Two years have passed since the birth of masterpiece “HARDWIRED … TO SELF – DESTRUCT”. I can not wait to live, I can not hear the news of coming to Japan. METALLICA. When I noticed, five years have passed since my enthusiasm for “SUMMERSONIC 2013”. Their biggest visit to Japan is five and a half years (April 1998 – November 2003), so we are no longer updating their longest record. A superb and latest multi-camera pro shot that will heal the dry metal soul appears.
Such film was filmed “October 6, 2018 Austin Show”. It is the newest live just three days before this update. First of all, let’s check the position of the show with a tour schedule after 2018 in order to know their recent situation.

This is the schedule of 2018/2019 which has been published so far. Already the festival tour of the summer of next year is beginning to be decided, but there is no Japanese name there …. Aside from that, this year is the European and autumn / winter North American tour in early spring and the Austin Show of this work is the third show of “North America # 1”. It is a pattern when I appeared on a huge festival “Austin City Limits (ACL) MUSIC FESTIVAL”. Fes is held twice a weekend, METALLICA is a bird on Saturday. This work is the first week of that. This first week was delivered on WEB Cast, where the top professional shots of numerous bands / artists became a hot topic. This work is its METALLICA compilation.
That quality is exactly iron wall. Shooting only for the latest WEB cast of gigantic festival, camera work, sound mix …… Everything is super class. Timing and balancing cheers did not have a stingy point, adding to the reality of live delivery (there was also a recording band). We have introduced Official grade pro shot “LIVE FROM THE HOUSE OF VANS” “SUMMER OF 2017” of “World Wired Tour”, but this work is said to be its 2018 edition. It is exactly one piece as if to embody Pro Shot’s ideal.
The latest show drawn with such beauty is outstanding. The set conforms to the basics of “World Wired Tour”, and obviously also showcases new songs “Hardwired” “Atlas, Rise!” “Now That We’re Dead” “Moth Into Flame”. On the contrary, it seems that we do not find unusual songs, but the surprising thing is “Creeping Death”. Although the performance itself is always done, it is avoided for some reason on the day when full pro shot enters, and it can not be seen also in the above “LIVE FROM THE HOUSE OF VANS” “SUMMER OF VANS”.
And it was the stage director that changed in the second year of the world tour. In the early stage, the screen like the wall of a huge building was overwhelming, but now the format in which cubes’ screens line up. In a single indoor performance, the cube is scattered over the head of the audience seating but this day is festival, so 11 rows are lined up in the back of the stage. And, again, two huge screens are on both sides of the stage. It still shows the biggest metal monster ever in history.
In terms of performance, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trugilo’s jam time which starts after “Fade To Black” also points. The cover of the local song is being shown on a daily basis, and the surprising selection of songs is talked about in each performance (Rob sang “ABBA’s” Dacing Queen “). And Stevie Ray Vaughn was chosen in this Texas work. I am enjoying cooking “Telephone Song” with feeling relaxed.

Following “LIVE FROM THE HOUSE OF VANS” in 2016, followed by “SUMMER OF 2017” in 2017, the ultra-superb multicamera pro shot that will be the masterpiece of 2018. I witnessed the latest form of the “World Wired Tour” which has been changing since the blank for five years since I came to Japan, and I regain the gloss to dry metal soul. 傑作『HARDWIRED… TO SELF-DESTRUCT』の誕生から早２年。待てど暮らせど来日の報が聞こえてこないMETALLICA。気がつくと“SUMMERSONIC 2013”の熱狂から５年もの月日が流れてしまいました。彼ら最大の来日ブランクは５年半（1998年４月-2003年11月）ですので、もはやその最長記録の更新も目前。その乾ききったメタル魂を癒してくれる極上・最新マルチカメラ・プロショットが登場です。
そんな本作が撮影されたのは「2018年10月６日オースティン公演」。今回の更新からわずか３日前という最新も最新のライヴなのです。まずは、彼らの近況を知る意味でも2018年以降のツアースケジュールでショウのポジションを確認してみましょう。

これが現在までに公表されている2018年／2019年の日程。すでに来年の夏フェス・ツアーも決まり始めているわけですが、そこに日本の名はありません……。それはさておき、今年は春先のヨーロッパと秋／冬の北米ツアーが行われており、本作のオースティン公演は「北米#1」の３公演目。巨大フェス“ACL(Austin City Limits) MUSIC FESTIVAL”に出演した際の模様です。フェスは週末２回分で行われ、METALLICAは土曜のトリ。本作は、その第１週にあたります。この第１週はWEBキャストで配信され、数々のバンド／アーティストの極上プロショットが話題沸騰となっているところ。本作はそのMETALLICA編なのです。
そのクオリティは、まさに鉄壁。巨大フェスの最新WEBキャストだけに撮影、カメラワーク、サウンド・ミックス……どれをとっても超一流。歓声の入るタイミングやバランスまでケチの付けようがなく、生配信のリアリティまで上乗せ（録画のバンドもありました）。当店では“WorldWired Tour”のオフィシャル級プロショット『LIVE FROM THE HOUSE OF VANS』『SUMMER OF 2017』をご紹介してきましたが、本作はその2018年版と言っても良い。まさにプロショットの理想を体現するかのような１枚なのです。
そんな映像美で描かれる最新ショウは絶品。セットは“WorldWired Tour”の基本に準じるもので、もちろん新曲「Hardwired」「Atlas, Rise!」「Now That We’re Dead」「Moth Into Flame」もキッチリ披露してくれる。逆に珍しい曲は見当たらないようですが、意外なのは「Creeping Death」。演奏自体はいつも行われているのですが、フル・プロショットの入る日にはなぜか避けられ、前述の『LIVE FROM THE HOUSE OF VANS』『SUMMER OF 2017』でも見られないのです。
そして、ワールド・ツアー２年目になって変わってきたのはステージ演出。序盤では巨大ビルの壁のようなスクリーンが圧倒的でしたが、現在は立方体のスクリーンが並ぶ形式。単独の屋内公演では立方体が客席の頭上に散りばめられているのですが、この日はフェスなのでステージ奥に11個ズラッと並べられている。そして、ステージ両脇にはやはり巨大スクリーンが２本。相も変わらず史上最大のメタル・モンスターぶりを見せつけてくれるのです。
演奏面では「Fade To Black」の後に始まるカーク・ハメットとロバート・トゥルージロのジャム・タイムもポイント。日替わりでご当地ソングのカバーが披露されており、その意外な選曲が各公演で話題になっています（ロブがABBAの「Dacing Queen」を歌ったこともありました）。そして、テキサス州の本作で選ばれたのはスティーヴィ・レイ・ヴォーン。「Telephone Song」をリラックスした感じで楽しげにカバーしています。

2016年編の『LIVE FROM THE HOUSE OF VANS』、2017年編の『SUMMER OF 2017』に続き、2018年の代表作になるであろう超極上のマルチカメラ・プロショット。５年に及ぶ来日ブランクの間も変化し続けている“WorldWired Tour”の最新形を目撃し、乾ききった金属魂に光沢を取り戻す１本。どうぞ、最新のMETALLICAをオフィシャル級クオリティでご体験ください！
