Not only the album’s big hit, but also the biggest tour in 10 years, “TRACKER Tour”. Introducing a video masterpiece that allows you to experience the scene in the best possible way.
This work contains two types of audience shots produced by overseas enthusiasts. This is a 2-disc set with the multi-camera video of “June 2nd + 3rd Paris performance” on DISC 1 and the full video of “July 18th Padova performance” on DISC 2. This week, the original recording of the same tour “ROYAL ALBERT HALL 2015 (Uxbridge 1540)” will be released at the same time, so let’s first grasp each position from the schedule at that time.

This is Mark Knopfler in 2015. The tour started in England, but then expanded to continental Europe. The Paris performance was the 5th & 6th performance of “Europe # 2” in the first half, and the Padua performance was the 12th performance of “Europe # 3” in the second half. The two types of footage recorded at such a show have completely different personalities. Let’s introduce them individually.

[DISC 1: Multi-camera video assembled from 2 days in Paris] The first to appear is a multi-camera edited work that is popular these days. Paris had two consecutive nights at the same venue, and various audience shots born from both performances have been assembled. Depending on the song, it may be almost a single turtle, but the various angles change one after another, making it a video work that will not get tired of changing perspectives. Therefore, it is not possible to say “the angle is XX” and “the distance is ◇◇”, but the view is generally superb. The scene with no obstruction and almost no camera shake continues endlessly.
That is also the real pleasure of making multi-cameras. People tend to pay attention to the dynamism of switching, which changes the viewpoint in a flashy manner, but in reality, it is delicious to be able to remove the “failure scenes” of each video. I failed in camera work and missed the solo, I got out of the frame when I headed in a hurry, I managed to catch up, but it became blurry. You can omit such a moment. As a matter of fact, the editorial policy of this work is more like “showing a good cut carefully” rather than “changing quickly”. You can fully enjoy the real thrill of continuing to watch only the scenes that were taken well.
And when it comes to multi-camera works, audio is also important. This is already super powerful. Going “soundboard” on the ground … Is this a soundboard? After all, the official sound board of almost all performances of “TRACKER Tour” was downloaded and sold. The mania that produced it has not been announced, but it seems that it is using the official sound board.

[DISC 2: Full video that allows you to experience the Padova performance from the super special seat] The unusual DISC 2 is a masterpiece video with a dazzling ultra-realistic feeling that is the exact opposite. DISC 1 was assembled from various materials, but this one was recorded with one camera. It’s an audience shot in the middle of the road.
However, its quality surpasses that of DISC 1. Image quality, sound quality, angle … everything is intense. The angle is slightly to the left of the stage, probably in the front row. There is no front passenger in the field of view, and the angle to look up at the mark is like the front row …. It’s almost like one angle of a professional shot taken from the camera pit. However, it is camera work that does not give a professional shot feeling. The mark standing in front of the microphone remains in the center of the screen and hardly moves. Of course, if Mark walks around, he will chase after him, and he may shake it in solos by each member. However, it does not produce dynamism by zooming or the movement of the camera itself. It’s just a video that looks at the mark. You might think, “It looks like it’s awkward,” but it doesn’t happen because of the intense visual beauty and stability. The more the camera work moves, the more flashy it is, but this photographer is not bound by such “greed” and abandons the “look” that shows off his technique and good seats. However, the beauty of the image is irresistible just because the craftsman pursues a sense of stability.
And it is the “experience” that you can strongly enjoy because of such images. If you’re at the show, there shouldn’t be any change in acrobatic perspective, and you’ll be immersed in a wonderful performance while gazing at the protagonist’s mark. This video realizes the “experience” with the highest quality. Moreover, the sound is also an ultra-realistic audience sound. DISC 1 was (probably) the official sound board, but it’s super-superb so that you can watch it continuously. While being fiercely clear and direct, it gives you a full natural experience that is absolutely impossible with a sound board. Multi-camera works are more popular these days, but I highly recommend this one, who has concentrated the “umami of the audience”. It’s such a masterpiece video.

It is a wonderful full show of “TRACKER Tour” that is drawn with two images with extreme individuality. The sets are also different, so let’s organize them together at the end.

DISC 1 is a multi-camera video work carefully created by overseas enthusiasts, and DISC 2 which embodies the taste of the audience shots of the once-in-a-lifetime meeting with the highest quality. Both are masterpieces of concert images that can only be enjoyed in modern times. Please enjoy the two types together.

