な部分、そして「Gimme Shelter」の序盤などで起きていたカットはすべて既発音源にて完璧にアジャスト。何よりも「Jumping Jack Flash」が単一音源にて完全収録されている点は大きなアドバンテージです。これが初日の熱狂だ！