アルバムの大ヒットだけでなく、この10年で最大級のツアーでもあった“TRACKER Tour”。その現場を極上体験できる映像傑作が登場です。
そんな本作に収められているのは、海外マニアが制作した２種のオーディエンス・ショット。「2015年６月２日＋３日パリ公演」のマルチカメラ映像をDISC 1に、「同年７月18日パドバ公演」のフル映像をDISC 2に配した２枚組です。今週は同じツアーのオリジナル録音『ROYAL ALBERT HALL 2015（Uxbridge 1540）』も同時リリースとなりますので、まずは当時のスケジュールからそれぞれのポジションを把握しておきましょう。

これが2015年のマーク・ノップラー。ツアーは母国イギリスから始まったわけですが、その後に大陸ヨーロッパへと進出。パリ公演はその前半である「欧州#2」の５＆６公演目、パドバ公演は後半「欧州#3」の12公演目にあたるコンサートでした。そんなショウで記録された２種の映像は、個性もまったく異なる。それでは、個別にご紹介していきましょう。

【DISC 1：パリ２日間から組み上げられたマルチカメラ映像】
まず登場するのは、昨今人気のマルチカメラ編集作。パリは同会場２夜連続公演だったわけですが、その両公演から生まれたさまざまなオーディエンス・ショットを組み上げられているのです。曲によってはほとんどワンカメのこともありますが、多彩なアングルが次々と入れ替わり、視点の変化で飽きさせない映像作品になっています。そのため「角度が○○」「距離が◇◇」と言いきることが出来ないわけですが、総じて絶景。遮蔽物が一切なく、手ブレもほとんどない光景が延々と続きます。
それもマルチカメラ作の醍醐味。派手に視点が変わるスイッチングのダイナミズムに注目されがちですが、実は各映像の「失敗シーン」を削れるところが美味しい。カメラワークに失敗してソロを外してしまったり、急いで向いたらフレームアウトしたり、なんとか追いついたけれどブレブレになってしまったり……。そんな瞬間を省けるわけです。実のところ、本作の編集方針は「目まぐるしく切り替わる」よりも「良いカットをじっくり見せる」という感じ。上手く撮れたシーンだけで見続ける醍醐味をたっぷり味わえるのです。
そして、マルチカメラ作品と言ったら音声も重要。これがもう、超強力。「まるでサウンドボード」を地で行く……と言いますか、これはもうサウンドボードでしょう。何しろ、“TRACKER Tour”はほとんど全公演の公式サウンドボードがダウンロード販売された。制作したマニアは公表していませんが、その公式サウンドボードを使用していると思われます。

【DISC 2：超特等席からパドバ公演を絶景体験できるフル映像】
変わってのDISC 2は、真逆の超リアル感が眩しい名作映像です。DISC 1はさまざまな素材から組み上げていましたが、こちらは１台のカメラで一発録り。正道ド真ん中のオーディエンス・ショットなのです。
しかし、そのクオリティはDISC 1をも凌駕。画質・音質・アングル……すべてが強烈なのです。アングルはステージやや左よりで、恐らく最前列。視界に前方客がまるで入らないですし、マークを見上げる角度も最前列っぽい……と言いますか、ほとんどカメラピットから撮影したプロショットの１アングルという感じです。ただし、プロショット感がまるでないのはカメラワーク。マイクの前に立つマークを画面中央に収めたまま、ほとんど動かない。もちろん、マークが歩き回れば追いかけますし、メンバー各人のソロ等では振る事もある。しかし、ズームやカメラ自身の動きでダイナミズムを演出するようなことはしない。ただ淡々とマークを見つめる感じの映像なのです。「なんだかつまらなさそう」と思われるかも知れませんが、そうならないのは強烈なまでの映像美と安定感。カメラワークは動けば動くほど派手ですが、この撮影者はそうした「欲」に囚われず、技術や良席を見せびらかす「見栄」を捨てている。ただただ職人的にビシッと安定感を追求しているからこその映像美がたまらないのです。
そして、そうした映像だからこそ強く味わえるのが「体験感」。ショウの現場にいれば、アクロバティックな視点の変化などあるはずもなく、主役のマークをじっくりと見つめながら素晴らしい演奏に浸りきるはずです。この映像は、その「体験感」を最上クオリティで実現してくれる。しかも、音声も超リアルなオーディエンス・サウンド。DISC 1が（恐らく）公式サウンドボードだったわけですが、続けて観ても負けないほど超・極上。猛烈クリア＆ダイレクトでありつつ、サウンドボードでは絶対にあり得ないナチュラルな体験感をたっぷり味わわせてくれる。マルチカメラ作品の方が人気が出やすい昨今ではありますが、「オーディエンスだからこその旨み」を濃縮したこちらの方こそ、強くお薦めしたい。それほどまでの名作映像なのです。

個性も両極端な２つの映像で描かれるのは、素晴らしき“TRACKER Tour”のフルショウ。セットも異なっていますので、最後にまとめて整理しておきましょう。
